Does anyone know what happens with face masks during birth for us and partner? I will ask my midwife but not sure whether to take a few in case we have to wear them all the time and they get really hot!

Flittingaboutagain · 05/06/2021 17:53

Patients don't have to wear masks except in communal areas but partners do at all times hhere.

Mummy2O · 05/06/2021 18:06

Does anyone know what post birth visiting is like for partner? Are they allowed to visit at all?

Lullabymummy17 · 05/06/2021 18:13

@Pinkroseuk partners in our hospital do have to wear them at all times. Mums didn't if they were in their cubicle. I did going to the toilet etc.

@mummy20 I think it will vary for each hospital. My hospital visiting times are 2-6.

Pinkroseuk · 05/06/2021 18:30

Thanks both. I will check our local - no way hubby is going to cope with a mask on for more than hour or so - he finds it really hard to wear Sad

Flittingaboutagain · 05/06/2021 18:38

My hospital is allowing partners for 2 hour slots twice a day on the antenatal ward. The labour ward is still very hit and miss according to Facebook.

Anyone else really breathless? 36 weeks today and feeling pretty crappy

bigbeatmanifesto · 06/06/2021 12:07

Hey! I'm due July 19th but will be having my 3rd (and final) section on July 14th, my 2 previous sections I had my spinal sat upright and it was really hard to concentrate on my breathing I have a needle phobia and after discussing at length with my midwife alternate routes of section anaesthesia I've decided to go through with a 3rd spinal, I'm wondering though has anyone here had experience of receiving their spinal laying on their side? As I really feel this would benefit me and allow me to concentrate on my breathing, sitting hunched over is uncomfortable as it is with my bump, and the needle etc, it's the one thing I can't get out of my head when it comes to my sections I just can't seem to get past receiving the needle, it'd be great to hear from someone who has been on their side already lying down compared to sitting upright. ♥️

HumunaHey · 06/06/2021 17:33

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE Not exactly breathless in that sense but I'm suffering abad case of pregnancy rhinitis and haven't been able to breathe through my nose at all for the last week or so. It's making sleep even worse than the usual 3rd trimester difficulties and is tiring me out. Roll on due date!

@bigbeatmanifesto I've no experience of that myself. Might be worth starting a thread about it if no one comes along on here . There might be lots who have experienced it on MN but aren't currently pregnant.

Bunny2021 · 06/06/2021 18:25

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE - yep! 32+4 and so breathless today. Was trying to cook a d hold a conversation earlier. Struggled so badly!

Sweetpea12 · 06/06/2021 19:08

I’m 34 weeks tomorrow and feel at times out of breath from the least wee thing and I’m starting to feel like using the stairs is a workout! Has anyone else randomly started feeling nausea again towards the end of their pregnancy? I started having it just a few days ago and smell aversion again similar to first 12 weeks of being pregnant

HumunaHey · 06/06/2021 19:47

@Sweetpea12 I had that a few times a couple of weeks ago. It was very annoying as you think you're over certain bad parts of pregnancy and it just comes back to haunt you!

Chunkybutfunky87 · 06/06/2021 19:49

35+1 . . Heavy, uncomfortable, hard to move, breath, permanent groin ache and mum guilt from all the 'sorry sweet, I can't do that' to my DD (4 years) playing is hard - getting down on the floor a nightmare. Managed to get her to the park with hubby yesterday and today at least so she didn't feel completely neglected.

I'm just ready now, baby breech, big and so will be having a conversation on next appointment to discuss options.

Eugh, roll on July EnvyGrin

Vie8126 · 06/06/2021 19:52

Can we also talk formula.... Its been so long for me and what I used for my daughter 12 years ago I'm not sure is even made anymore! Those that are formula feeding or getting a stock of formula what are you going for?

The cot went up yest like eeek this is happening. Anyone got their prams up? Mines still in the box but was told to get it out and put together incase anything is missing.

Have not been sleeping well had the week off but been running around after teenagers and feel like I haven't tested at all. Randomly burst into tears tonight like no idea why. I have 3 more weeks of work all the baby clothes to wash etc. Only saving grace is my middle one just left school so I've dropped a pre work school run yayyyy.

Owlette123 · 06/06/2021 20:31

@Vie8126 I just picked Aptamjl last time, no particular reason lol so I'll be sticking with it this time as DD never had any issues with it.

I've got a 6 starter pack for hospital bag with the mini bottles with teats in too.

Pushchair is from last time but I've had it professionally cleaned and it's now in babies room waiting. I still need to put the isofix base in my car ready though.

I think because I'm still working, it hasnt quite sunk in yet that I need to get a wiggle on. Crib is up but just want to get his room organised in general still and finish packing hospital bag

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 06/06/2021 20:36

Because of how tight regulations on formula are they are all pretty similar. I was once told to go with whatever you can get easiest so thats what i do. My big 4 had aptamil but dc5 and this one are on cow and gate.

Flittingaboutagain · 06/06/2021 21:45

I've had some funny looks when people have asked me how I am and I've mentioned nausea but good to know it's not me imagining it!'

I have gone for a formula without the added prebiotics; downside is it doesn't come in a starter pack.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 07/06/2021 07:33

I was sick randomly the other morning and have felt a bit iffy here and there too but i thought that may be down to it being so warm!

@Lullabymummy17 good luck for today Flowers

I had lots of BH overnight, i think a couple might have even woken me up but nothing since i have been up this morning

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 07/06/2021 07:46

@Lullabymummy17 good luck today! :)

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I feel a bit off it today as well - woken up with a sore throat and had the worst nights sleep I’ve ever had! So today is officially going to be work then a lazy day of resting.

Sorted my travel system too - ended up getting a refund from the place I originally ordered from and getting one delivered this week from another shop!

Lullabymummy17 · 07/06/2021 08:12

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE @tiredalreadyohdear thank you! I'm not going in till 2 so it's going to be a long morning of waiting!

I thought it was going to start last night as I was having some pains but nothing materialised. How many weeks are you now @thatbasicsnowflake?

@tiredalreadyohdear hopefully you'll feel better soon Flowers I'm glad you managed to get your travel system sorted and got a new one so quickly! Bet it is a weight off your mind Smile

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 07/06/2021 08:19

@Lullabymummy17 oh god 2pm that seems such a long wait! Hopefully it goes quick and you have a nice chilled morning!

Really pleased I sorted the travel system - I was just really disappointed with the shop we originally ordered from they just didn’t even care very annoying but sorted now :) xx

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 07/06/2021 08:32

@Lullabymummy17, i'm 36+1 today. The earliest i have ever delivered before is 38+2. I would be quite happy with that again tbh but definitley need those two weeks lol

OP posts:
THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 07/06/2021 08:34

@TiredAlreadyOhDear good news on the pram!

OP posts:
TiredAlreadyOhDear · 07/06/2021 08:52

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE 38 weeks sounds ideal! Have you noticed that the more babies you have the earlier they come? Or is that not a thing?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 07/06/2021 08:55

Not in my case. Dc5 was my only one i have gone overdue with! My 38 weeker is my smallest age gap so i think that might be a bit of a thing?
