Did any of you NOT vomit?

I'm 6 weeks with my first and I'm absolutely petrified of vomiting so much so I almost decided against having children. I've had awful nausea and been given cyclizine but I just see so many stories of women who had vomiting or even HG. My anxiety is so bad I'm starting to regret getting pregnant. Did any of you have nausea and not vomit!? Is it inevitable that I will?

I didnt! I felt like I had a hangover some days but I wasn't sick physically sick even once!

Freetigerking · 08/02/2021 23:37

Was never sick but dear god I felt sick all the time especially with my daughter, prob right up till 7 months.

PandyT · 08/02/2021 23:38

That should have said at the start:

No a hint of nausea or sickness throughout either pregnancy.

WannabemoreWeaver · 08/02/2021 23:39

CBT for emetophobia would really help you. At some point if you have a child you will have to deal with vomit, and better to get a handle now. Fear of vomiting is tied to the disgust reaction, and general anxiety levels. It is pretty easy to work on and any local IAPT service should be able to help you. Just look for your local service online.

I didn’t vomit in either of my pregnancies. I felt a bit queasy sometimes, but I got off very lightly.

Heyahun · 08/02/2021 23:40

Never got sick - but basically from 8-17 weeks I felt like I was going to be sick basically all the time unfortunately :( I found constantly snacking helped keep it at bay though - cereal bars were my friend - had a stash beside the bed and if I woke up feeling sick would just have a snack 😂

Krook · 08/02/2021 23:41

Nausea for first twelve weeks then felt normal. No sickness or even nausea in labour. Same for all pregnancies.

YouokHun · 08/02/2021 23:44

I know you’ve tried CBT @ScouseSenorita but it might be worth looking at Professor Veale’s website as he specialises in emetophobia. It really is possible to get this problem under control - I’ve seen people make a really good recovery from it. www.veale.co.uk/

I had no sickness or nausea in either of my two pregnancies.

BiddyPop · 08/02/2021 23:46

I vomited twice.

First, at 11 weeks in the middle of a written exam and the day after I'd not enjoyed a pork chop dinner (as in, not been happy with them but ate them anyway). So could have been the exam or food poisoning rather than pg.

And on Christmas night, after 2 helpings of roast turkey, and 2 helpings of proper pudding when I had room to eat after weeks of barely being able to eat. Dd had dropped. And then she kicked out that yummy food later that night when labour hit hard.

I had felt nauseous all through the first trimester, but the only incidence of vomiting was that very stressful day.

Sh05 · 08/02/2021 23:49

5 children and never was sick but did feel nauseous all day everyday until around 6 months. I used to constantly suck on mints to keep the feeling at bay.

Sarahandduck18 · 08/02/2021 23:51

Never vomited. I had a ginger snap every morning which seemed to curb any nausea

Hangingtrousers · 08/02/2021 23:53

3 pregnancies zero sickness. Not even nausea.

Becstar90 · 08/02/2021 23:53

I didn't once my entire pregnancy. I found out I was pregnant at 9 weeks, shocked! Didn't get sick at all.

Mochatatts · 08/02/2021 23:55

Nauseous for the first 12 weeks ish with both boys but never actually sick. Felt horrendous for the first 15 weeks with this pregnancy, a girl, like really badly hungover but still never sick. Lived on ginger biscuits and very cold fresh orange juice for ages.

LouNatics · 08/02/2021 23:55

Never vomited through five pregnancies. Felt horrific for a long time. But never vomited.

Cattenberg · 08/02/2021 23:55

I didn’t vomit once in pregnancy. I felt mildly nauseous for much of the time, and it tended to be worse in the afternoon. The nausea eventually stopped at 16/17 weeks.

NiceGerbil · 08/02/2021 23:58

I didn't! Felt very tired in first trimester, pretty good second, very pregnant third!

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 09/02/2021 00:02

With dc1 I felt really sick for the first 16 weeks and I retched a lot but was only sick once (in horrendously embarrassing circumstances). Dc2 I felt sick for 20 weeks but wasn't actually sick once.

ClinkyMonkey · 09/02/2021 00:11

I felt nauseous throughout both of my pregnancies, but the only time I was sick was when I had a bad cough while pregnant with DS2 and coughed until I vomited. And, to be honest, it was a relief to actually be physically sick. Being nauseous with no vomiting was horrendous. I'm quite sure I wouldn't be saying that, though, if I knew what it felt like to be throwing up all the time!

TableFlowerss · 09/02/2021 00:15

I had nausea with both mine quite bad but I’m pleased to say I was never sick. The feeling did pass about week 14 (it was years ago so can’t remember exactly when it stopped but it did)

I found eating little and often helped relive the nausea feeling.

Congratulations 🥳

MsHedgehog · 09/02/2021 00:16

I vomited A LOT, and I really struggled with it. It wasn't the fear of vomiting, but rather the whole thing was very triggering for me, as it reminded me of when I was seriously ill many years ago and I felt like I was reliving that again, and it was tough.

But it got better. So you just need to power through. Remember, it's only temporary and it will pass, so you will be ok. Really hope the medication works for you and you can get through it.

Sweettea1 · 09/02/2021 00:30

2 dc here no vomit felt awfully sick with dd and could barely eat but no vomit.

Sorbet18 · 09/02/2021 05:06

I also have the same fear & was not sick at all during pregnancy or childbirth. I felt a bit sick sometimes during the early weeks (felt worse if I was tired) but I don't know how much of that was mainly worrying about getting sick. Sucking on a rennie used to help if I thought my stomach felt a bit unsettled and I was feeling anxious. I think once I got to 8/9weeks and was still ok I started to relax a little bit.

BigusBumus · 09/02/2021 07:30

@ScouseSenorita I'm sorry I went to bed last night and didn't reply!
I was a bit nauseous till about 10 weeks I would say. Never sick and not nauseous enough to stop me going to work or anything.

I drank a lot of ginger beer I think. It did help to settle my stomach.

Is your emetaphobia just about you being sick or other people as well?
