@CNMP I had some spotting and got a private scan same day to check it out. Was a tiny haematoma, visible on the scan, and away from the embryo so the said okay

Trinacham · 30/06/2021 18:53

@CNMP I've had brown spotting on and off since I was 6 weeks (9 weeks now). A few pages back I had a scare when this progressed to red blood, and a lot of it, and cramping. I had an early scan (1 week ago today) and all was fine. We saw the heartbeat. So I certainly wouldn't worry about a little bit of spotting! It's very normal. I had a lot worse and all was fine.

CNMP · 30/06/2021 19:18

@Trinacham @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thank you so much for the reassurance.

My doctor mentioned threatened miscarriage and that raised alarm bells. But I’m not experiencing any cramps and it has literally been on two occasions that any brown spotting seen and only when I wipe. I hope he used that terminology to justify the request for a scan if I’m honest. Such a scary process isn’t it xxxx

Sunshine8888 · 30/06/2021 19:35

Hello, just found this thread. I’m 8 weeks today having had an early scan last weekend. This will be my second baby, I already have a little girl who is nearly 15 months. I’m very excited but also nervous and feel like the first trimester will never end. Going to read back through the thread now ☺️

Upsydasiy · 30/06/2021 19:46

First trimester struggles are real here. Hyperemesis with a toddler is not that much fun 😭

Got a private early scan tomorrow and this evening my anxiety is in full swing.

Lcj80 · 30/06/2021 19:53

I had a scan yesterday as I was having some fresh red bleeding. Everything looked ok and they couldn’t see any cause for the bleed. I’ve carried on bleeding though and I’ve got period pain and moderate bleeding 😢 I’m going to see if they will re scan me as I feel like it can’t be normal this amount of blood x

Twelvetimestwo · 30/06/2021 20:50

Has everyone had their vaccine?

Trinacham · 30/06/2021 21:01

@Twelvetimestwo no. I got my text within days of my positive. Decided I'd wait until my 2nd trimester, but still not sure I'll have it at all, whilst pregnant. I would if I was higher risk, ie working in a hospital or care home.

Twelvetimestwo · 30/06/2021 21:03

Yes I was waiting until week 14 maybe. But not that sure actually

overtherainbo · 30/06/2021 21:04

I've had both vaccines. One prior to the pregnancy and one being pregnant (not knowing)

Sunshine8888 · 30/06/2021 21:13

I cancelled my vaccine but will have it after 14 weeks

choccrumpet · 30/06/2021 21:16

I had my first vaccine day before I got a positive test and suspected I was pregnant and would have also gone ahead with it if I had known I definitely was pregnant. That was 3 weeks ago and am currently trying to book my second dose asap

becarefuloutthere · 30/06/2021 21:17

I've had the first dose before pregnancy and cancelled the second, still deciding whether to have it or not. Gp said it was fine in any trimester but I'd rather be out of the first before going ahead. Ivf pregnancy is causing me to be overly cautious I think!

choccrumpet · 30/06/2021 21:18

If anyone is unsure about what they should do, I highly recommend watching this video which goes through many Qs about getting the vaccine whilst ttc, pregnancy or breastfeeding

Skybooks · 30/06/2021 21:20

I've had both vaccines (AstraZeneca) got my second one 2 weeks before BFP

An a little concerned about the effects of AZ in pregnancy

Sunshine8888 · 30/06/2021 21:20

I am also being cautious just because there isn’t enough data at the moment plus have had advice from GP friends to wait. I don’t like being unvaccinated though especially with cases on the rise, makes me feel vulnerable.

Also for those measuring behind at scans, I thought I was 8 weeks but measured at 7+3 at the scan. With my first baby, I was measuring a whole 10 days behind LMP but she caught up and actually came a month early in the end 🙈 so who knows!!

Sunshine8888 · 30/06/2021 21:27

TMI I’m sorry but is anyone else experiencing a lot of watery discharge?! I had to wear a line me throughout first pregnancy but seems really bad so early on this time 😬

Lowkeyloopy · 30/06/2021 23:01

Hi everybody, I introduced myself a few pages back but have been busy at work and not kept up-to-date - it’s been so handy being busy and letting the first trimester days race by tbh!

8 weeks tomorrow, early scan booked on Monday. Fingers crossed for that heartbeat - after a MC in March I’m particularly anxious. This would be first DC.

I’ve been getting nausea when my stomach is empty but not actually sick. Just some super attractive dry heaving. The tiredness hit today and I had an hour’s nap at lunch - thank goodness for WFH! Also getting some twinges right and left and occasionally certain bits of my stomach feel quite hard - anyone getting that? Like I can feel the muscle or ligament pulling itself taut or something!

Also @Sunshine8888 you prompted me to post as I’ve had loads of watery cm! Particularly around 7 weeks - it had me constantly running to the loo worried I was bleeding it felt so damp! It’s eased off a bit now though. Asked midwife at the booking appointment call yesterday and she said it’s totally normal and that as the pregnancy progresses it’ll become thicker and more creamy, less watery. So hope that reassures you like it did me!

Thinking of those of you having a tough time of it at the moment, and hope everyone can stay as relaxed and calm as it’s possible to be at this stage!

Lowkeyloopy · 30/06/2021 23:05

Oh and had anyone else managed to get themselves a UTI yet? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Apparently all the pregnancy hormones make you more prone to them and I had the telltale symptoms turn up yesterday. Fortunately managed to get antibiotics quickly, which seem to be knocking it on the head. Just a word of warning to others - keep drinking and peeing loads! Haha.

xprincessxjanetx · 01/07/2021 00:01

Hi everyone

I am due 22nd feb - ovulated late so expecting to be put back a few days at 12 week scan

This is baby number 6 for us!

haidri · 01/07/2021 00:41

@Lowkeyloopy what are the signs of a UTI other than checking your urine? Are there any common signs that'll warn me?

vmfwh · 01/07/2021 04:49

@Lcj80 I'm in the exact same boat as you but I'm 5+4 at the moment. Was out running errands on Monday and started to bleed and the cramping was getting quite bad. Asked for an emergency scan and they still saw the sac and the yolk which was an absolute surprise to everyone, and said I needed to wait for a heartbeat in a week as it was still too early. No internal bleeding around the sac, no trauma to the cervix, cervix os was still closed, nothing abnormal found. They just could not tell me where the blood is coming from or why. Just said it was a threatened miscarriage for now. Told me to go home and just rest as much as I can and hope for the best at the next scan. It is so so scary and worrying :(

This is my second baby and I did not bleed externally with my first (i had an internal haemorrhage with him but that's a different story) so I don't know what is going on this time around. They told me to rush back to the emergency if it is a gush of blood and if I pass clots or matter out: neither of which I have had so far. If you have any of these, it apparently means you're miscarrying so I was asked to look out for this.

Mine started off as brown blood and started progressing to red blood which started raising alarm bells. So I went back to my doctor and as the bleeding was getting heavier on tuesday she prescribed me duphaston tablets and i got a progesterone injection in my hip to help as well. I was told I will need to get these every week now to reduce the chances of a miscarriage. Is this something your doctor would consider giving you?

I'm now on day 4 of the bleeding and the pills and injection have definitely helped. The bleeding is now more than spotting but much less than a period and the cramps have eased up. I'm trying to rest as much as I can but I also have a 1 year old to look after so it is really hard. I've been asked to visit on Sunday for a scan again because I'll be 6 weeks and by then they should be able to at least see the start of a flicker of a heartbeat and to check if the sac and yolk are still there after all this bleeding. Basically they want to confirm this is still a viable pregnancy :(

How are you doing now? Sending you lots of hugs :)

LKB89 · 01/07/2021 07:29

I started with some brown spotting last night and still have it this morning, bit more 😢 so scared!

I'm 6 weeks and 4 days, I've been awake since 5am online reading up about it and it seems fairly normal but also can go the other way!

Why can't it just be plain sailing, I have the fear in me all the time!
