I thought I will say a tentative hello. Today I am 13 weeks, which for me it's such a weird place to be. Here's why: I have been ttc for over 10 years now, multiple IVF rounds with normal embryos which didn't take or one that did ended in a miscarriage. A month after our final IVF before moving onto surrogacy abroad I got pregnant. I still don't know how that happened, but maybe someone up above felt sorry for us..The fear of another miscarriage is all consuming, and not sure it will abate any time soon. I was even scared of chatting to you guys, because somehow, I feel like an imposter...I swear I have a ptsd after all our struggles.

So far, it's looking all ok (many private scans!). Low risk SAFE NIPT. At 12 week scan, baby was doing a headstand, after a vigorous jiggling with a scan probe of my tummy (ouch! Confused ) baby was fast asleep face down..

Nice to meet you all!

GiniM · 26/07/2021 18:04

@Jorun Congratulations on the pregnancy and the 12 week scan! It was a bit similar for me though much less of an ordeal (we ttc for 2 years, had everything checked and decided to do an IVF. Just after the decision, I suddenly was pregnant).

Some things just cannot be understood, I guess... I can relate to your nervousness, but since the 12 week scan I am starting to believe this is actually going to work out!

When is your ECC?

Jorun · 26/07/2021 18:18

@GiniM, I'm very happy you managed to avoid the IVF, I don't wish it on anyone..my EDD falls between 29th of Jan, or 1st of Feb depending on the sonographer. Since it's right on the cusp, thought I'd better fit with the Feb gals Wink

GiniM · 26/07/2021 18:40

@Jorun I'm also Feb 1st Smile! Yes, I'm happy I didn't have to do IVF. My respect for not giving up on your wish for a child! I'm looking forward to the second trimester Smile

jody97xo · 26/07/2021 18:51

@Jorun welcome and congratulations! X

feb2022 · 26/07/2021 20:33

@Jorun wow what a journey you have been on! It takes some amazing willpower to keep going through all of that!
We tried for 7 and a half years, had various tests my partner had an op to repair a varicocele I had a couple of Those dye tests through my Fallopian tubes to check for blockages etc, nothing worked so we started saving for IVF and then got pregnant just before our first appointment ☺️
Had 2 babies back to back (12 months)
And now I'm having number 3
I have to pinch myself some days I feel so blessed!
Congratulations on your pregnancy these babies are such incredible little miracles

Jorun · 26/07/2021 20:46

@jody97xo, @feb2022, thanks guys! Fingers crossed our time will come..

On a brighter note, does anyone else retch whilst brushing their teeth? Grin It's been a challenge! Every morning and night I go to the bathroom wondering if I will throw up this time Shock

jody97xo · 26/07/2021 22:22

@Jorun yep I’m pretty much sick every morning after brushing my teeth, not as bad on a night but I am on three tablets a day to keep the sickness at bay 🤦🏼‍♀️ My sense of smell is very sensitive at the moment and the silliest things are making me gag too, it’s quite the struggle 🤣

WinsAndNeedles · 26/07/2021 23:06

I've been awol for a few days because my nausea has been so bad. I can't get an appointment with my GP. I've filled in an e-consult for today but no one has got back to me yet. I'm literally useless at the mo. It's been lovely to catch up with the threat this evening though.

Anyone else a slightly older mom? I'm 38 and I'm getting a bit nervous about the screenings as I know that it's going to bump the numbers right up.

feb2022 · 26/07/2021 23:06

@Jorun yessss the thought of it makes me gag 🤢
I just feel rough all the time at the moment like a bad hangover but waaaay worse 😅

becarefuloutthere · 26/07/2021 23:10

@WinsAndNeedles ah I hope they call tomorrow! I'm an older mum under pregnancy terms as I'm 35, started trying at 33 but due to fertility issues on both sides we had to use ivf which thankfully worked first time! Is this your first?

WinsAndNeedles · 26/07/2021 23:30

@becarefuloutthere no, this is our 3rd. It's come as a bit of a surprise, I thought I was past it 😂

Glad I'm not the only geriatric in here (don't they know how to make you feel good!)

Peachi82 · 27/07/2021 07:37

I will be 39 when baby is born :-)
So also quite ancient.

Hope2022 · 27/07/2021 07:55

Morning lovelies!
So lovely to see and hear positive 12 week scan news!!
We have our nhs 12 week Friday eeek! I should be 12+1 so hopefully it’ll all be conclusive bcos I don’t think I could wait another week to tell people! This bloat bump is getting bigger by the day!! 🙈😂 plus I need to hear the all is good!

I’m sorry to hear the journey has been tough for some of you 😘 I had my first within weeks of stopping my contraceptive pill so thought it was easy then 7 years later still trying for #2! There has been another pregnancy in that time but we didn’t realise we’d had a mmc until the 12 week scan which was really awful 😢 We never imagined we’d have problems trying to conceive! The nhs don’t want to know once you’ve had one child and we’d just said maybe we’ll try ivf last chance then we’ll give up and the month we saw each other the least it happened! Maybe it really is quality not quantity! 😂😂🙈🙈

I’m really struggling to get excited.. we’ve had private scans and all is perfect but we didn’t have scans last time so not sure when it all stopped so that didn’t help me feel 100% reassured..

Managed a nice long walk in the countryside ydy, felt a little nauseous but pushed through and it felt great to be able to do stuff I enjoy again!

Hoping to get away at the weekend and tell family our big news! 🥳 I’ve put off seeing people until now purely because my tummy bloat has been ridiculous some days 🙈 so the wardrobe is limited plus the whole not being able to drink thing 🙈

I’ll be 36 when baby is born so in the eyes of motherhood I’ll be over the hill too 🙈😂
I like to think I’m older, wiser and maybe a little more patient now!! 😂😂😂

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/07/2021 08:28

@WinsAndNeedles I'm 36 and no one has mentioned geriatric 😂 However my hospital is in London so Im probably pretty young for here even

becarefuloutthere · 27/07/2021 08:38

@WinsAndNeedles ah how lovely! We'll prob have to use ivf again should we want anymore, luckily we have frozen embryos available to us. No ones made me feel too old yet but I have felt it due to reading stats on ivf success rates etc whilst we were going through it. Be interesting now that I'm in the general populist to see if they bring it up! Midwife hasn't yet so we'll see what it's like at the scan.
@Hope2022 good luck for Friday, really hope all works out for you! Sounds like one hell of a journey for baby no2, it's so sad that secondary infertility isn't taken seriously by the nhs. I know what you mean about the pregnancy bloat, I look about 16 weeks and I'm only 10! Was out with work yesterday and was so paranoid that I had my bag over my belly most of the day, can't wait to just tell now too!

LKB89 · 27/07/2021 08:46

Morning all, sorry I have been a AWOL for the past couple of weeks.

Unfortunately we lost our bean last Tuesday, at 9 weeks on my 32nd birthday, after seeing the heartbeat at 7.5 weeks. Guess that 2 week of brown spotting for me was never 'normal'

Devastated doesn't compare, don't know how or if I'll ever get over it.

Wanted to wish you all a very happy, safe pregnancy and lots of luck for the future, I'm going to leave the forum shortly.

Lots of love ❤️

Skybooks · 27/07/2021 08:50

Joining in with the oldies, I'll be 35 when baby is born, however nothing was mentioned about my age at all.

Hope people are starting to feel better, I'm still waiting my scan appt. I'll be 12 weeks on friday according to the private scans I've had at 8 and 10 weeks.

Skybooks · 27/07/2021 08:52

@lkb89 I'm so so sorry for your loss. Be kind to yourself and take time to grieve.
