I've been told I can go in next week when I reach 37 weeks to arrange a sweep if I want one Shock

Warrickdaviesasplates · 14/06/2021 13:24

How is everyone managing to eat at the moment?

I always struggle to eat much in the heat but I feel that my appetite has completely disappeared. I've been managing to eat a little bit of fruit and yoghurt, but I almost feel full all the time.

I've been waking up almost constantly through the night. Not helped by 2 year old DS climbing into my bed around 3am and DH's snoring.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 14/06/2021 13:29

As in you could have one at 37 weeks @pinkgin8?

@Devonfirsttimemum93

This heat is starting to make me think about how on earth I’m going to keep the baby cool when he arrives mid July 🥵 anybody got any tips for keeping bedrooms cool?! We’ve got a fan, keep the curtains shut during the day etc. Someone I know recommended (for me) those puppy cooling mats for post-birth which I thought sounded like a major life hack!

I feel ridiculous worrying so much considering there are babies born in much hotter climates, but here we are!

I'm worrying about this too! I read somewhere to keep the blinds/curtains in your room closed all day so the room doesn't get too warm from the sun shining in so I was going to do this and keep the windows open in the day too. Will probably forgo any sleeping blankets and suits and just do a vest and nappy if it gets very very warm and a cooler bath to bring her temp down before bedtime. I'm not looking forward to it!
Sweetpea12 · 14/06/2021 14:30

I’m finding I don’t have much appetite either I’m having small things more often during the day. I did however have appetite for the cake from my baby shower 😂

PeanutButterFalcon · 14/06/2021 14:37

@Warrickdaviesasplates I’m the same just do not want to eat anything. Living on salad!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 14/06/2021 14:41

I think i have everyone elses appetite which may explain the size of my baby Blush

PurpleCurtain · 14/06/2021 15:42

I'm definitely still very hungry... but only for certain things at the minute as I'm still pretty nauseous. Pretty much anything sweet (thankfully including fruit!) or potato based!

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 14/06/2021 17:33

I’m hungry too more so than usual I think! I’ve booked onto swimming tonight and have zero motivation for it - I need some motivation before 8pm! Hahaha

I feel ridiculous worrying so much considering there are babies born in much hotter climates, but here we are!

My first DC was born in June and we had a very hot summer that year. I found it less stress than I think I would have in the winter tbh.

He just had a nappy on around the house and mostly rompers to go out in. During the night he was just in a vest and nappy. We kept curtains closed and windows opened during the day as previously mentioned. We also had a fan and put a bowl of ice infront of it to make the air a little cooler when it was extremely hot. The difficulty for me was that we coslept as DC was a serious velcro baby initially! He would want to sleep snuggled right into me and I was so conscious I'd be drenching him with sweat and making him significantly hotter, hence the bowl of ice infront of the fan!

Other than that, I liked the fact I didn't have to worry about putting too many layers on him at night and central heating being too high and him over heating that way. Or worry that he'd be too cold.

mariebaby3 · 14/06/2021 17:59

I’m soo paranoid today, DD has come home from her school/dads feeling really poorly and we’ve been told to get her a covid test. We’ve been super careful but she’s in secondary school so always a risk. Results will be with us in about 12 hours but just soo anxious being 35 weeks and knowing the risks :(

Vie8126 · 14/06/2021 19:06

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE no it's not normal practise and my midwife said if you aren't favourable it will do nothing. Due to being a high risk pregnancy I am not allowed over my due date and have an induction booked for my due date (not hormonal) as I've had a previous c section (hoping for my 3rd vbac) my consultant agreed as I've laboured by myself 3 times already to give me a chance to not have the induction that it's recommended I have a 38 and 39 week sweep. If at 38 weeks it doesn't look like it will work following an internal they won't do it and will wait a week. They are hoping 4th baby that things should look good at 38 weeks. I'm working towards 38 weeks haha.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 14/06/2021 19:11

I'm on baby 6 so also hopeful my body is remembering what it needs to do fairly soon @Vie8126! My induction (balloon) is booked for 39 weeks

OP posts:
Vie8126 · 14/06/2021 19:26

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I'm sure it will!! People keep giving me horror story 4th baby labour stories I'm like I don't want to know!! Mine is dialapan induction but don't want it or looking forward to it! I would have thought you'd get a sweep at 38 weeks easy if you ask 😊

Mummy2O · 14/06/2021 20:00

My appetite is still here, but my reflux is starting to come back with a vengeance. Probably doesn't help that I practically chain ate choc ices yesterday. Hmm

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 14/06/2021 20:03

Hope so!

My fourth was born following a completely unpainful sweep a couple of days before due date. He was back to back and the contractions were bad but the whole thing was only 5 hours and i am rating it as my second best so far

Lullabymummy17 · 15/06/2021 05:05

Good morning everyone!
I'm sorry to hear most of you are struggling with the heat! I can thoroughly recommend nobbly bobbly's do the trick of keeping you cool 😉
Hopefully July won't be too warm for the babies. We have been in hospital this whole week and the babies have had 4 blankets on each at the recommendation of the midwives and they've not overheated but they are small babies (4.3 & 5.3)
I'm sure I'll have this worry when I get them home and if I need to continue this or its too warm for them!
We are being discharged today! I cried happy tears all day yesterday, my hormonal up the wall, as I'll be going home to my DD!
Only a few more hours now!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 15/06/2021 06:56

Oh bless you @Lullabymummy17! Such good news that you can go home already! Grin i bet you can't wait to get there!

37 weeks today and I permanently feel like I've been overdoing it at the gym.

PurBal · 15/06/2021 07:43

Also babies in my family are generally early so baby is already "late for the family" according to some relatives. Driving me nuts.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 15/06/2021 08:03

Welcome to the 37 weeks club @PurBal, are you "ready"?

OP posts:
TiredAlreadyOhDear · 15/06/2021 08:25

@Lullabymummy17 so pleased for you! What great news!!

I’m 36 weeks tomorrow still not packed my bloody bag! I’ll start tonight- hopefully!

Anyone else struggling for motivation at work? X

PurBal · 15/06/2021 08:32

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

Welcome to the 37 weeks club *@PurBal*, are you "ready"?
@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I think so, though no doubt I've forgotten something. As my paediatrician friend says "there's nothing you can't get at a 24 hour Asda or Amazon Prime" - a good mantra I think! How are you doing?
THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 15/06/2021 08:39

Well i still havent finished my bags at 37+2 Blush everyday i plan to do it, and then i just dont

OP posts:
PurpleCurtain · 15/06/2021 09:37

@TiredAlreadyOhDear and @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE... 36+3 here and I'm forcing myself to add two items a day to mine... would recommend rather than the overwhelming feeling of doing it all! I feel like I'm nearly there!
