Hi ladies, I’m due on the 20th but think I will be early. How is everyone doing?

Still waiting here! 38+2 and crossing my fingers she gets a wiggle on. Don't know how much more internal pummelling I can take! I've been very lucky up to now though in terms of health/symptoms, so shouldn't complain too much... Hoping I can convince the Dr to sign me off on Thursday (there's no provision in Spain for getting leave just for being very pregnant, you actually have to be ill, otherwise you just have to wait for your waters to break Angry ).

Hope everyone else is keeping as chirpy and comfortable as possible!

CarryOnParenting · 11/05/2021 14:51

@LaMadrilena what! I feel for you, I don’t know how I could carry on working up until the end. Well done you! Hope you manage to get the time off, it’s definitely needed at 38+ weeks! Xx

LaMadrilena · 11/05/2021 14:58

@CarryOnParenting I know! You're supposed to lie and say you've got PGP or sciatica or something, but I'll feel really guilty! A lot depends on the Dr - some are sticklers for the rules, and some are a bit more flexible. Mine's mad as a box of frogs, so who knows...

Newmumtobeee · 11/05/2021 16:43

Congratulations everyone on your babies!! Also best of luck to those being induced. I love hearing all of your positive birthing stories, makes me more excited (and jealous haha). I’m 38wks 5 days now and mega uncomfortable. Baby doesn’t seem remotely interested in coming anytime soon!

fattymumbum · 11/05/2021 16:54

I didn't notice any signs of impending labour until it started, even the pressure downwards I had for a week before. The show, the mucus plug, waters, all came after contractions started!!!

So don't worry if there's no signs first xxx

PFin · 11/05/2021 22:46

@fattymumbum that exactly hoe my first labour went. Went to bed early feeling a.little sickly and woke in the early hours in full labour! So defo anyone sitting thinking they are having no signs of labour, it can all happen so quickly.

lucymagoo · 11/05/2021 23:00

@PFin @fattymumbum That's really promising! I feel like I've had symptoms coming and going for the past few weeks getting my hopes up then down again.

Definitely had lots of braxton hicks today so feeling hopeful again Grin

cem90 · 11/05/2021 23:31

Fingers crossed for you @lucymagoo - with my first I'm another one that had no signs beforehand, waters broke at 13:30 started having contractions half an hour later and had my little girl at 18:41
I woke up that day and thought that it was the day but had no signs or symptoms to suggest I was right. I had been hoping it will be just as quick this time round but at a week over I just want her here now!
Good luck!

LaMadrilena · 12/05/2021 08:59

I've woken up this morning feeling like I used to a few days before my period - bit achy, bit bloaty, bit sicky, knackered from being randomly awake since 3am. This is it, right? Tell me this is it...

I've been feeling like this for 2 weeks unfortunately. He sometimes moves and I get a couple of days off, but then it's constant cramps and dodgy stomachs. Sleep has gone to hell. Remembering this happened for about 5 weeks on and off with my first, as he was nearly 2 weeks later. My second didn't show any signs he was ready, then my waters randomly went!
LaMadrilena · 12/05/2021 09:52

@BrumBoo Well thanks for that, just what I didn't want to hear! Grin I've had the dodgy stomach too for a week or so now. At least I don't think they'll let me go much over my due date (23rd) due to her small size and my slight carb intolerance. Bring on the raspberry leaf tea...

Oh the raspberry leaf tea! I hated that stuff Grin. I'm sorry, I know exactly how rotten it feels, I hope things do get moving soon.

My eldest wouldn't shift even after losing the plug, though upped the cramps and random contractions. I was booked in for an induction, so tried most of the old wives tales to get things going. I think the one that did it was scrubbing the kitchen floor on hands and knees - he arrived within 24 hours Wink.

Moorelewis · 12/05/2021 10:01

Well it's my due date. Nothing is happening and unfortunately I've now had to agree to be induced on the 18th due to my blood pressure no longer being controlled by my tablets and borderline protein in my urine. I refused to be induced today as thankfully I haven't been officially diagnosed with pre eclampsia yet. My first I was induced at 40 weeks due to pre eclampsia and was really hoping for a normal birth this time. Feeling Sad

LaMadrilena · 12/05/2021 10:01

@BrumBoo My husband the clean freak will be delighted! (Until my waters break on the parquet floor - he's already making me sit on a towel in the car.)

LaMadrilena · 12/05/2021 10:03

@Moorelewis That's disappointing, sorry it's not going how you hoped. I'm worried about been induced too. Hope you see some movement in the next few days...

Moorelewis · 12/05/2021 10:09

@LaMadrilena it's okay, I had a feeling this would happen. It's just frustrating as my NHS scan changed my due date. Going by my dates and private scans I'm due on the 16th. So I'm almost certain nothing is going to happen. Ah well as long as baby is okay. Hopefully you manage to avoid induction x

LittleTiger007 · 12/05/2021 15:15

Hi Ladies, I hope we hear of more movement on the baby front soon! I have had a lot more discomfort in my bump these past couple of days and random sharp pains in my boobs. I woke at 5 am with hideous pain in my pelvis and had to go and sit on the ball for a while. My poor husband... I thought it was much later as it was light and I was suddenly wide awake, the dog was ready for his walk etc. So I wasn’t quiet about it... went back to bed... 5.05 oops. Sorry honey!

lucymagoo · 12/05/2021 15:38

@LittleTiger007 I had painful boobs all yesterday and was furiously googling if it was a sign of impending labour Grin
Having strong braxton hicks today, I assume braxton hicks, don't want to get my hopes up that they're the real thing as I have no other signs Hmm

LittleTiger007 · 12/05/2021 16:07

I’m def getting to the point where I can’t do much else except wait for this baby. Tired and uncomfortable.
Let’s hope these are all good signs @lucymagoo!

I swear I had more Braxton Hicks 3 months ago than I do now. Maybe I'm just getting more used to them, or getting them confused with when she decides to do her stretches.

I've also a bit of a sore bump - like when you have terrible trapped wind and it feels like it's stretching you out of shape!. I hardly had any bump till 2 weeks ago, and I've suddenly ballooned when I stopped doing sport and going to the office.

I tried the ball yesterday and ended up with sore hips/back for the first time!

The braxton hicks do seem to be a solid 30 mins apart and have been all day. Starting to think/hope they might be the real thing, anyone more experienced than me recognise this? 🤷🏻‍♀️😕

notlongnow0521 · 12/05/2021 19:58

Hey congratulations to all who've had babies in the last few days Flowers

I went for a scan today, only to be told my baby is now measuring on the 8th percentile for stomach growth and they want to induce me. Had a sweep and booked in for Friday.
It's taken us completely by surprise as no concerns over growth have been given previously had been fine. I hope the sweep works and fears are for nothing. Only have four days til my due date! xx

thefishthatcouldwish · 12/05/2021 19:59

No experience @lucymagoo but does sound more promising. Have you tummy cramps too? Only going off what my midwife said to me.

I am finding navigating this part of pregnancy quite hard .

Everyone who knows about the ivf and knows about it is shocked that I am midwife led and low risk keeps telling me I’m not safe to go past due date etc making me anxious!
