Pregnant after loss thread- November 2021

Sallyjo27 · 07/03/2021 07:53

Hi all, I’m currently 4 weeks pregnant after 4 previous miscarriages. I don’t really have any symptoms other than boobs a bit sore and nipples sensitive. I’m on clexane injections, cyclogest and aspirin as all the tests they’ve run have found nothing wrong. Is anyone else due in November after loss? I thought it would be a nice idea to have a thread where we can all chat and share our journeys x

@Fayezp1210 Mine was booked for 13w5d based on my conception date. Private scan showed I'm measuring ahead so midwife told me to call and tell them. They should try to fit you in before 13w6d for the combined screening.

Fayezp1210 · 23/04/2021 20:54

@PurpleRaven777 I gave that a go today, I told my ultrasound department that I’ve had a private scan and measuring a few days ahead so Ill be over the time for the testing and all she said was “oh private scans aren’t as accurate as ours” I called the midwife after that and told her and she said she will see what she can do! Totally get that things are behind with Covid and stuff but surely that’s an excessive amount of time to wait!

PurpleRaven777 · 23/04/2021 21:45

@Fayezp1210 sorry to hear that - I'd be fuming. They do seem really booked up - they only had one appointment they could offer me and I'm going to have to hang around until the blood people get there. I don't mind, I just want it done so I can tick it off on the steps we need to get through. Sounds awful when I say it like that but it feels like I can't look further ahead than the next medical appointment just now. Hope your midwife manages to kick some butt for you!

Tweaker · 24/04/2021 07:47

@Fayezp1210 that seems really odd to me that they would leave it that late although I'm no expert- perhaps it is standard? When's the latest you can have the combined screening? This won't help your natural worry will it so I hope you have a supportive midwife that can sort it. Unfortunately, the more I read the more it seems to be luck of the draw with many disparities between different areas.
@PurpleRaven777 that is really lovely about hearing your baby's heartbeat 😁I think if it helps you get through then do it! My thinking is exactly the same - kind of head down, doggedly looking to the next appointment! It's all we can do.
I had my booking appointment yesterday with a lovely midwife. I liked that she was complete unphased by my age and told me she sees many women my age and older. She was very reassuring. I am going to be consultant led because I haemorrhaged when I had my daughter years ago so that's good I guess.
Also, I booked myself a harmony appointment (the NIPT Test) for two weeks today. She said its a lot more accurate and because it includes a scan I thought 'sod it'. It feels like the right thing to do.
I'm a little concerned atm as I'm just not suffering enough! I 'feel' pregnant IYSWIM but I've v v mild nausea, tiredness, bloating. I'm nine weeks now and symptoms are supposed to be at their most intense around now but that's not the case with me.
Sending positive vibes to you all!

Fayezp1210 · 24/04/2021 08:07

@PurpleRaven777 I wasn’t amused! Hopefully the Midwife can sort something! I totally get they are booked up, I ended up on the Gynae ward a few weeks ago with sharp pain and they made me stay the night just to wait for a scan slot the next day so I can appreciate the craziness of it all! I agree with you, I’m the same, just waiting for each little milestone.

@Tweaker Me too! When I had my call with the midwife who took all my history etc she said your scan will be between 12 and 14 weeks, it has to be before 14 if you are having the combined screening. Yet the lady at the scan department said “oh you should be ok” just like a really dismissive attitude! I’ve just read about your symptoms, and I feel the same. I will be 9 weeks tomorrow and apart from feeling a bit sick throughout the day, I don’t really have many!

PurpleRaven777 · 24/04/2021 09:52

@Fayezp1210 I'm assuming there must be some leeway on the screening as lots of people measure differently to their predicted dates. I had that with my first as I have short cycles (23 days) so dating using my lmp doesn't work. I now just tell them I either don't know and give them date of conception or claim lmp was date of conception minus 14 🙈

@Tweaker I was considering having NIPT but decided I'd have the NHS screening and see how the numbers come out. Husband not very on board with paying out £400. Did your midwife recommend it to you? I was reading that some NHS trusts offer it if you show as high risk but there wasn't much detail.

Tweaker · 24/04/2021 10:54

@PurpleRaven777 no she didn't recommend it. She offered the combined screening and I asked about NIPT. my thinking was that I was going to pay for an early scan anyway so might as well go the whole hog! She said if you want more reassurance go for it. I'll be pretty much bang on 11 weeks when I have it and she said that's the best time for these tests.

ElmtreeMama · 24/04/2021 14:46

Hello all
Lovely to hear all your updates
I'm feeling less pregnant at 9+4 than I was at 7 or 8 :( but still just trying to take it a day at a time it if I can
Keeping everything crossed for us all

Tweaker · 25/04/2021 19:16

Hi @ElmtreeMama I know what you mean. I feel pregnant but not 'as' pregnant.... I keep reading that 9 weeks (I'm 9 weeks today) is when symptoms should be at their peak but I'm not finding that. I just hold on to the fact that every pregnancy is different. I'm pretty tired but that could just be normal life! I was often tired before pregnancy what with work, family, house and so on. How is everyone doing? Here's to another week for us all! One step closer.

Tweaker · 25/04/2021 19:17

Apologies, I basically just repeated my previous post! Now if baby brain is a thing this early then I definitely have that!

Fayezp1210 · 25/04/2021 19:36

@ElmtreeMama @Tweaker I feel the same as you two Ladies. I don’t feel very pregnant at all! I had little symptoms to start with and what I did have seems to of disappeared the last day or two! I’m keeping everything crossed that it’s just normal and because the placenta is starting to take over!

Tweaker · 25/04/2021 19:51

Oh yes @Fayezp1210 I forgot about the placenta taking over! Fingers crossed for us all.
I got my scan appointment through yesterday and like you @Fayezp1210 it's for when I'll be 13 weeks.

ElmtreeMama · 25/04/2021 19:56

Absolutely fingers crossed 🤞

I have booked a private scan for next weekend and got my nhs scan at booked for 14th when I'll be 12+4

Fayezp1210 · 25/04/2021 20:00

@Tweaker it could just be that or we could just be extremely lucky and not have many symptoms. I’m so emotional today! I could cry at any little thing ha! I’ve booked a private scan for Tuesday night, even though I’ve said all along that I’m not bothering with them this time! I’m the same as you, 9 weeks today! They must be so hectic with scans at the moment!

LozHAP35 · 27/04/2021 12:32

Hey everyone, just nipped on here to have a read up on how everyone is doing! I'm doing OK just like others say it's hard to be enjoying pregnancy when your not 100% that everything is OK with baby. I'm seeing consultant on 27th May, it can't come quick enough. I'm 14weeks tomorrow.... And showing a little bump ❤️. X

KeepSmiling89 · 27/04/2021 14:21

Hi everyone!
Sorry, not been reading posts on here recently. On a FB support group for pregnant ladies just now which is great, but, seeing everyone's 12 week scan pictures is bringing back memories of my MMC last year. I'm so excited for our scan in 2 weeks (early scan at 7+5 was fine, measuring as expected and consultant saw a heartbeat) but, after our only experience of scans has been that of loss, I'm still so scared in case we're asked "how far along are you?"
I'm 10+5 now, no bleeding or pain so nothing to worry about but that's what happened last time...it was SO cruel and I feel like my body just let me down by not miscarrying for me. I had to induce a miscarriage.

Just need a handhold now. Support group are posting pictures of baby clothes they've bought, prams they're going to get etc, but I can't get properly excited until I see my baby and hear that heartbeat for myself.

PurpleRaven777 · 28/04/2021 10:37

Hey everyone, sorry I've not been keeping up with the posts too well. Had dating scan this morning (12w5d) and all seems OK so far. Nuchal translucency seemed on the low side, which is great. Been told no news by Wednesday is a good sign, but couple of weeks until we get full results. Should get our appointment through for 20wks scan with fetal medicine soon - they refused to book it until 12wk scan done. Just a waiting game until then.

@LozHAP35 Even with our son, when we had no reason to worry, we didn't make any big purchases until 20wks You don't actually need nearly as much as many websites suggest and we bought quite a few things after he was born, when we'd worked out what we needed.

PurpleRaven777 · 28/04/2021 10:40

@KeepSmiling89 sorry the tag above should have been you - clicked the wrong button 🤦‍♀️

GSMCK · 28/04/2021 11:11

Congratulations @PurpleRaven777 great news.

I have my harmony test booked tonight. I wasn’t going to do it but with age I thought I better. I am 12 + 4 and my 12 week scan isn’t until nearly 14 weeks so doing it back to front. I haven’t had any scans yet so feeling a bit nervous about the whole thing.

Hope you are all keeping well x

Tweaker · 28/04/2021 19:23

@PurpleRaven777 brilliant news Grin how are you feeling? And I completely agree that you don't need as much as you think! It's all a bloody scam like valentines day cards and anti-cellulite cream Smile
@GSMCK good luck for your harmony scan. Crossing my fingers for you. Mine is in 13 days, counting down...

Tinkpod · 28/04/2021 23:12

Hi all, do you mind if I piggyback onto your November group please? I've just joined Mumsnet, I'm due around the 25th November give or take. This is the furthest I've ever gotten with pregnancy and is the first pregnancy I've had after 20 years of infertility, I'm 43, and I'd love to be in a group with other women at a similar stage as me

How amazing!! I've been trying 5 years and due in November

They have moved my 12 week scan forward to tomorrow when I'll only be 10+4 because of some other health conditions they want me to see consultant sooner

So have also booked a private scan for 11+6

Tweaker · 29/04/2021 07:20

Welcome @Tinkpod ! How exciting for you. We are similar ages and due similar times. I hope you don't mind me saying but it sounds like you've been through a great deal to get here. I'm wishing you all the very best for this pregnancy. How are you feeling? Do you have any scans booked?

I almost booked a scan last night but held off. I find it very difficult not knowing whether everything is OK or not.

Tinkpod · 29/04/2021 07:32

Hi @Tweaker , I have a scan this coming Tuesday, it can't come soon enough to be honest, I just need to know things are going ok in there, I've had extreme exhaustion and a bit of boob soreness but not really any morning sickness. There seems to be a bit of a shortage of scan appointments where I am apparently, I was going to book a private one but the closest date they had free was only a few days before the nhs one so I've opted to wait the extra few days and use the money to have the early blood test to find out if it's a boy or girl.... if everything is ok with it that is!

PurpleRaven777 · 29/04/2021 08:50

Thanks @GSMCK and @Tweaker 😊 I'm pleased to have ticked that scan off the list of hurdles to get through. I'm starting to hope that this one will stick but very anxious about the wait to 20wks. My son has additional needs with a suspected underlying genetic cause. They haven't been able to find the cause so can't test this pregnancy for it either. Best they can do is extra scans at 20wks but we had those with my son and they thought things would be OK. It's really hard but all we can do is keep going and hope for the best.

GSMCK, I hope your harmony scan went well. Tweaker, I'm still in awe of your resolve! I'm struggling not to use the doppler every day, which, I'm fully aware, is ridiculous. I've sworn to myself that I don't need to do it today, I just had a scan yesterday 🙈

@ElmtreeMama best of luck with your scan today. Will keep everything crossed.

@Tinkpod Congratulations! Sounds like you've had a long journey to get here. Glad your scan isn't too long to wait now.
