@Tvscreen we just used the mamas and papas own brand cot sheets (I think it was the cot ones) as they were more or less the same size and much cheaper.

Our DS is currently 24 months (his birthday was on the 8th) and we have gone for a double pram as I can't drive and have to walk quite far to get to shops and baby groups so know I can't tryst him to stay on a buggy board or similar for that long.

We just got the below pram from Facebook, although was willing to buy it from the website as it's cheap even at full price. I suppose it depends a lot on your older child and how well they walk/ will they be on the pram for long periods etc.

Everyone seems so organised! I’m 33 weeks now and have hospital items bought but that’s about it 🙈 finishing work this week and hoping to use the last lot of weeks to do all the things I haven’t had the energy to do so far. I go to sleep any chance I get is anyone else the same? Blush

Tvscreen · 31/05/2021 22:21

Thanks @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE and @Warrickdaviesasplates - that huack pram is cheap, I might look into getting it. DS1 will be just about 2.5 when baby is born and in childcare 3 days a week so I am now wondering whether I can get away with a sling for the first few months instead. And thanks for the cot sheet recommendations!

@HumunaHey good point! I didn’t even think of that 🤣

Warrickdaviesasplates · 01/06/2021 12:51

@Tvscreen I was very attracted to the cheapness of it! I thought that at least if I don't get on too well with it I haven't wasted loads of money. As DS will probably only be in it regularly for another year I can't justify spending loads on a double.

Apparently the buggy board does mean you have to walk quite far back from the pram, I suppose if you're tall it might be ok.

HumunaHey · 01/06/2021 13:43

Has anyone been using the Badger notes app (or any other app) to track their maternity notes?

My current care is using Badger notes but it seems to only be as useful as the information that is published/made visible for me to see (which is pretty much nothing!) Just wondering how other people are getting on with maternity notes via apps? I'm missing the wealth of information I could see with my first pregnancy where everything was written in my book, old school style.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 01/06/2021 14:00

My notes are all paper based @HumunaHey

Re double we went with icandy orange, can be single or double and has built in buggy board. I got it at a good price as theyve just brought a new model out but still more than the Hauck (i am curious about how good the Hauck is so please let us know!)

35+2 🥳

@HumunaHey are you in the UK? Mine are still written in a file... not that I can read half of it... doctors handwriting Grin

Warrickdaviesasplates · 01/06/2021 14:38

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I still haven't got it out of the car but I'll be having a good play with it this week and trying it out as a single with DS in. I will report back if it's any good. (Tbh as I got it for only £100 my standards will be pretty low. Haha)

I've only ever seen people with paper notes, DH mocks my anti-tech ways but I can't see how not allowing you full access to your own notes on that app can possibly be useful. I've used mine to check so many things, I'd be lost with an app.

Tvscreen · 01/06/2021 14:46

I only have badger notes and am in the UK. It’s not easy to use at all, you have to click through a lot of stuff to find some of the midwife notes I’m not even sure if the scan info is on there.

The app used for my first pregnancy was much better!

HumunaHey · 01/06/2021 15:18

@Lullabymummy17 Yes, I'm in the UK, England. I thought the app was becoming pretty common but I guess not. I would take almost illegible doctors notes over this near useless app any day!

@TVscreen My midwife doesn't seem to have made any notes available at all. All I can see is my initial weight and two fundal measurements. No scan info for me either 😑.

Tvscreen · 01/06/2021 15:21

@HumunaHey have you tried going into antenatal care summary then clicking on a date and scrolling down? That’s where my midwife notes are.

Lullabymummy17 · 01/06/2021 15:22

@HumunaHey @tvscreen could you speak to your midwife and ask her to direct you through the app. See if there's something you're missing.

I like having my paper notes... im glad I won't ever be needing to use an app as I will not be having any more babies 😂

HumunaHey · 01/06/2021 15:40

@TVscreen No, nothing there. Just says something along the lines of "the information has not been published".

@lullabymummy17 Yes, mentioned it to my midwife after a tip from another thread I was on. Someone who happens to be a midwife mentioned that midwives need to tick a little box to publish the info. When I asked about this with my current midwife she kind of glossed over it and said it was probably a glitch with the system and to keep checking (which I do obsessively lol).

My current MW is pretty rubbish tbh. I'm starting to think it's more of a problem with her not doing things on her end than the actual app itself, although I would still prefer paper notes if I was given a choice!
My usual midwife isn't available for next appointment and I'll be seeing someone else, hopefully the stand in midwife will be able to talk me through/sort the problem.

Pinkroseuk · 01/06/2021 16:56

I'm on the badger notes too but take a notebook with me to write anything down the midwife says as none of it is visible to me through the app. The growth chart is about the only think I can see and my booking in weight which they seem obsessed with as it was high Sad

PurpleCurtain · 01/06/2021 17:55

Is anyone else's baby transverse at this point? I'm 34+3. Mine has been transverse for a while now - midwife was saying that if he doesn't turn by my next appt then it's likely I'd be admitted at 37 weeks as it can quickly be a medical emergency once waters break with a transverse baby. I guess that's still plenty of time and I'm a bit indifferent about the idea of a section anyway but my gosh do I hate hospitals, 1wk+ in hospital pre birth fills me with absolute dread!

Lullabymummy17 · 01/06/2021 18:25

@purplecurtain I'm having twins. I have one head up and one head down. They are constantly flipping still and I am 34+4. Every time I go they've both flipped so they are the opposite way. I wouldnt worry, there's still time.
Why would they have you in hospital for a week before the birth? I was in for 3-4 days a few weeks back on the post natal ward... an experience I dont want to have to repeat!

PurpleCurtain · 01/06/2021 18:49

@Lullabymummy17 thanks - not sure if it's more or less likely that he will turn given he's been like this pretty much the whole way through! Midwife was saying transverse is higher risk than breech as if your water breaks the cord could come out first and then you have very little time to safely deliver? So most hospitals want you in close proximity in case that happens.

littleindi · 01/06/2021 21:17

@PurpleCurtain my first was transverse throughout and my very laid back midwife never even drew my attention to it until she checked at 36 weeks and said "oh good." This one is transverse too still but I'm only 31+4... I figure the first one carved out a comfy transverse space as my bump is basically elliptical, I feel like a spacehopper.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 01/06/2021 21:31

All i know is if your baby is transverse and your water breaks get your bum in the air and ring an ambulance! Baby here was transverse a few weeks ago but head is down and low now and has been for some time

Is anyone taking raspberry leaf tea?

OP posts:
TiredAlreadyOhDear · 01/06/2021 22:16

@HumunaHey I’ve got the app as well - but I also don’t get to see much - have had to call my midwife twice to ask her to tick the boxes so I can see my blood results. I’m worried that all the hospital bag lists say take your notes - and I don’t have anything to take!

PurpleCurtain · 01/06/2021 22:50

Jealous of those of you that DON'T have notes to be honest, as as above I hate how germy hospitals and doctors surgeries seem and always feel icky about handing my physical notes over 😅 There's not too much on them really but I've had a few blood tests and traces and things like that. I don't think I've ever looked at them myself outside of appointments though to be honest!

HumunaHey · 02/06/2021 10:06

@pinkroseuk Yes, my booking in weight was a little more than I'd have liked it to be. I keep telling myself that it doesn't matter. When the baby is born, the weather will be glorious and we'll go for lots of lovely walks so the lbs will just drop off. We'll see if that actually happens, even if the weather is permitting!

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I don't think you need to worry too much regarding taking your notes as I think that's why the app has been introduced - so our information can be centrally held and easily accessed by multiple staff. It just seems they don't seem to care to share the info with us unimportant folk aka the mothers Confused.

@purplecurtain my baby has been in all sorts of positions. Definitely transverse a few times as it's been so uncomfortable. I've been doing exercises on Youtube to help baby get into an ideal position, although I'm only 32 weeks.

HumunaHey · 02/06/2021 10:20

@thatbasicsnowflake I haven't started with the tea yet but will in a couple of weeks, along with some dates too. Not sure if it actually makes a difference but it's what I did last time and I had a pretty straightforward birth.

Luckyelephant1 · 02/06/2021 15:04

What's the ideal time to start drinking raspberry leaf tea?

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 02/06/2021 17:08

Rant incoming: So my travel system should have been due end of May....I called the shop today as I’ve not had a phone call to say it’s ready for collection - only to be told there is a ‘slight’ delay with it and it will be here approximately early July! Bear in mind this has been ordered since April and no one phoned me
To tell me it was delayed I’ve had to chase them! The baby is due July 14th....I’m really pissed off - am I over reacting?! Or will ‘approximately early July’ be ok? Xx
