Possibly too much information for you this morning but…. How do I know if my waters have broken or if it was wee? I stood up and out it came! I’ve had a sniff and that’s not giving much away either. Don’t want to go in to be told I’ve just weed myself and always feel judged at the ‘this is your first baby isn’t it’

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 28/06/2021 08:23

@peanutButterFalcon I'd go and get checked out personally as I think I'd know if it was wee! I know my maternity unit are so understanding (had a late night visit yesterday for reduced movements) and would much rather we went in to be checked out.

CoffeeAndCaramel · 28/06/2021 08:28

@PeanutButterFalcon definitely get checked! How exciting!!!

I hardly slept a wink last night kept waking up with braxton hicks, they got quite intense and took my breath away a few times I did start to wonder if things were starting but nothing this morning 🤷‍♀️

Mummy2O · 28/06/2021 10:07

@PeanutButterFalcon The same thing happened to me with my first. Definitely best to get checked out. My contractions started a little while afterwards.

PurpleCurtain · 28/06/2021 11:13

@PeanutButterFalcon you've probably already called by now but a friend of mine was told to lie down for approx 45 mins and then stand up again and rejudge, as if it's your waters they pool in your vagina. For her it was just an excess of discharge apparently!!!

pinkgin8 · 28/06/2021 15:02

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE any news on a second sweep? X

Warrickdaviesasplates · 28/06/2021 15:31

I've just been told by my midwife that I'm allowed a home birth if I want it, I just need to let her know by next week so she can do an assessment.

Is anyone here having, or has previously had, a home birth? I'm so terribly indecisive I'm not sure if I should go for it or not.

I also booked in a stretch and sweep for the day after my due date. Still a little worried as last time I did not react well but I'm hoping this time I'll be able to relax a bit more and it'll go well and get that baby coming.

PeanutButterFalcon · 28/06/2021 17:00

Thank you everyone. It was definitely waters! Madly packed my bags and baby arrived at 2. I had a sweep and although uncomfortable it definitely made things happen faster. Didn’t think it would be so quick. Good luck to everyone else.

Wrong thread! Have reported my previous post.

Mummy2O · 28/06/2021 18:27

@PeanutButterFalcon Congratulations!! Hope you are both doing OK. Does baby have a name yet? x

I think as lovely as a home birth is, I'd be worried if something went wrong, I'm not at the hospital, for any issue to be dealt with quickly, or if I end up in hospital afterwards anyway I'd be pretty annoyed 🤣 I'm not sure about home births though anyway, I mean , do you go to the hospital after having one every time as routine? Or do you give birth at home and just stay at home? If you needed stitches for example how would that be dealt with? Would they do it at your house or would you have to travel to the hospital?
CoffeeAndCaramel · 28/06/2021 19:31

@PeanutButterFalcon wow congratulations!!

Isn't that 3 babies on the thread now x

Wow! That was quick, congratulations! Hope you're recovering well. Did you have your sweep before your waters broke?
HumunaHey · 28/06/2021 20:01

@PeanutButterFalcon Congratulations. Hope you're both doing well.

Have the babies on here all arrived before due date so far?

@Warrickdaviesasplates I had considered a home birth, mostly for ease of logistics as I'm still not sure where DS1 will go during labour! I've watched lots of positive home birth videos and follow my local home birth team on Instagram. The instagram page often tempts me. It all seems lovely and, as my 1st birth was straightforward, I'm sure I'd be approved for one. Ultimately I think I'd prefer to be in hospital (birthing suite). I actually think I'd be more relaxed there and safer in case anything goes wrong.

My hospital birth with DS1 was lovely. I had a massive birthing pool in a dimly lit room. My MW burned lavender oils and there were yoga/peanut balls around for me to use as I pleased. I had a very active birth but in a spacious and calm (as it could be!) setting.

milkshakeandchips5 · 28/06/2021 21:14

Congrats @PeanutButterFalcon - what a day for you!

To everyone else... does anyone find they have slightly quieter days on movement? I know the advice is always to go in if you're worried but I have an anterior placenta and it's super hard to tell. Baby was going wild at the weekend and I was slamming her feet into my side. Today I can feel movement and have counted at least ten movements in the last hour but they're in a different place and not as strong. My husband has spent an hour with his hand on my belly to reassure me and he can feel movement and just thinks she's shifted position a little but I'm finding it so hard to know what's okay and what isn't!

PeanutButterFalcon · 28/06/2021 21:19

Thank you everyone. Baby doesn’t have a name yet. We are both doing well, although I feel like I have no idea what I am doing,

Had a sweep while they were examining to check it was my waters (which it was) and really intensified the contractions.

Very quick she didn’t seem to like to hang around although I had been feeling off all weekend and was going to ask my midwife today about it.

@milkshakeandchips5 I definitely had times where she would be quieter and as she dropped I think she went behind my placenta again as although I could see movements I couldn’t necessarily feel them as much but definitely get checked if you’re worried.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 29/06/2021 04:11

Baby boy born just after midnight 💙 fairly long labour, no induction just broken waters followed by long wait to get past 4cm

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 29/06/2021 07:39

@PeanutButterFalcon @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

Congratulations both of you! I’m soooo jealous! Can’t wait till it’s me!

Hope you’re both feeling ok? And hope your little babies are doing well too. Let us know names when you get some time xx

PurBal · 29/06/2021 07:47

@PeanutButterFalcon @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE congratulations!!

Warrickdaviesasplates · 29/06/2021 07:51

Wow these babies are coming thick and fast now! Congratulations everyone on the new arrivals.

Thanks to those who got back to me re: home birth. I am fairly torn as I had a great experience in the MLU with my first so that does feel like a safe bet, but giving birth at home sounds so relaxing and I wouldn't have to think about COVID logistics.

Think I might tell the midwife I'd like a home birth and then I'm free to chicken out at any point and go to hospital if I change my mind, but at least the option is there.
