Just that really.

Think on Friday I will be about 6 weeks pregnant. I've been feeling SO thirsty all the time for a few weeks now. Never had that with other pregnancies. Also got loads of stretching feelings going on in my uterus often throughout the day. Also it is uncomfortable leaning forwards, I already feel like there is something in there and I tho k my stomach looks bigger already too.

I am still breastfeeding a 1 Yr old so I know that increases chances by 9 times, and my dad is a fraternal twin.

Feeling sick already although only one morning so far has it felt absolutely awful.

Anyone else feeling similar?

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 oh god I know 🙈 but I see it my reward for having to go through IVF. I may not be as lucky this time round though only time will tell I guess.

@RBundy oh yes for sure your reward after the pain and expense of ivf!

moofolk · 17/06/2021 13:25

I had twins and was very, very sick in the early days.

The hormone levels go up and down like crazy in a twin pregnancy.

My first was only a baby and I'd put on a fair bit of weight but it was four months into my twin pregnancy that I stopped losing weight from not keeping food down.

They were both 7lb + bruisers at birth, and I was healthy for the rest of the pregnancy, but it was sickness I hadn't experienced in pregnancy before.

So sickness can be a sign of twin pregnancy but not necessarily.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7

I've been reading this with interest. I had blood tests and a scan done earlier this week at 4 weeks 5 days. My hcg should have been high enough to see a sac at least, so the sonographer suggested possible ectopic, but then asked whether twins run in my family. Two days later my hcg had almost tripled, and is high for five weeks against the normal thresholds. I am SO thirsty all the time, and waking 3-4 times in the night to go to the loo. Only one sac was seen at 5 weeks so 🤷‍♀️
Only one was seen with mine at six weeks, but there was also 'something else'.

A couple of weeks later, that something' had turned into twin two.

Also thirst, and HCG (?) as well as sickness.

ChikiTIKI · 17/06/2021 18:54

That's so interesting @moofolk thanks for sharing your experience!

I wish I knew my hcg levels! Feels like forever until I am going to find anything out.

@moofolk wow congrats on the 7lb twins!! That is interesting about the scan, I guess they're looking for one usually and they're so tiny at that point. Must have been a surprise though when you went back!

@ChikiTIKI eight weeks is great! Hope you manage to stave off the vomiting or find something that works for you. Have you tried the wrist bands or the B6 etc? Wrist bands def work for me for travel sickness, but I feel morning sickness is way beyond this !

TwinsAndTrifle · 18/06/2021 11:04

Sorry for late reply, yes we did go on to have twins.

The only thing I can recall being different to my singleton pregnancy, is being so ill initially. For a period of 3.5 weeks, I didn't leave my bed apart from crawling to the loo. A couple of days, I slept 20 hours per day. 18+ hours most days. The sickness was not recognisable to morning sickness. At about week 9 when I managed to make one doctors appointment, that was when I told my doctor "I believe I'm dying" Confused And I'm really not a dramatic sort, that's honestly how bad it was.

But then a PP says she had twins with no symptoms. Lucky bugger Grin

Has anyone on the thread who is suspecting twins currently, had it confirmed?

ChikiTIKI · 18/06/2021 11:56

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I have wrist bands on today, I'm going to look in to b6 and fi d out more about that. Today is the first day I have thought I need to speak to a doctor about the sickness, but I don't think they'll be interested if I am not vomiting.

@twinsandtrifle god bless you it sounds like your sickness was an absolute ordeal. I hope your doctor was supportive at the time.

@TwinsAndTrifle wow that sounds horrific.

@ChikiTIKI honestly I'd call the Dr, you're not wasting their time, and there might be something they can advise for you

SleepingStandingUp · 18/06/2021 12:53

@andivfmakes3

I had twins and I had zero symptoms x
I read that as I had twins and have zero sympathy 🤣

I had no symptoms with my singleton, feel bloody awful from a few days before period die with my twins

SleepingStandingUp · 18/06/2021 12:55

@moofolk we had the same. 7 week scan, 1 baby. Asked what the second thing was, was told it was the sac or something
12 week scan. Twins.

TwinsAndTrifle · 18/06/2021 16:51

@ChikiTIKI I wasn't ever physically sick, throughout the whole period of feeling terrible.

When I finally did get to the doctors, he said, quite possibly a multiple pregnancy, and essentially told me to go home and stay in bed. Nothing they can really do.

You sound very similar to me...

ChikiTIKI · 18/06/2021 19:01

Oh gosh @twinsandtrifle maybe it really is twins... I can't even get stressed yet about having 4 kids age just turned 4 and below because my husband is out all day tomorrow and I'm just wondering how I will make it through the day 😩

Our gp uses this push doctor app thing, if I'm really struggling again tomorrow I will book an appointment through that.

@SleepingStandingUp

🤣

I can't believe I didn't have any nausea or sickness at all with my twin pregnancy.....I actually felt so guilty I'd whisper to the midwives at the twin clinic that actually I felt amazing as all the other poor ladies looked 🤢

I had more symptoms with the Singleton pregnancies I had which ended in miscarriage

I think I was just on such a high to finally be pregnant with two healthy babies after 7 losses that I just rode a wave of bliss and excitement the whole pregnancy (which ended up being 7.5 months!)

ivfgottwins · 18/06/2021 19:24

@TwinsAndTrifle

But then a PP says she had twins with no symptoms. Lucky bugger

🙋‍♀️ that was me! I did feel a bit guilty about how "good" I felt 🤣 - other than being in maternity wear from 9 weeks I felt "normal"

(I was on sofa/bed rest though from about 20 weeks as I am/was very petite and my body couldn't handle the physical strain - I ended up with a full placental abruption, haemorrhaged and all 3 of us nearly died at 34 weeks but listening to my twins chatter away to each other in their Cots I would totally have more twins! 🤣🤦‍♀️)

ChikiTIKI · 18/06/2021 20:22

Gosh you didn't have an easy ride at all @ivfgottwins, you shouldn't feel guilty at all for not having the sickness. I'm so sorry for all the heartbreak and scary times you've been through.

@ivfgottwins wow you absolutely didn't have an easy ride of it. So lovely you've beautiful twins, but a v traumatic process to get there

RBundy · 19/06/2021 07:57

Hey everyone, just an update on me. I went to the EPU yesterday and they think Ive got an eptopic pregnancy so that is the cause of my bleeding and strong tests. I've got more tests tomorrow and Tuesday to determine more. I'm a little worried and upset but it's a risk you take with IVF I guess.
I want to wish all you lovely ladies the best with your pregnancy's and hope the sickness etc doesn't last long. X

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 19/06/2021 08:01

@RBundy I'm so sorry and so glad you're getting checked out properly by them. I'm really hoping for you that it's not an ectopic. You must be so worried right now. Take care, and if you'd like to, please keep us updated xxx

ivfgottwins · 19/06/2021 08:44

@RBundy

I'm so sorry - I've had 2 ectopics myself which ruptured and ultimately Lost both tubes so I know how traumatic it is x

ChikiTIKI · 19/06/2021 09:09

Not doing to bad this morning so far... Travel bands since I woke up. Had a bacon butty and have been drinking a lot of cordial+water. Just trying to take it easy... 1yo having a nap and 3yo watching telly. Think we may actually venture out once the 1yo wakes up. I need to eat something again already! Will avoid sweet food where I can today, that really set me off yesterday and is something I've had to avoid in other pregnancies.

How are you all? Happy weekend everyone 🙂

ChikiTIKI · 19/06/2021 09:11

I'm so sorry @RBundy

I didn't see today's updates until after my message posted.

I hope it's not ectopic. I'm so sorry you're going through all this. I hope it can be good news for you still.

Thinking of you and sending love xxx

@ChikiTIKI my mum pointed out that there are lots of twins on her side of the family - her cousins and aunts have both had them. I was just thinking of my immediate family really
