@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE hope your sweep goes well today

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/06/2021 09:43

@grace1989x perhaps have a look on the pregnant then screwed website

@feistymumma I’m glad it’s not just me. Hopefully when baby comes we won’t be this tired! I don’t know how I’m going to be up all night.

@PurBal I’m exactly the same. Few days left until I’m ‘late’ in comparison to everyone else and no signs baby is coming. I feel like it’s going to be induction at 42 weeks at the minute.

@grace1989x can recommend pregnant then screwed but I found them really hard to get hold of when I needed them.

Mummy2O · 23/06/2021 10:24

@grace1989x I am so sorry this has happened yo you. If they didn't communicate any dissatisfaction with your work before this point, or give you feedback at all, you should absolutely get legal advice. As others have said go have a look at the Pregnant then Screwed website.

I hope you are OK. It is a lot to go through all at once. x

grace1989x · 23/06/2021 10:45

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE oh I didn't even know there were sites like that, thanks I'll have a look

grace1989x · 23/06/2021 10:48

@Mummy2O my manager would message about issues with some work and I have to justify my work etc but I noticed she was doing it a lot more since I said I was pregnant And would probably take a year off. I didn't think it'd escalate cause it was never anything serious but I guess she found enough minor errors to justify their decision. I'll definitely get advice and just keep on trying to prepare for the baby and stay excited :)

Mummy2O · 23/06/2021 10:52

@grace1989x Definitely get advice. It doesn't sound fair at all.

How many weeks do you have left now?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/06/2021 11:41

Sweep is done. 100% pain free.

1-2cm dialated and cervix 2cm long and soft so fingers crossed!

I've been really quiet on here lately! How is everyone?? Any more babies?? I'm 36 weeks today, just had a growth scan which consultant is happy with. Was offered a sweep next week ( gestational diabetic) to which I declined so fingers crossed he won't be long! X

CoffeeAndCaramel · 23/06/2021 12:09

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE that sounds positive!! You must be so excited x

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/06/2021 12:51

I've got 5 weeks left but have my sweeps at 38 weeks so 3 weeks time

Going for my sweep tomorrow! Be interesting to see how others get onGrin
Have no doubt it won't do much but hopefully a second or third in a week will do something all together🤞

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/06/2021 18:00

Hi this is my first time posting on this thread but I have been reading along for a while. I am 37 weeks and due 13th July, a little girl, our first baby.

The talk about sweeps has been really interesting. Ive recently been thinking about whether I should go for a sweep if/when it’s offered. I need to do some research on it but can anyone tell me their experience?

pinkgin8 · 23/06/2021 20:47

@filledeberlin

Sometimes midwifes won't do it unless there is a specific reason, some do, but I know tummy2mummy do them for £50 at 39 weeks if your midwife still won't , someone I know is going there in a weeks time

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/06/2021 20:59

Had never even considered there would be a private service for sweeps! Madness!

OP posts:
Mummy2O · 23/06/2021 21:00

I had two sweeps in my first pregnancy, but they didn't do anything. My son was staying put for as long as he could! Grin

pinkgin8 · 23/06/2021 21:48

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE
I had no idea either! I had to research it myself before I was convinced!
It's a good option for women though, that they have somewhere to go , a choice, when a midwife doesn't want to do it.

I take it if a sweep doesn't work within 48hr it won't work at all? Is that right? And it'll be a second one needed?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/06/2021 21:59

I think i read that yes @pinkgin8, i havent been offered another the mw seemed pretty happy i didnt have long left 🤞

Sorry if I'm being thick but what would be the reasons for midwives not wanting to do a sweep? By that do you mean they'd rather send you straight for induction? I feel like I'm not very clued up on sweeps in general...

pinkgin8 · 23/06/2021 22:52

I think sometimes some midwifes don't do a sweep unless there is a medical reason with your or baby / the pregnancy. That's just how some are, they won't offer until your 40 weeks, because they don't want to "interfere" making the baby come early if they don't have a "proper reason" which is why it's good places offer them privately if that happens.
Where as some from 37 weeks onwards are ok referring you for a sweep for whatever your reason (within reason)

I didn't even know what a sweep was until maybe three weeks ago if that! Didn't even know they existed 🤣
