Just that really.

Think on Friday I will be about 6 weeks pregnant. I've been feeling SO thirsty all the time for a few weeks now. Never had that with other pregnancies. Also got loads of stretching feelings going on in my uterus often throughout the day. Also it is uncomfortable leaning forwards, I already feel like there is something in there and I tho k my stomach looks bigger already too.

I am still breastfeeding a 1 Yr old so I know that increases chances by 9 times, and my dad is a fraternal twin.

Feeling sick already although only one morning so far has it felt absolutely awful.

Anyone else feeling similar?

Identical twins are flukes of nature.

Twins born from the release of two eggs can be hereditary, but only on the woman's side. So if your dad is a twin, he could have passed the "release more eggs" gene to you, and as a woman, this can affect your pregnancy. But anything on your partner's side can't affect your pregnancy. However, if DH does carry the "rmo" gene, and you have a little girl, he could have passed it on to her, and she could be more likely to have twins.

Hi Ladies, I have twins and currently pregnant with my second set. My twins are fraternal as it runs in my family. Difference between twin and singleton pregnancies for me is the crazy all day sickness with the twins.

ChikiTIKI · 24/06/2021 13:05

Congrats @Twinsagain21!! Hope all is going well with your pregnancy sorry about the sickness though. Hope it eases off soon. Did you feel really thirsty too?

As more days go by I am more and more interested to know why I feel sick from the moment I open my eyes in the morning until the moment I fall asleep at night. With other pregnancies I would only start feeling sick or vomit if I didn't get breakfast quicn enough, and would have to eat throughout the day but more to get rid of taste than to get rid of nausea.

Since I got pregnant when breastfeeding though I wonder if it's just a massive shock for my body, since breastfeeding makes your hormones similar to when in menopause. So it could be that reason why I feel so sick I suppose.

Only 3 days until my scan which is exciting/terrifying 😀

Thanks ChikiTIKI it is difficult to keep anything down but I find cold water helps to break the constant vomiting and nausea cycle. Hope your scan goes well

ChikiTIKI · 25/06/2021 05:45

Thanks @Twinsagain21

I realised yesterday morning that cold drinks are a lot better than regular ones.

How many weeks are you now?

31 weeks and looking massive. I won’t be allowed to go past 38 weeks. I had my first set at 37+1 and didn’t need to be induced so hoping these behave too.

ChikiTIKI · 25/06/2021 11:43

Gosh, not too long to go then @Twinsagain21! Sorry you're still sick right til the end though.

I finally actually threw up this morning. Think I feel a bit better for it although still feeling sick.

Getting nervous about scan tomorrow. Feeling more excited than nervous though I think. Trying to be optimistic... I know of its bad news it will hurt just the same whether I let myself get excited or not.

Hope you're all having a nice weekend in the sun 🙂

@ChikiTIKI good luck today! I know it is often very curious how some twin pregnancies are out of the blue, and others seem so obvious to the women who are pregnant!

ChikiTIKI · 27/06/2021 13:36

Thanks @Awarsewolf probably setting off an in hour 😬

Ogwen · 27/06/2021 15:25

Hope all went well today @ChikiTIKI? Been thinking of you.

Ogwen · 27/06/2021 15:27

Hi @Twinsagain21 - 2 sets of twins?! At least you’ll be prepared.3

messybun101 · 27/06/2021 16:39

Following with interest!! I'd never read about the extra thirst/x9 more likely to have twins while bf etc so I'm really eager to find out what happened at the scan op 😁
Hope all I going well.

ChikiTIKI · 27/06/2021 16:44

Hi ladies. All went great at the scan, dates exactly as I had guessed (9 weeks 2 days) and there is one baby in there... Not two!

So now I am assuming it must be a boy!!

Lovely to see the baby wriggling around in there. Feeling exhausted now think it's just relief to be honest.

Also we made a deal that if it was twins, my husband had to buy me a Toblerone so I am a bit sad about that. If its a boy, I have to buy one for my husband.

@ChikiTIKI congrats on the scan! Ah only one in there also, thought you'd for sure have two!

ChikiTIKI · 27/06/2021 19:47

I know @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I was surprised too!! I'm so glad I had the scan because I really needed to know to get used to the idea either way. I think I'm pretty much there with accepting it though. Not sure I'm the type to be able to manage twins 😅 I'm not high energy enough!! Hoping the sickness was partly psychological because I thought it was twins and that starts easing off soon. I can hope at least 😂

ChikiTIKI · 28/06/2021 12:26
