This heat is starting to make me think about how on earth I’m going to keep the baby cool when he arrives mid July 🥵 anybody got any tips for keeping bedrooms cool?! We’ve got a fan, keep the curtains shut during the day etc. Someone I know recommended (for me) those puppy cooling mats for post-birth which I thought sounded like a major life hack!
I feel ridiculous worrying so much considering there are babies born in much hotter climates, but here we are!
My first DC was born in June and we had a very hot summer that year. I found it less stress than I think I would have in the winter tbh.
He just had a nappy on around the house and mostly rompers to go out in. During the night he was just in a vest and nappy. We kept curtains closed and windows opened during the day as previously mentioned. We also had a fan and put a bowl of ice infront of it to make the air a little cooler when it was extremely hot. The difficulty for me was that we coslept as DC was a serious velcro baby initially! He would want to sleep snuggled right into me and I was so conscious I'd be drenching him with sweat and making him significantly hotter, hence the bowl of ice infront of the fan!
Other than that, I liked the fact I didn't have to worry about putting too many layers on him at night and central heating being too high and him over heating that way. Or worry that he'd be too cold.
