feistymumma · 12/07/2021 09:53

Congratulations to all the new mums. How exciting!! I have my induction booked for 430pm today, had a sweep on Saturday and have been having on and off contractions plus lost my plug so fingers crossed it's a quick one

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 12/07/2021 09:56

Good luck @feistymumma !

So exciting hearing all the baby news, just wish my baby would get the message and hurry up! Grin

feistymumma · 12/07/2021 10:48

Thank you @FirstTimeMummy2021. When are you due, this waiting around is the worst

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

Good luck *@feistymumma*
Thank you @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE. I've just had a call from my hospital asking if I mind going to their sister sister Lewisham Hospital as they are too busy at Queen Elizabeth and I refused. I live about 5 minutes drive from QE and have already made plans re child care, picking up from school etc to start unpicking them to factor Lewisham which is about an hours drive with traffic plus limited parking.
Fartymcfart · 12/07/2021 20:34

Congratulations on all the new babies.

@Mummy2O can I ask how your pre-op went? I have mine on Wednesday for a Friday CS!

Mummy2O · 12/07/2021 20:57

@Fartymcfart It was fine. I was there for a couple of hours. I was seen by a midwife, a junior doctor and an anaesthetist. I had my weight taken (by far the worst bit Grin), my blood taken and had a covid test. They checked the baby's heart beat and did a quick scan to confirm that he is breech. The team each went through their areas with me, explaining the risks and what to expect. I've been given extra reflux medication to take the night before and the morning of the op.

I wrote a list of questions I wanted to ask out beforehand so I didn't forget anything, which I found useful as I have a brain like a sieve at the moment.

Now it is just a waiting game until Thursday.

PurpleCurtain · 13/07/2021 08:15

Thanks everyone and hope everything goes well for all of you still waiting! @feistymumma sounds perfectly reasonable not wanting to change hospitals at this point!

Fartymcfart · 13/07/2021 09:16

Thanks @Mummy2O, hope everything goes well for you on Thursday.

Mummy2O · 13/07/2021 09:21

@PurpleCurtain and @feistymumma Couldn't agree more. I can't imagine many would want to change their plans at this point.

@Fartymcfart Thank you. I hope you pre-op goes well tomorrow and all goes smoothly on Friday for you.

Baby girl arrived early this morning after 8h labour since waters broke as we went to bed last night.

Tore 3 ways, second degree as rushed the pushing out bit, but otherwise no complaints.
7lb 4.

Mummy2O · 13/07/2021 14:29

Congratulations @onanadventure!! Hope your recovery is quick.

Foxglovesandlilacs86 · 13/07/2021 16:29

Congratulations 🎉 you must be loving having baby girl here.

I had a sweep on Monday and besides a few Braxton hicks here and there no action yet

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 14/07/2021 06:33

Similar to @onanadventure - Baby boy arrived yesterday morning after my waters went spontaneously at home. Relatively speedy delivery, needed an episiotomy but both doing well so far.

Congrats @FirstTimeMummy2021!

I'm meant to have my 38 week appointment tomorrow, but I've just been contacted by DDs school to tell me that her year group has to isolate due to a positive covid case.

While I do t have to isolate as DD is the only direct contact, dd is too young to be left alone while I go to the appointment.

Can anyone remember what actually happens at the 38 week appointment as the only other appointment they could offer me was on DDs last day of isolation, which does give me time to find someone to watch her, but if I can't then I'll just have to skip it and go to the 40 week appointment.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 14/07/2021 11:38

I think the main things are bump measuring, checking bp and urine

Could they do a 39 week app maybe?

OP posts:
Sweetpea12 · 14/07/2021 12:27

At my 38 week it was just blood pressure and urine sample checked and bump measurements taken

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 14/07/2021 12:40

I think i had blood taken at mine actually too as they wanted to see how i was doing for iron

We had an eventful night. Our little boy didn't fancy waiting until tomorrow. My waters went at 3am, but I didn't have any contractions. Because of the group B strep I had to go straight in and get on IV antibiotics. I had a c section sometime around 6.30am. We are both doing fine. Grin

@Warrickdaviesasplates I am so sorry to hear you have to isolate. I hope you are all OK.

@FirstTimeMummy2021 Congratulations!!!

Warrickdaviesasplates · 14/07/2021 13:22

Thanks, they did tell me they could do a 39 weeks instead but the only day they can do that week is the last day of DD's isolation so I'm worrying I won't be able to get anyone to watch her during that time and then I'd have to cancel again.

Does sound like one of definitely have to go to in person as I was thinking of asking if they could do a phone appointment instead.

I'll just have to try and get someone to watch DD for my appointment. Annoyingly DH has just started a new job so can't take a lot of time off at short notice and I need him to prioritise my 40 week appointment as I'll have my sweep then.
