May babies - anyone else due soon?

Hi ladies, I’m due on the 20th but think I will be early. How is everyone doing?

Had my sweep today as I've refused early induction. Cervix apparently 'favourable' and soft. Unfortunately still closed internally so she couldn't really do it successfully. Confirms what I thought. I'm in it for the long haul!

I have a sweep booked for Monday, I’ve not had one before - any advice on what to expect?

It's crazy there were 3 of us due on 17th and only me left pregnant still hopefully it's a lucky due date and won't be long left for me to wait. Today is definitely a struggle!

@HollyWell I really think it depends who is doing it! With my first I found it quite painful. Today just a little uncomfortable. Definitely focus on your breathing. I think the more relaxed you are, the easier it is!

I'm not going to have any sweeps! I'd rather stay in the dark and the not knowing!!!
Good luck to everyone else with theirs! This is my 2nd baby and I've never had a vaginal exam or sweep

@fattymumbum I wasn't going to but I've got medical conditions which means baby needs to come out sooner rather than later. I'd never have them if my pregnancies were low risk.

@moorelewis yeah I picked that up from your earlier message. I hope it works for you xxxx Think I would just prefer an induction! Don't know what it is, I don't have a problem with smears but I feel so sensitive down there, I couldn't imagine anything worse x

@fattymumbum thank you, me too! I'll probably end up going down that route eventually. I ended up with an emergency c-section after my last induction so I'm really keen to try and labour on my own this time round! It's not the most pleasant, but luckily I've got a fantastic midwife! I wouldn't let the consultants anywhere near me

Thank you so much! I probably wouldn’t have had one just yet but the midwife is pushing me to have an induction because the baby is measuring a bit big so we’ve compromised with a sweep on my due date and we’ll see how it goes from there! I will go for a long walk afterwards and eat all the curry and pineapple afterwards to try and get things going good luck to everyone who is currently feeling twinges/in the early stages!!

They kept telling me it was/could be braxton hicks but I had a feeling it was contractions and I was right. She did a vaginal examination and said I’m 3cm dilated. Sent me home now. Hopefully not too long to go 🙏🏼

@moorelewis that's a shame about last time, I was induced too the first time, but only needed one pessary. Think your midwife will be a good Advocate and glad you have a good relationship xx

I’ve had my baby today too, a little boy. I was meant to have a nice planned c section on Monday but ended up with a VB and some help with a suction cup. Think I tore along my old tear ( hopefully) can’t get my notes so some stitches to deal with. It was really awful tbh but I don’t want to post more and scare the first timers! I’m just crap at giving birth. All is well now and I have beautiful baby no 4.

Hey I’m new here! I’m due on May24th ( my second ) ! However I have ICP! So they want to induce me maybe 38 weeks but if it gets worse then 39 weeks! However I have had my first sweep today and I was 1cm dilated already and waters are bulging etc etc, I’ve just lost my micas plug for sure and it looks brown/red! Anyone else in a similar boat ?

I can understand if people don’t want to share baby names for anonymity, but if you’d like to then that would be nice. I’m pretty sure I will.

My toddler keeps kissing my belly, it’s like she knows haha, it’s so cute. She’s been an angel. Left her at my cousin’s while I was at the hospital and she was such a good girl.

@stairway congratulations on your arrival! Sorry you didn't have the birth you'd planned, hope you heal (both physically mentally) soon x

That's great progress @AyyX hopefully not too long for you now. It's cheered me up that my symptoms are so similar to yours, he feels so so low and I'm waddling around with some new cramps today. It hurts to stand up. Don't want to get my hopes up

Hey! I’m so late to this thread but I’m also due May 20th! Had my 38 week appointment today and baby is very much happy and content to chill inside a little longer. I’ll be having a sweep in two weeks time if nothing happens between now and due date. I’m having a boy !
