Thought I'd start a new thread for us expecting March 2022!

Congratulations!!

I'm 4+2 with my first, conceived via IVF. I have endo & adeno so pretty nervous. Have told hubby & my sis so far but it's hard keeping the excitement in! It's been a long TTC journey over the last 5 years...

Hope everyone is feeling well in these early days xx

I was not at all a runner until I started couch to 5k and I have been loving it. I go incredibly slow most of the way and at the last few minutes I've started to feel like I'm flying! The endorphins after are amazing. I did week 8 run 1 today and it was raining the whole time which I enjoyed. I doubled up on sports bras. In other news, I am also getting startled by CM! It's such a comfort reading others on here.

On an emotional side, is anyone else getting intense waves of feelings, sometimes incredibly happy, other times I get a sinking feeling, such worry of the unknown.

Fiep · 06/07/2021 14:29

@hellointhere definitely more emotional!

My main side effects are tingly boobs, fatigue and headache but I genuinely don’t know how much of that is caffeine withdrawal. I’m tapering off because I was having so much and I’d be ill if I just stopped. I used to have like 5 espressos to get through a work day after an early start with DD1 (I know, it’s really bad), and I’ve managed to go down to 1, with the goal of hitting zero caffeine by Friday. I’m literally sat at my work desk staring into space and not getting much done.

I’m also an EATING MACHINE (mind you, only beige foods) and constantly thirsty.

When are people telling work? I work somewhere a bit like a prison where there is a small but real chance of physical assault. Although I’ve never been assaulted in years of working in this type of environment today I felt uncomfortable when I was calming down a huge guy who was clearly angry (albeit not with me per se).

I’m only 3+5 which seems WAY too early to tell work. What are people’s thoughts?

Shortmamashortcycles · 06/07/2021 14:53

Fiep, your job sounds hardcore! I'm very impressed!

I'm hoping to hold out until 5 months this time round - I've a new boss, they don't have kids and I'm trying to persuade them to change the team structure which would give me some great career opportunities - me taking leave next year wouldn't help my case! As I work remotely, I'm hoping no-one will notice.

However, for my first kid, I told my (old) manager at 6 weeks because I had a fairly dramatic incident of unexplained bleeding at work, had to dash to A&E and then spent two days waiting to see if I was going to miscarry. (In the end, all was fine.) I didn't mean to tell her but she phoned to see if I was ok and I burst into tears during the call!

So... I'd say it depends on your relationship with your manager and other factors too. If you feel like your job performance needs to change to prioritise your pregnancy then maybe worth saying sooner vs later. I'd love pregnancy not to be this big career issue, but sadly it sometimes is...

timeisnotaline · 06/07/2021 15:04

@Fiep, you don’t need to hit zero caffeine. They recommend not more than 200 mg (micrograms?) a day in first trimester, which allows 2 cappuccinos Im pretty sure (I’ve been drinking French press which is lower caffeine)

Fiep · 06/07/2021 15:22

Thanks for your responses.

@Shortmamashortcycles, I had exactly the same experience with my first child, unexplained bleeding at six weeks, lots of early scans, query ectopic, and I burst out crying in her office, so the cat was out of the bag. I’m worried I’ll show early this time round as I have zero stomach muscles after DD1, but will try to hold out until after the early scan I have booked for July 31st, unless I start to feel unsafe!

@timeisnotaline oh really? I thought to guidelines had changed to zero?

Fiep · 06/07/2021 15:23

Oh and @Shortmamashortcycles good lunch with your job opportunities, sounds really exciting!

Fiep · 06/07/2021 15:23

Luck - ffs 😂

Shortmamashortcycles · 06/07/2021 15:25

@Fiep

Luck - ffs 😂
I'd take a good lunch too, tbh - nausea really hitting today! 🤢🤣
Neom87 · 06/07/2021 15:51

Hello to all the newbies and congratulations!!

I'm eating all rhe carbs at the moment! Had a couple of fleeting instances where I thought 'Hhmmm is this the start if some sickness' but nothing too much to report. I'm still managing to go to the gym in the mornings ( not sure how long that will last - I'm knackered now!) but sticking to the crosstrainer and treadmill really, I know babies well protected in there but I'm scared to do anything stomach related!!

I phoned the midwife this morning and I'm booked in for the 23rd when I will be 8+3 🙂

ShrimpingViolet · 06/07/2021 17:31

I'm impressed at all of you still doing proper exercise! I am knackered and sweating after taking the dog for a walk at the moment! I am unfit though. Will have excuse not to get back into some semblance of better shape when this baby is born because we are definitely stopping at two.

Congrats to all the new BFPs too Smile

abbs1 · 06/07/2021 18:26

Im 4+4 and only symptoms so far is tender boobs, eating so much food and im so tired!
When does morning sickness usually start? I cant remember exactly from my last pregnancy as it came out of nowhere and hit me so bad and turned out to be hyperemesis so im literally waiting for it to start 😔

Neom87 · 06/07/2021 19:07

Can any of the experienced mamas tell me if partners usually go to your midwife appointments with you (other than the obvious scans) I appreciate it may be different due to covid times x

toadstool32 · 06/07/2021 19:21

4+5 and zero symptoms which makes me think I'm heading for yet another mc

Fiep · 06/07/2021 19:22

@Neom87 my DH came to the booking appointment but not the other midwife appointments, they weren’t that exciting tbh!

@abbs1 hopefully no hyperemesis for you this time, fingers crossed!

Justanotherlondonmum · 06/07/2021 19:32

Hi all, congratulations!

I'm just pulling up a tentative chair, this will be my 6th pregnancy, we have 2 dd's, I am holding hour hope this will be our rainbow after 3 consecutive losses.

abbs1 · 06/07/2021 19:32

@fiep oh gosh I hope so but im fully prepared it will. Got quite a bit of cramping so worried it may end in miscarriage same as my first baby. Keeping fingers crossed it settles down and i get some more pregnancy symptoms to re assure me just not the sickness.

Neom87 · 06/07/2021 19:45

@Fiep yeah I thought as much. A bit of significance with the first one though.

Hi @Justanotherlondonmum and @abbs1. Fingers crossed the cramping is just your womb stretching and the baby settling in x

abbs1 · 06/07/2021 19:49

@neom87 aww thank you. I really hope so. I feel so on edge. Trying not to worry but its so hard.

Fiep · 06/07/2021 19:57

@abbs1 @Justanotherlondonmum it’s so scary isn’t it. I just can’t get over how silenced this trauma is, despite being so common!

abbs1 · 06/07/2021 20:01
**@abbs1* @Justanotherlondonmum* it’s so scary isn’t it. I just can’t get over how silenced this trauma is, despite being so common!
It is. The anxiety i feel as im sure @justanotherlondonmum feels is weighing on me so much. Im definitely going to get an early scan if i get to 8 weeks to reassure myself to help my anxiety. Im so sorry @justanotherlondonmum about you losses. I cant even begin to imagine losing multiple losses.
My husband and i really struggled after our loss. It definitely isnt spoken about enough and i feel there is no support for women really.

Justanotherlondonmum · 06/07/2021 20:02

Thank you @Neom87

Justanotherlondonmum · 06/07/2021 20:13

@abbs1 it's completely natural to feel anxious, I took a digital today to confirm we are pregnant again and it's hit my DH really hard seeing it in writing. I'm trying to stay positive for the both of us.
Our fetal medicine unit have said they will be part of our journey as soon as we are ready to try again, I now need to muster the courage to call them.

Oh i can imagine. Im really glad you have support there. I really hope everything goes smoothly and you get your little rainbow baby.
Ive done like 4 tests last week and ive ordered a couple more for end of this week as i feel its my only reassurance atm seeing the 2 lines come up.

Starmoose · 06/07/2021 20:49

Hello all,
Can you please let me know what 4+1/4+2 means?

Also just found out I'm due March 2022. I've had 1 covid vax and due the other next week. Is anyone here going to take the 2nd dose in their 1st trimester?

Thanks xxx

HereIfYouNeedMe · 06/07/2021 20:52

@Starmoose hey! It's means 4 weeks 1 day and so on, I'm currently 4 weeks 2 days. Was due my second jab Friday but told to cancel it until I speak to the midwife... I did cancel it but wondering if I needed to now
