Pregnant after loss thread- November 2021

Hi all, I’m currently 4 weeks pregnant after 4 previous miscarriages. I don’t really have any symptoms other than boobs a bit sore and nipples sensitive. I’m on clexane injections, cyclogest and aspirin as all the tests they’ve run have found nothing wrong. Is anyone else due in November after loss? I thought it would be a nice idea to have a thread where we can all chat and share our journeys x

Hi. I’ve just come across this post and found it very helpful to read so thank you ladies!

I’ve had 2 missed miscarriages since August last year and am now 8 weeks pregnant. Due 25th November. My previous losses were at 8+ and 6+ weeks so I’m still very anxious.

I’ve been having cramping and spotting so have a scan booked tomorrow at EPU. I’m so hoping all is well...

Lots of positive vibes to everyone Smile

Tweaker · 16/04/2021 08:14

@KG1145 I'm 8 weeks this Sunday Smile
Welcome @WantingAnother you've come to the right place! Good luck with your scan, it's nerve wracking I know, and hard to think about anything else isn't it?! Let us know how it goes.

Tweaker · 16/04/2021 08:19

Hey my geriatric friends, there is a lovely thread just started called Pregnant with no 3 at 42. Very reassuring!

WantingAnother · 16/04/2021 09:37

Thank you so much @Tweaker! Yes nerve wracking indeed. I didn’t sleep last night for worry, even though I know if it’s not meant to be it won’t and there’s nothing I can do about it

Will update afterwards, hopefully with good news

KG1145 · 16/04/2021 12:40

So my feeling of being reassured after the scan yesterday was short lived. The midwife phoned today to book in a call. I mentioned that the scan yesterday had picked up an additional empty sac measuring about 4 weeks. I told the midwife that the sonographer had said there were no additional risks to baby but the midwife said that there are, especially if I start cramping/bleeding to miscarry the other sac.

If course then I googled it, I didn't find much but one site seems to say that if you start bleeding after a vanishing twin pregnancy there is a 40-50% chance of miscarrying the healthy pregnancy. In addition there is a higher chance of there being congenital problems with baby.... So now I'm stressing again 😭

Has anyone else experienced this?

Tweaker · 16/04/2021 13:22

@KG1145 how distressing for you. But, I thought that vanishing twin pregnancies were v common and you haven't started bleeding have you? Is not that like a midwife saying to anyone, if you bleed there's a risk to the baby? To me it seems like the most important thing is that you saw a heartbeat and that all was fine. I'm sorry if I've misunderstood or am wrong but I would think your reassurance was well founded.

KG1145 · 16/04/2021 14:32

Thanks @tweaker I've had a chat to my partner too and I think you're right.

It was just unfortunate that it was such a quick call with the midwife as she just said there is an increased risk and I should rest/not lift anything heavy so as to minimise a risk of bleeding. Because it was a quick call though she didn't really go into much about the risks other than to say that they were increased.

She's calling me back over the weekend though for my booking in appointment so will talk to her then more. In the meantime I'll just rest ans reassure myself with how health the scan was just yesterday. Also telling myself that potentially if we hadn't have had a scan until 12 weeks we might never have known if the sac gets reabsorbed

PurpleRaven777 · 16/04/2021 16:24

@KG1145 My friend had a vanishing twin and she has a lovely, lively 2 year old from that pregnancy now! Think it's a bit unfair of her to call only quickly and not give you all the details. Glad you'll talk to her over the weekend and sounds line a good excuse for a bit of tlc from your partner in the meantime! 😉 (P. S. I had a good hysterical cry for a few mins at my scan too!)

@WantingAnother welcome 😊 I hope your scan is OK xx

My symptoms have dropped again today, which I'm fully aware could be totally normal at this point (10w3d) but so used to it being bad news. Glad scan is only a few days away now. Going to try to keep busy this weekend!

Tweaker · 20/04/2021 09:18

Morning all, how is everyone doing this week? I've been nauseous but fine until just now when I don't feel as pregnant anymore....I'm 8+2 and suddenly feel less bloated. I hope it's not a bad sign although I know it can be.
I went swimming yesterday which was brilliant - outdoors in the sun! I don't feel confident running atm (usually love running) but I need some exercise. I felt great afterwards, very relaxed.
I've my booking appointment this Friday but nothing else to report. Hope you are all doing well.

mia2201 · 20/04/2021 15:08

Hi lovely ladies! I'm just sat at doctors waiting for my midwife appointment. Had my 10wk scan earlier on today and the baby seemed so happy in there. I was very stressed last couple of days but turns out it's just another bout of post-loss anxiety.... Baby was moving so much! My dating scan is on 7th of May. I've promised myself to keep calm from now on. I have no symptoms so it's hard to be reassured but in my case no symptoms don't equal issues! Love to all xxx

Tweaker · 20/04/2021 15:15

Brilliant news @mia2201 ! I'm happy for you Smilewhat a relief. I don't know how much longer i can hold out scan wise! Three weeks to go...

PurpleRaven777 · 20/04/2021 17:49

@Tweaker - could be the exercise got your metabolism going and that reduced the bloat!

@mia2201 Great news on the scan! I had my private scan today and my dating scan is the day before yours as well!

My scan went well and I was measuring somewhere between 11w3d and 11w6d - baby was wriggling lots but kept settling on the side that makes it hard to measure - definitely a troublemaker in the making! Anyway, gotta dash - my toddler is going nuclear 🙈

LozHAP35 · 21/04/2021 15:33

Hi everyone, firstly I'm so so sorry geyser33 feel free to messge me any time if your reading this. Big hugs too you. Xx

Also I had my 12 week scan on Monday just gone, I was terrified sat in the same area as I sat b4 waiting for them to do an amniocentesis last time. Luckily I didint go in the same room. The sonographer was lovly and she said from what she can see everything looks fine. I saw the mw after and she did some routine bloods for quad test. And saw the doctor after that. She's booked me in for the end of may with the consultant for a scan to look more detailed at the heart and brain. I was so relieved to see bubba kicking and moving about, was a wriggler. So yea all is good so far. Roll on 23rd of May. At my dating scan the also put me a few days ahead so I'm 13weeks today. Hope everyone else is OK. Xx

Tweaker · 21/04/2021 16:06

@LozHAP35 that is just brilliant - congratulations! What a relief for you and I'm pleased you were in a different room. That must have been a real mixed bag of emotions. Traumatic memories but positive too. It's so great to make it to 12 weeks. I know you were further on when you lost your little girl but it's still an amazing milestone to get to. Do you feel a lot more reassured by it?

GSMCK · 21/04/2021 17:46

Hi ladies, good luck to everyone and so sorry about your previous losses. I had a MC at 11 weeks last year. Started bleeding lightly and cramping at 10 weeks and then MC naturally a week later. Gosh I wasn’t prepared for what a
MC was going to be like! I hadn’t had a scan before hand so don’t know how far along the pregnancy had gone.

I am 11 + 4 today and have had cramping for last few days but no bleeding at all, quite strong but not agony that I need to take a pain killer. Is it worth phoning EPU or will they not see me unless there is any bleeding? Thanks xxx

Tweaker · 22/04/2021 07:18

Hi @GSMCK, welcome. Sorry about your previous loss. I know what you mean, you can't really prepare for how traumatic an mc can be can you? I am ashamed to say I might not have appreciated what women go through until it happened to me 😔
If I were you I'd contact the midwife and ask her what she thinks. I suspect she'd say that cramping is normal- because it is! - and not to worry especially as there's no bleeding. I think you're right the EPU wouldn't see you for reassurance. It's so hard not to worry though. Could you get a private scan?

Tweaker · 22/04/2021 07:23

@PurpleRaven777 sorry I missed your update - fantastic!!! How are you feeling? Also good call on the theory that swimming has sped up my metabolism,I like that! Still v hungry and feeling whale like but swimming is massively helping. I've been every day this week, it's a heated outdoor one and the weather is great. It's just wonderful, like being on holiday!

PurpleRaven777 · 22/04/2021 12:26

@LozHAP35 that's great news! I can only imagine how stressful being back was - well done for getting through it and 13wks is amazing!

@GSMCK I'm about the same along as you and I've had a fair bit of cramping this week. Try not to fret if you're not bleeding - easier said than done, I know!

@Tweaker cheers 😁 I am mainly feeling hungry and shakey/tired like I did too much dieting 😂 I lost a couple of pounds with the nausea and have def put that back on 🙈 Swimming sounds ace! I did aquanatal classes when pregnant with my son and they were nice.

I caved today and hired a doppler 🙈 I'm feeling less anxious for now and have dating scan in a couple of weeks but decided I fancied a go with one. Plan to only keep it a month or two and then hopefully I'll be feeling baby. I started feeling my son at 16 weeks but I'm podgier now 😂

GSMCK · 22/04/2021 12:39

Thanks @Tweaker and @PurpleRaven777 for the advice. I feel better today, I think I read somewhere (maybe on this thread) that cramping can be caused by dehydration so I upped the water and feel a bit better. Well I still feel horrendous from sickness and could sleep for a month but that’s another story 😂

If the Doppler makes you feel less anxious then do whatever you have to to get through this time! I find sticking my head in the sand and pretending nothing is happening helps me! Absolute terrible way to be but it is the way I have always coped.

Swimming outdoors sounds amazing! Total stress relief as well.

Needingsupportplease · 22/04/2021 14:35

Hi can I join please? 8+4 due 29th November. Had 2 previous losses at 7 and 14 weeks and have a 2 year old. @KG1145 I'm in the same position! Had a private scan on Monday which showed baby measuring bang on with healthy heartbeat, she also said there was another sac (which I saw) but she said it measured 6 weeks and looked empty. She said it should reabsorb and I shouldn't have any problems. Midwife is ringing me tomorrow for my booking apt so I'll speak to her about it then, I'm slightly worried now after seeing what you've been told! Hope you're ok.

I think my midwife worried me just because it was a quick call so she only mentioned increased risk, resting, not lifting anything heavy in passing and it got me worried. When I spoke to her again in my booking appointment she said its not that unusual a situation and there are increased risks but they're minimal x
Needingsupportplease · 22/04/2021 15:11

Ah ok thankyou for that, I'm a worrier anyway so that helps haha

Totally the same here!
Fayezp1210 · 23/04/2021 11:19

Has anyone had their dating scan letter yet? I’ve had mine and I’ll be over 14 weeks! Surely the combined testing can’t be done after this time?

PurpleRaven777 · 23/04/2021 20:08

@GSMCK thanks for the reminder on staying hydrated - I do think it helps. I'm trying not to drink too much in the evenings so I don't have to get up in the bought but have to say I'm so thirsty when I get up - usually end up drinking at least a pint of water!

I had my booking appointment today and agreed with midwife that I should try to move my dating scan since it was booked on the late side and I'm measuring ahead. Now booked for next Wednesday! My doppler arrived today and I had fun with it but it's definitely harder than I thought it would be, considering I'm now 12wks (according to scan). Did find the heartbeat and enjoyed listening to it though 😊
