Congrats @Miller2021 ! Very exciting!

In my area you just self refer to midwife, which is nice as you can pick the hospital. Just a quick form and they call you at 7/8 weeks for booking in

Lowkeyloopy · 11/06/2021 10:59

Hi all! Hoping you’re all doing well. 5 weeks + 1 day for me now and I’m really trying to settle into it and believe that this pregnancy will stick! Monday is the day to beat as I MC’d at 5+4 last time but my lines are way darker than last time so I’m hoping all is ok. Felt a bit sick yesterday which (stupidly) I was so pleased about as it felt reassuring!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I’m with you on the disturbed sleep - I wake up about 3 times a night at the moment.

@Miller2021 I also just self referred to the midwives - I think most places that’s what the GP will tell you to do. I just filled in a form and then about a week later got my letters through with booking appointment and scan dates! No harm in waiting a bit though, as the booking appointment won’t be for a few more weeks. Last time mine was (meant to be) at 10 weeks. This time it’s 7 but I reckon that’s only because I sounded like a nervous wreck in the form talking about the previous MC!

Lbiddis · 11/06/2021 11:03

@PeonyBlushSuede congrats! Think we’re due close together, still feels so early doesn’t it

@Tabbycat92 I’m so bloated but still lots of lockdown weight. I’ve resorted to using a hairband already but mostly just because the tightness feels so uncomfortable

MabelH · 11/06/2021 11:17

I did it- I’m wearing mine 🤣 massive tummy anyway so the littlest bloat makes me so Uncomfy

Miller2021 · 11/06/2021 11:43

Thank you @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and @Lowkeyloopy - I just phoned my GP and they told me to self-refer to midwife, but not until 7 weeks!

I feel a bit lost now - they didn't ask for my name or anything, so GP still doesn't know... I'm probably being silly but it feels like someone official should know about this?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/06/2021 11:59

@Miller2021 I think you're still good if the GP doesn't know. If there's a problem like cramping and bleeding you can still call GP and they can refer to to the early pregnancy unit. If there's not a problem though, they don't really need to do anything, midwife will pick it up at time for booking in.

You can get an early private scan though from six weeks ☺️

Lowkeyloopy · 11/06/2021 12:04

@Miller2021 I remember feeling like that last time. Like getting pregnant for the first time was a massive thing that had just happened to me, which is a huge health deal as well, yet.. no-one cares for another two months?! It did irritate me, but I guess there isn’t really anything for them to do at this stage - we just need to eat healthily and take folic acid…

I guess sadly it’s so normal for so many early pregnancies not to make it to 7 weeks, so they can’t throw precious NHS resources at people who are only 5 weeks pregnant.

Still difficult though!

Miller2021 · 11/06/2021 12:05

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Thank you - that makes sense. I've looked into early private scans and we might do that around the 8-week mark, it's much cheaper than I expected!

Lowkeyloopy · 11/06/2021 12:07

And yes as @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7, if you have severe cramping or bleeding, do call GP! Though I found 111 more helpful than my GP tbh - I had to fill in an online consultation form for the GP and by the time I heard back from them the MC had already happened (not that anything could have stopped it) and I’d been to the Urgent Care Centre twice and was booked in for an EPU scan. This jolly GP chap was like “I hear you’ve been having some stomach pain?” I think I said “let me catch you up…”

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/06/2021 12:53

@Miller2021 I know the scans are pretty cheap aren't they! I thought they'd be a lot more also. I had a scan at 5 weeks and they can just about see a sac and a yolk (suspected ectopic last time so wanted to make sure it was right place), but 8 weeks sounds good for a heartbeat etc and to see a little more!

Winterfellismyhome · 11/06/2021 13:10

Tentatively joining :) current 5+2 and due February 9th. Been feeling a bit sick the last few days but my cramps have all but stopped now. Also absolutely knackered Smile

Clareabelle24 · 11/06/2021 13:54

I phoned my drs who gave me a number to ring for the midwife centre. It was just a voicemail to leave all my details and they'll be in touch. I'm 6 weeks today so doubtful I'll hear anything yet. I phoned last week.

I'm also struggling to fit into my clothes

Miller2021 · 11/06/2021 14:06

@Lowkeyloopy Yep I assumed that was the reason, if people are notifying them as soon as they get the BFP then they must get women phoning up in week 3 these days. I guess I just want it to be on my official record, otherwise it's not true!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Yeah I've read a lot about weeks 6-7 being pretty big in foetal development terms so I'm thinking get scanned in week 8, then the 12-week scan won't be too far away. We also don't want to tell close family until around the 8-week mark (assuming we can stop ourselves) so if we can tie it into a scan date as well, that's pretty good. Private scans around here are about 80 quid, so well worth it.

PeonyBlushSuede · 11/06/2021 17:28

@Lbiddis definitely still feels so early. I have a proper line now though that makes it feel more real!
Now to contact my GP surgery for next steps

Lbiddis · 11/06/2021 18:01

@PeonyBlushSuede aw yay for the darker line!! I have managed to thoroughly confuse myself, based on af date I should be 4 weeks exactly today (although I spotted for 10 days before that !?! Joy! and really thought I was having issues) but just did a digital and it read as 3+ so now I’m so confused and wondering if I’m further along than I thought eek

Lowkeyloopy · 11/06/2021 18:06

@Lbiddis Or it’s twins… 🙂

Lbiddis · 11/06/2021 18:07

@Lowkeyloopy haha oh please no

JLL1990 · 11/06/2021 18:32

I’m also due early Feb! Had an implantation bleeding I thought was my period followed a week’s worth of positive OPK. Did a test and got my bfp tuesday. Due Feb 6 😃

Congratulations everyone!

chelsea93lucas · 11/06/2021 20:48

I had an early scan today and all she could see was a small sac, too small to see anything else. I'm 5+2 but I have 32 day cycles and ovulate late. Has anyone else had this?

I've got to go back Sunday for more bloods to make sure my levels are rising 🤞🏼 fingers crossed for me please x

Huffthepuff · 12/06/2021 09:29

@chelsea93lucas fingers crossed for you lovely. The waiting is awful xx Hopefully the next blood test can give you some reassurance

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 12/06/2021 10:00

@chelsea93lucas do you know what your blood results were for the day of the scan? And what's your gestational age based on ovulation date?

I think the yolk is visible from 5 weeks to 5.5 weeks but your hcg needs to be higher like more than 2000 to see it. They couldn't see anything on my 1st scan (hcg 1500) but saw it two days later when my hcg rose to almost 4000. I was worried but apparently it's normal and just depends on how your levels are rising

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 12/06/2021 10:05

@chelsea93lucas also might be worth calculating how far along you are based on ovulation date in that case - there are calculators online. They put that in my notes as I ovulated CD 17 as opposed to standard CD14. So the first day they scanned me I was only actually 4 weeks 5 days

chelsea93lucas · 12/06/2021 10:44

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 my HCG level was 1200 or something a bit over than that I think, I am 18 days past ovulation so I know it's not much

I'm hoping my levels have doubled tomorrow so they will re scan me in two weeks time 🤞🏼 x

chelsea93lucas · 12/06/2021 10:45

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I ovulated cycle day 21 so that's very late compared to the standard 14 isn't it! So I will be very early still 🤞🏼

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 12/06/2021 10:59

@chelsea93lucas yes I'd think you'd still be early to see anything yet, and your hcg seems a good level for 18dpo!
