🤞 for you @Lullabymummy17, how are you feeling now Monday is getting closer?

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I'm a little bit nervous but mostly feeling guilty about leaving DD. Trying to get the house sorted and uniforms ironed for next week. DD has also decided sleep is for losers since half term started so has been in bed with me. Hopefully once she's back in school she will start sleeping through again.

Tvscreen · 05/06/2021 09:26

Big whinge coming through here: being pregnant with a toddler is HARD. I took my 2yo DS out on my own yesterday and ended up running after him as he made a break for it and now I’m paying for it today with an extremely sore groin and generally feeling crap. DH is taking him to the park today but I for the next few weeks DS is having a lot of screen time and I feel so guilty 😬

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 05/06/2021 09:36

How old is dd @Lullabymummy17?

I really want to get on top of the uniforms so everyone always has a couple of days minimum sorted. 4 school aged dc is ALOT of uniform

@Tvscreen do what you need to do to get through the next few weeks. DD has had too much screen time this half term but I just haven't got it in me to take her out. No judging here! You're growing a human. Dont be so hard on yourself.

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE she's 4 now.so not exactly small either to be sharing a bed. Especially when shes a massive wriggler and tosses and turns all night. 4 uniforms 😒 I don't envy you that! I have two weeks worth and will do them all so at least she looks presentable whilst I'm in hospital. Just need to set my board up with the chair and Netflix on and I'll be on a roll 🤔🙄

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 05/06/2021 10:15

Its just a bit warm to contemplate actually ironing isn't it!

I don't know why but part of me thinks this baby might decide to sneak up and surprise us before i have managed to do everything i want to do!

35 weeks on Monday so I am finally getting around to packing my hospital bag this weekend! I've had a mental list for ages and have just written it all down. I pretty much have most of what I need but am now going to go out and get the bits and bobs I don't have.

For those that aren't FTMs is there anything you'd recommend that is commonly forgotten, or stuff you didn't think about that you wish you'd had? Already aware of the tips about lip balm, Lucozade, extra long phone chargers etc...any other more obscure items that are saviours for you?

Tvscreen · 05/06/2021 12:34

@Luckyelephant1 earplugs and a mini fan! The labour ward is hot and noisy

Mummy2O · 05/06/2021 13:02

@Luckyelephant1 Extra zip lock bags/carrier bags for wet stuff after you've had a wash/shower.

HumunaHey · 05/06/2021 13:09

@Lullabymummy17 Hope all goes well on Monday Smile

@Luckyelephant1 I had no idea how much I would bleed post birth and felt self conscious about leaking through pads, so this time I will be bringing incontinence pants. I got them once I left hospital and made me feel much comfortable with a heavy bleed. I wished I'd had them sooner.

Flittingaboutagain · 05/06/2021 13:10

Great tips thanks. Definitely need a fan I can't believe how hard it is regulating my temperature at home today let alone on a ward!

HumunaHey · 05/06/2021 13:11

Oh and snacks that I like, especially with Covid restrictions meaning less visitors.

sakura1982 · 05/06/2021 13:18

Hey , I’m due on 29th of July though will have an elective a week earlier. It’s a baby girl this time.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 05/06/2021 13:25

I'm considering a portable neck fan (search on amazon!)

OP posts:
Luckyelephant1 · 05/06/2021 13:34

Never thought about a fan so that's a good tip! Oh yeah I did consider incontinence pads so I'll definitely pick up a pack or two.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 05/06/2021 13:36

What kind of snacks are people packing i need inspiration?

OP posts:
PeanutButterFalcon · 05/06/2021 13:45

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE definitely need snack ideas. We’re going to take fruit purely because I love it and we have some nuts so far but apart from that no idea.

I am absolutely melting in this heat, I’m so swollen my I’m creaking trying to move and I’m not sure if my mucus plug is slowly coming out.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 05/06/2021 14:01

I have some cereal bars and lucozade so far but have been eating them Grin

OP posts:
Lullabymummy17 · 05/06/2021 14:17

Snack wise I have breakfast bars, shortbread and biscuits, nuts and mints. Flavoured water and lemonade.

I got this fan off amazon which doubles as a phone holder so I can talk/Watch whilst I have my hands full.

July 2021 (thread 4) maybe there will be more babies?
THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 05/06/2021 14:19

That looks good @Lullabymummy17

I just ordered one of the neck fans and a power bank

Good job I'm being induced on Monday... just sat on my sisters garden furniture and broke it! I think the weight limit has been reached! oink

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 05/06/2021 14:25

Snackwise I was mainly thinking sugary things to keep my energy up. Cake bars/flapjack and sweets but I've also been told to make sure you pack things for your birth partner too as often they aren't fed when you're in so I was thinking of grabbing some sort of pot noodle type snack for him. I've bought a fan from amazon already too!
So far I am loving the heat. I've always enjoyed the warmer months and think I'm lucky not to be struggling yet!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 05/06/2021 14:31

I am finding the sunshine helping me to get things done. I have finally sorted babies clothes for the hospital bag

OP posts:
littleindi · 05/06/2021 14:52

Enjoying all the snack chat! I couldn't eat during when I had DC1 so afterwards tanked up on Soreen and Babybel... doesn't sound as good as it tasted at the time Grin

Does anyone have any experience with polyhydramnios? I have just been diagnosed with it and a large baby at 32 week scan but the sonographer and midwife were far too rushed off their feet to explain what this means. They've taken bloods and I have to go back for a glucose test and a "detailed scan" but no clear explanation of what is happening Shock

Luckyelephant1 · 05/06/2021 16:25

Snack wise I'm thinking things like Go Ahead bars, dried mango (obsessed with this atm it's like eating sweets!), peanuts and cashews, Percy Pig type sweets or similar, Lucozade, crackers/healthyish crisps
