Hi ladies, I’m due on the 20th but think I will be early. How is everyone doing?

AyyX · 09/05/2021 14:59

@LittleTiger007 @OldFirstTimeMum thanks for the recommendation! I’m doing ok just a bit tired x

I think it depends on your hospital, when I gave birth it was only one person allowed for visits and it’s the main birthing partner only and no swaps (although my dp did swap with my mum and nurse was not happy but let my mum stay anyway)
I think at my hospital the main birthing partner is allowed to stay all during the visiting hours.
Ask your midwife when you get to the hospital for clarification x

cem90 · 09/05/2021 22:17

I think it varies in each hospital - I know mine allows your partner in with you once you're in active labour to the end and then after that they are allowed in during visiting hours which is 8am-8pm
I was hoping covid restrictions would be lifted more by now - I had a retained placenta with my first and had to have surgery and a spinal block straight after labour so DH had to stay with DD whilst I was in theatre and was the one to do all the changes etc during the night as I was bed bound. If it happens again I'm going to have to be on the buzzer for the poor midwifes for every nappy change etc!

thefishthatcouldwish · 10/05/2021 07:36

Varies on hospital. Due to where I live ( fairly rurally) we have access to several general hospitals all of which are in different counties. All of which also have different rules for visits.

The birth centre local to me and where I hope to give birth allows birth partners all the way along.

They also like you to stay at home as long as possible and send community midwife to your house in the early stages so if something happens they will come with you to the general hospital to transfer your care.

CarryOnParenting · 10/05/2021 07:38

I thought is was go time last night ladies (currently 38+3), had some serious cramps and belly getting tight, although seemed irregular and seems to have gone completely now 🙄. Assuming it was braxston hicks. Having to sweep Thursday so maybe that’ll get things moving, I am so uncomfortable.

OldFirstTimeMum · 10/05/2021 09:11

@CarryOnParenting I too had some pretty serious Braxton Hicks last night. So uncomfortable today. Pressure below. No pain but certainly uncomfortable. I'm due on Saturday. Maybe thigs are kicking off for us both.

99redspottedducks · 10/05/2021 09:43

Had a bad night was in delivery suite at 2am after putting off reduced movements for hours (I stupidly thought I would be bothering them the later it got, they were lovely)
Baby is fine and more herself this morning
Getting some Braxton hicks
37 weeks tomorrow
Still waiting for my official c section date
I just want her here now
Anxiety is through the roof
He's hoping today is a better day! Smile

AyyX · 10/05/2021 09:56

Thinking of all the ladies patiently waiting for their little one’s arrivals Flowers they will be here soon 😍

I have just realised why I have been feeling so run down and exhausted after birth even though I’ve been sleeping fairly early (with the exception of waking up at least once/twice a night). I just remembered the midwife say that I lost 500ml of blood while giving blood. That explains why I’ve been so knackered and have no energy 😣
I need to start taking my after pregnancy vitamins.
Hope you are all doing well Flowers

AyyX · 10/05/2021 09:57

While giving birth* 😂 can’t even think or type properly

OldFirstTimeMum · 10/05/2021 10:49

bless you @AyyX rest up and yes take your vitamins!
Sorry to hear that you had such a bad night @99redspottedducks.
I feel remarkably at peace about it all. Praying for the same for us all... throughout.

PlanBea · 10/05/2021 13:19

Hi, thank you to everyone for your congratulations. We got sent home yesterday at about 6pm, had some dinner and went to bed for two hours, and when I woke up baby had red in his nappy (which were urate crystals) and his lips and mouth were so dry so I called the ward and we came back in. Turns out my milk hadn't been stimulated because of the tongue tie and the c section so he has spent hours feeding and getting nothing, and is now dehydrated.

We're currently on a strict 3 hour feeding schedule to get him fed and get my milk in, supplementing with formula, until we can get his tongue tie sorted. The hospital have been fab, but with being 3 days post partum I've been an emotional wreck and absolutely full of guilt for not noticing it for days. I'm SO lucky my DH is here throughout or I wouldn't have coped at all. Some covid restrictions are absolutely scandalous, and completely ignore how traumatic something so relatively small is when you're post partum and vulnerable, I can't imagine if the news had been worse!

Good luck to the rest of you waiting mummies, I haven't had a chance to read through the thread to see if we have any more celebrations yet!

LittleTiger007 · 10/05/2021 14:21

That sounds very stressful @PlanBea. I hope they get things sorted and your little one is rehydrated quickly.
I agree some covid restrictions are scandalous. When I had a miscarriage last June my husband was not allowed to be with me for the scan when I found out or to be with me to hold my hand after the d&c. He waited hours in the car park to hear everything second hand and felt helpless to comfort me... never mind him needing his own comfort. I am really praying that he will be with me throughout labour/birth and any subsequent moments of stress.
Hoping things turn around for you quickly Flowers

I am so sorry to hear of what you've been going through @PlanBea. I hope you and your little man can turn a corner now.
@LittleTiger007 I too have had miscarriages and I cant imagine how that must have been during the lockdowns. Sad Praying that everything is going to go smoothly for us all this month and that our husbands/partners are allowed to be with us throughout labour and afterwards.

workingmummyof2soontobe3 · 10/05/2021 18:24

An update from me, I’m being induced on Monday at 38+1 due the fluid increasing even more around baby and baby is showing on the big side. I’m only 5ft and very petite with what looks like a twin bump so I am beyond uncomfortable and struggling to walk so I’m so glad there’s an end in sight next week x

Theidealcat · 10/05/2021 20:11

I’m being induced Thursday ladies, please send me some positivity! X

HollyWell · 10/05/2021 20:23

Ooh good luck ladies who have inductions booked! I had a sweep this afternoon and the midwife said I was already 2cm and I think I might be having some mild contractions now so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they ramp up overnight!!

Theidealcat · 10/05/2021 20:38

Oh my gosh how exciting!! I’ve got a awww tomorrow to but also having some period cramps and sharp cramps so hoping this is something x

LittleTiger007 · 10/05/2021 21:43

It IS exciting! Good luck those with cramps and inductions! I am being kicked mercilessly this evening... it’s taken my breath away a few times. So uncomfortable!

OP posts:
thefishthatcouldwish · 11/05/2021 08:51

How is everyone ? Any any news overnight?

Finding this part of pregnancy a little bit harder. Feel so big and get tired when walking as baby is quite low I would say.

Am also having nightmares due to anxiety. Night after night of waking up terrified.

Also been thinking when baby arrives about visitors - I am not opposed to visitors as all Close family/friends have had both vaccines. With that in mind though I do struggle with my SIL. I have for the past 4 plus years had limited contact with her as all she is lovely to your face but behind your back is very nasty. She is extremely jealous.

Now when baby comes along I know DH will want to take him to SIL to visit. Only thing is I know I would need to go too if I manage breastfeeding. ( which is my hope).

Not sure how I will cope with her and new baby etc.

Sorry for the ramble.

LittleTiger007 · 11/05/2021 09:13

Morning @thefishthatcouldwish I too am feeling very uncomfortable, it’s ramped up in the last 24 hours... pain and discomfort. Belly just feels so full like there’s no more room and baby is pushing hard to try to make space. I hope he/she comes soon.
Sorry for the anxiety you’re having. I’ve had some weird dreams that’s for sure and I don’t know how seeing people will go. I have waited to have the vaccine after having the baby and my family don’t want to be close to me til I’ve had it, which I get... but I hope they will see the baby. There are lots of unknowns... I guess we have to take it a day at a time and trust that all will be ok. Extra worry won’t help I don’t think. I hope you have a better day Flowers

No news for me. I'm now 10 days overdue. I'm going to the midwife again today, 1.30pm for a second sweep. Although my sweep was a successful one Friday, it didn't result in labour over the weekend. Hoping this one today will, as if not I'll then be booked for an induction for a few days time and I'm dreading going down that route.

fattymumbum · 11/05/2021 10:38

Had my little Baby boy on Sunday 7lb 11oz at home. No name yet!! He's doing well, a bit jaundice today I think.

Hope @ayx baby is doing well and will be home soon XXX
@planbea please don't blame yourself, sometimes things happen and they aren't your fault, you weren't to know. I actually don't think I'm feeding my baby enough, he's been feeding about every 4-5hours and had no dirty nappies in the last day x midwife is coming today so I will say it to her x

CarryOnParenting · 11/05/2021 10:53

Congratulations @PlanBea (good you are getting support, hope things settle soon) and @fattymumbum.

@thefishthatcouldwish yep feeling so understanding, still get the odd sharp pain when baby moves about. Think he’s just very low and running out of room as well. Nothing regular though.

Xx

CarryOnParenting · 11/05/2021 11:09

*uncomfortable, autocorrect 🙄

HollyWell · 11/05/2021 12:39

Congratulations everyone who has had their beautiful babies! I love seeing the announcements on here!
Unfortunately any contractions I was feeling last night slowed down and stopped so I’m hoping they will pick up again later once I have been for a walk. I have had a show this morning though (sorry if tmi!) so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t have to go to my appointment for a second sweep on Friday!
Good luck everyone - hoping for some more announcements over the next few days!
