Anyone else wondering if they are pregnant with twins?

Just that really.

Think on Friday I will be about 6 weeks pregnant. I've been feeling SO thirsty all the time for a few weeks now. Never had that with other pregnancies. Also got loads of stretching feelings going on in my uterus often throughout the day. Also it is uncomfortable leaning forwards, I already feel like there is something in there and I tho k my stomach looks bigger already too.

I am still breastfeeding a 1 Yr old so I know that increases chances by 9 times, and my dad is a fraternal twin.

Feeling sick already although only one morning so far has it felt absolutely awful.

Anyone else feeling similar?

Oh right, @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 maybe some twin potential in the genes there then!!

What I'm not sure about is that as my dad is a twin... Can I really inherit the twin gene from him? I mean, can I inherit a gene from my dad, that makes me more likely to release more than one egg in a given month? I am totally naive when it comes to genetics, I am nothing close to a scientist that's for sure!! But I am sceptical about whether I can inherit lady bits genes from someone who doesn't have lady bits 😂😂

Managed to get through yesterday by drinking ridiculous quantities of water. Like completely inhuman levels... The day before I already felt too sick and was scared drinking too much would make me vomit. Slow start today but not feeling as good as yesterday. I got up early with kids so husband could lay in for fathers day.

How are you feeling this morning @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7?

Thinking of you still RBundy hope you're doing OK xxx

Thanks everyone. I'm doing ok, going back to hospital today for more tests to see what's going on, so a bit nervous but will be glad when this is all over.
Hope everyone else is doing okay?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 20/06/2021 09:23

@RBundy good luck for today, really hope it all goes well x

@ChikiTIKI I think you can inherit from your dads side, so yes you have them in yo ur family!

I feel fine, but I'm only seven weeks, maybe it'll kick in later. I had a day our yesterday so just a bit tired and fuzzy really from that I think. I do use magnesium spray at night which is meant to prevent morning sickness - my sister recommended it from having hers

ChikiTIKI · 20/06/2021 15:23

I hope the investigations go well @RBundy and that you're managing OK. Hope you can be back home ASAP xx

Hey I'm home now and they think it has all passed which is the best outcome from a bad situation. Thanks for all your support. I hope you're all having a good day

I'm ok thanks hun, glad it's all over! how are you doing? X

ChikiTIKI · 20/06/2021 17:59

I'm so sorry @RBundy that you've not had a good outcome in the end. When I had my mc, I eventually avoided interventions too as it finally passed naturally and it was a big relief to have that small mercy after all the heartache.

I hope you get your happy news sometime soon. Sending love xxx

Thank you 😘 We have 4 frozen embryos so will try again in the next few months when we feel ready. I hope you're feeling well today? Xxx

@RBundy it must be so much tougher after ivf, but I'm really pleased you've got four embryos to use when you're ready again. I'm okay thanks, had a lazy day yesterday, trying to get motivated for another week at work

Ogwen · 21/06/2021 07:54

So sorry to hear your news RBundy Flowers

Ogwen · 21/06/2021 07:59

I’ve just had a weekend away with DP, which was lovely. Lots of sea air and walking with plenty of sit downs to admire the view! My booking-in appointment last week was weird. Because my first was so long ago they’re going to treat me as of this was my first so I get some extra check ups, which is reassuring.

Excitedm0m · 21/06/2021 08:07

I have all the exact same symptoms plus I don't know if any of you believe in this but I first got signs from the universe I was pregnant and then I would see the number 2 everywhere and twin buildings on TV etc , I know they say you just see what you are most focused on but I just have this weird feeling I have twins. We will just have to see xx

ChikiTIKI · 21/06/2021 17:07

I'm glad to hear you've got more embryos in the freezer @RBundy. I hope your next cycle is successful and without any complications.

Ooh a weekend away very nice @Ogwen. That's nice you're getting extra appointments. My booking in is a week on Friday. I don't like midwife appointments but will grin and bear it I suppose!

@Excitedm0m that's interesting you've seen signs. I had a weird dream last night where everyone I knew was announcing that they were pregnant with twins (even people who have finished having kids and are now grandparents)! It was quite bizarre!

Well I've just caved and booked a scan for Sunday afyernoon!! If I'm allowed to take the 1yo with me then I can have a friend watch the 3yo, otherwise I'll have to tell my mum the secret and ask her to watch both kids. Think I need to tell her soon anyway as I feel so sick, she probably already thinks I'm being grumpy or something 😅

Ogwen · 22/06/2021 17:02

Ooh, exciting! How far along will you be on Sunday ChikiTIKI?

I’ve just received an appointment for my scan, and, typically, it is right in the middle of the week I was supposed to be visiting my sister. Now I’ve got to rearrange it for a couple of days later when I’m already so impatient! Mind you, I can’t get through to the appointments line so I may have to just cancel the trip.

ChikiTIKI · 22/06/2021 17:13

@ogwen I will be 9 weeks and 2 days if calculations correct and all going well. I've only had 3 periods since having dc2 early last year, one in October last year (a day of light spotting really) , one in March this year and one in April. The March and April ones were 5 weeks apart so I'm assuming I'm on a 5 week cycle now.

Ooh when is your scan? Shame you have to rearrange, I'm sure you'll get through eventually though. Took me a couple of tries to move my booking in appointment but they answered in the end. I moved mine because I can't bear to ask for time off work for it!!

@ChikiTIKI

Talking about signs my 4 year old told me I would have twins a few weeks before the final ivf transfer she also told me what sex they would be....she was right 🤣

ChikiTIKI · 23/06/2021 09:08

Wow that's amazing @ivfgottwins!! Kids know a lot more than we give them credit for... 🙂

I had a private scan today after a little spotting, and it's not twins in my case, only one little one in there.

@ChikiTIKI I think you were worried about a TV scan? I measured 7+1 and they saw it fine with abdominal, and my uterus is retroverted which is meant to make it slightly more difficult

ChikiTIKI · 23/06/2021 19:03

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 sorry about the spotting! Has it stopped now? Did everything look OK on the scan?

Surprised to hear its not twins but still lovely news 🙂

Yeah I'm hoping to avoid TV scan. I have a retroverted uterus also and will be 9 weeks 2 days on Sunday (I think...). I will go with a full bladder (not hard since I'm always so thirsty).

OP posts:
A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 23/06/2021 19:11

@ChikiTIKI yeah it was so hard not to pee, I was desperate!!

Yes she said she could see a little bleed in the uterus, probably from the placenta bedding in a bit. It measured 1cm so she said I might spot a bit more. Obviously only seven weeks so things can still go wrong, but it looks okay at the moment

ChikiTIKI · 23/06/2021 19:41

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that sounds quite positive.

Gosh yeah for my 12 week scan with dc2 I overdid it with the water and had to wee before I set off. Still had a very full bladder by the time I got there again. I had to walk extra slow thinking I might wet myself! For the 20 week scan I had an empty bladder but they couldn't see my cervix so I had to drink water and got called back 20 mins later. Right before they called me I thought "I need a wee", so I think I'll drink 30 mins before the appointment this time instead of an hour.

I'm going to bed now. So exhausted!!

@TheLovleyChebbyMcGee

I'm almost 9 weeks and my DH is convinced its twins! I don't really think so, but it is interesting to hear thirst is a symptom as I've been both really thirsty, but also peeing loads too!!

DH is a twin, but non identical so that's not contributing factor. However, his grandfather was an identical twin, and had 3 other sets of siblings that were identical, so ya never know!

Has anyone heard or read any truth in losing weight can cause multiple egg release, so increasing the chances of twins?

Twins are made when the woman releases two eggs, nothing to do with your DH. Some scientists think that indentical twins can have something to do with the sperm, but most think they are a random occurrence. The fact that your DH and his grandfather are twins won't make any difference.
