@TiredAlreadyOhDear i'm glad you said that because i am too :) Luckily i work from home - i'm only get stat mat pay so seemed silly to finish any earlier.

Sweetpea12 · 21/06/2021 15:30

Anyone any experience with baby in oblique position? My midwife noticed it today at my 36 week appointment so I’ve a hospital appointment on Monday for something else and she said they will check me over in regards to babies position then too. Of course I’ve been on Google then starting to panic that he won’t have enough time to move himself so was hoping someone else has had this happen also and has advice or positive experience Smile

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 21/06/2021 16:31

@Jane1811 I work from home too so thought I’ll work for as long as I can! Also I’m expecting to be overdue so even if I finish on my due date I might still get a bit of time to relax after haha xx

pinkgin8 · 21/06/2021 20:12

just had some thoughts on questions to ask when i go to the hospital in a few days for a sweep.
what are the chances of it working at 37 weeks
can you offer a second and third one within 48hrs of each
is it a danger to baby by doing a sweep at 37 weeks
would it potentially make labour pain worse
are there any risks
do you suggest doing anything after a sweep to increase the chances of it working
if you do a sweep or 3 and they dont work do you have to go ahead with a medical induction or can you leave it to start on its own with no more intervention
are there any more non medical options to enduce labour
will a sweep cause the chance of baby needing intervention during or after birth

i feel like i am thinking into it way to much and worrying but i read some old forums on here with women who had sweeps or asked about having sweeps and people say it can be dangerous to make baby come before they are ready etc or how the last two weeks of pregnancy are extremely important but if that was the case im not sure why my midwife was so relaxed and laid back about it

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 21/06/2021 20:23

After some blood tinged discharge the other day i think i have now definitley started having my bloody show. Cant decide if i should tidy up or sleep

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 21/06/2021 20:31

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE sleep!!! It could be soon! So exciting!

pinkgin8 · 21/06/2021 20:31

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

woo hoo! hopefully this is the start of things progressing for you!
its a difficult one, if i were you i would want to tidy, just in case baby did make an arrival, but when i did that last time i put myself into labour a week early, it could go either way!

I would vote sleep Grin

@Sweetpea12 mine seems to be somewhere between transverse and oblique a lot of the time (though not at my last midwife appt!). Midwife had said that if he was transverse / oblique at 36 weeks they would send me for a scan and then potentially the hospital might want me in from 37.5 weeks until delivery, with regular monitoring and potentially a c section booked in for about 38.5 weeks if he hadn't turned, or induction as soon as he had, given the increased cord prolapse risk... but, as I say, he'd moved by my midwife appt, though seems to be keeping on shifting! In general it sounds like for first babies it's pretty likely they'll turn even now though, so I'm trying not to be concerned and am just trying to keep an eye on where I think he is!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 21/06/2021 20:58

Actually. I should finish packing Blush

OP posts:
Sweetpea12 · 22/06/2021 00:20

@PurpleCurtain that is good to know I’m hoping the baby moves again this is first time he’s been in this position all other times he’s been checked he was just head down or breech the once. I’m such a worrier because of Google and my urge to know the worst scenario so in the event it’s not the worst then I feel really relived. The closer it gets to having a baby I suppose like all mums I just want him here safe now

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 22/06/2021 07:33

Well i am still here. Some period pains on and off and a bit more show this morning

OP posts:
tobeornottobe1 · 22/06/2021 09:27

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE hopefully today , if not could you get a sweep to see if it would speed things up for you? X

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 22/06/2021 09:30

Sweep is booked for tomorrow morning! I have family doing school runs for me today so i am just pottering trying to get everything ready around the house! Might have a nap with the one year old later though 😴

Anyone else absolutely exhausted? The burst of energy seems to have vanished and now all i want to do is sleep, which doesn’t seem to be that easy. 38 weeks this week!

I go though phases of being exhausted and down in the dumps, or have the need to manically clean everything. Today I've cleaned all the kitchen cabinets inside and out, took me so much longer than usual as I need to keep stopping for a rest! I just want everything perfect for when she's here and not be worried about housework! I'm 37 weeks atm.
PeanutButterFalcon · 22/06/2021 17:16

@Luckyelephant1 I did all the kitchen cupboards not too long ago and the airing cupboard. I now want things perfect but I can’t stay awake to do it.
At least it’s no so hot now. Cleaning last week was impossible

PurpleCurtain · 22/06/2021 18:53

Jealous of this cleaning motivation... I've never been much of a cleaner Blush Can barely keep up with the cleaning "must dos" let alone these extra things! Dread to think when I last cleared out my kitchen cupboards. I am toying with buying a spot carpet cleaner in the prime day deals though, given inevitable baby-related spills... does anyone have one? To be honest we had a big carpet cleaner and always found it too much effort to use; at the moment I just buy bottles of Dr Beckmanns carpet cleaner in case of stains and otherwise just hoover, so thought a spot cleaner might be better! Currently 37+5, the last two mornings I've been feeling BH kick in. Also I get randomly get pain on my lower back as well as on the side from mid to lower. Also feel my bladder being squash and every time I move everything hurts.
Is this normal?

Mummy2O · 22/06/2021 20:47

@LadySB89 It could be that baby is pressing on a nerve. Mine has been doing that. I also get direct kicks the the bladder - fun stuff. It can't hurt mention it to your midwife.

grace1989x · 23/06/2021 07:10

Morning everyone I'm jumping on to see how you're all doing. I'm 35+2 and due on 26 July. But I'm having sweeps from 38 weeks so trying to get everything ready. I started a new job in January but last week I was told I didn't pass probation and was let go. After my manager went digging into my work look for errors and issues ( nothing major was found but they made a huge fuss about minor errors), I don't think they were happy I was pregnant (only hun found out three weeks before starting). Trying not to get stressed or down about the situation. Has anyone got any tips on staying stress free and positive?

I am beyond exhausted too. 36+2 this week. I get exhausted just moisturising my body :). I really hope he makes an early appearance as at this point I've actually had enough

Morning, I'm so sorry to hear the news about your probation. Are you sure they followed all policies and procedures? Ask them for their probationary policy, they just can't say you haven't passed because of minor errors if they weren't communicated to you. Sounds like they are not happy you are pregnant as you suggested which is sex discrimination. Are you a member of a union? The last thing anyone needs especially when pregnant is to lose their job.
PurBal · 23/06/2021 07:55

@PeanutButterFalcon I'm napping every afternoon for around 45 minutes. Utterly shattered.

38+1 today. Mentioned before that "all babies in my family are early". So I'm now "late" according to my family and the comments are getting on my nerves "you'll be the only one who has ever gone this late" etc. Baby hasn't dropped, discharge hasn't changed, no show. Literally don't feel like this baby is anywhere near arriving! Logically I know all is fine and movements are still good, but there's a little frustration and worry for sure.

Also, I ate the snacks from my hospital bag last night...

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 23/06/2021 08:09

No baby. No more show. No nothing.

@PurBal you will probably go into labour now you have no food

grace1989x · 23/06/2021 08:38

@feistymumma yeah ur was a bit of a shock to me and I chose to leave quietly as I didn't want the stress. I'm not part of a union but I'm going to get some legal advice as I was treated unfairly. Thank you for your advice, if really sucks to lose my job while pregnant, I have never been let go from a job so it's a bit of a shock.
