Did any of you NOT vomit?

I'm 6 weeks with my first and I'm absolutely petrified of vomiting so much so I almost decided against having children. I've had awful nausea and been given cyclizine but I just see so many stories of women who had vomiting or even HG. My anxiety is so bad I'm starting to regret getting pregnant. Did any of you have nausea and not vomit!? Is it inevitable that I will?

@merryhouse

Quite a lot of nausea (both pregnancies) but never vomited (and I'm the total opposite of you - having suffered common migraine practically from birth I love being sick because it means I'm going to feel better now Grin).

Ate quite a lot of crystallised ginger, and drank peppermint tea. Can't remember what stage it was (younger is almost 18).

I wish I was like you! I've never heard of crystallised ginger does it help? x

I’m having a baby girl, I felt sick from about 6 weeks until 10 weeks but was never actually sick. Some people don’t experience any sickness so hopefully you don’t x x x

ScouseSenorita · 08/02/2021 22:57

@loubieloo4

Slight nausea in the first few weeks of all mine, then odd reactions to the smell of some foods so I avoided them! The exhaustion was the worst for me in those early months.
What weeks did it ease off? With me coming up to 6 I'm so scared this is when it's going to really ramp up 😢

@BigusBumus

I never did. 2 boys. Felt a bit nauseous with both for a couple of early weeks but was never actually sick.
What week did it ease off by? x

I was never sick once, felt nauseous sometimes but wasn't sick ever during pregnancy.

Equimum · 08/02/2021 22:59

I’ve never actually committed with the nausea. With my second, I could barely get off the sofa for several weeks, and spent much of the time thinking I would collapse, but I was never actually sick.

ScouseSenorita · 08/02/2021 22:59

@Sceptre86

9 weeks pregnant. I have had all day nauseaxwguch was hard but managed without any medication. Not actually been sick so far in this pregnancy. I was sick very little with dd and ds.
Have you found it's starting to ease off a bit now? Everywhere I look it says it gets worse at 9 weeks and seen as I'm 6 weeks and feeling sick already I'm absolutely scared stiff this is only the start x

Not once. With my first pregnancy, I didn't even feel sick. Subsequent pregnancies brought nausea but never did I actually vomit.

Oysterbabe · 08/02/2021 23:00

I wasn't sick once with either of mine. A fair bit of nausea but no actual sick.

ScouseSenorita · 08/02/2021 23:01

@Blurp

I didn't vomit either time. Was a bit nauseous early on, but by about week 8/9 it had passed and I felt fine. Anti-nausea meds helped a lot, and I found that hunger made it worse, so tried to make sure I ate frequently.
So yours was better by 8-9 weeks!? I really hope that's the case for me! I keep reading thats when it's at its worse which is scaring me so much with being 6 weeks now and having nausea already x

I suggest you stop reading about all the things that might go wrong, and concentrate on what's actually happening.

Read enough to know the warning signs to look out for of the scary pregnancy complications, and then stop. You'll get plenty of warning before you need to be hospitalised from HG: you don't need to know any more than that.

And, as many posters have indicated, yer basic nausea can be masked by eating something, so being too anxious to eat is counter-productive even at an immediate level.

Wellysock · 08/02/2021 23:01

Me, no sickness or nausea at all. Oh except once in my first pregnancy after taking a pregnacare multivitamin sample from a bounty pack. Never took another one and never felt sick again for that pregnancy or the others.

ohnonotyetplease · 08/02/2021 23:02

Felt sick most of my waking hours from 4-12 weeks but was never actually sick.
Much worse was the migraines that started after 12 weeks!

lockdownandout · 08/02/2021 23:05

No sickness here either.
My horrific travel sickness was cured though!
Haven't been on a boat since my teens,
couldn't sit in the back of a car, no buses, no trains if in the wrong seat direction & avoided flying for years (taking days to recover from my very occasional unavoidable-work-induced flights!) Discovered my cure after falling asleep as a passenger in a car, realising there was something amiss that prompted the pregnancy test!

Joolsin · 08/02/2021 23:05

No nausea or vomiting whatsoever on either of my two.

actionstationsplease · 08/02/2021 23:06

Nausea but no vomiting with both of mine. Another vote for crystalised ginger. That, and marmite on toast were the only thing that kept it at bay from week 6 to about week 14.

Drbrowns · 08/02/2021 23:06

I got sick once with three pregnancies but felt sick pretty much constantly til about 14 weeks on all of them.

ftmum94 · 08/02/2021 23:06

Felt sick morning and evening from week 5 to week 10 and occasionally feel sick now at 16 weeks but haven’t vomited

merryhouse · 08/02/2021 23:06

Re-reading your posts I think it's worth reiterating:

feeling nauseous is nothing to worry about

You're scared because you hate being sick, and you know it can lead to significant problems. But you're not being sick. What's more, even if your nausea gets worse, it's still not being sick. The nausea in and of itself isn't going to make you ill.

Have something you can eat readily available. As I said, I had crystallised ginger and peppermint tea (though I think since then ginger has been regarded as a bad thing?) and another poster suggested digestives.

MonkeyPuddle · 08/02/2021 23:07

I had no nausea or vomiting in either pregnancy. I just burped like a gurgling drain.

Musicalmistress · 08/02/2021 23:07

I was never actually sick but, my god,there were days I wished I had been. The constant nausea was awful.

MoonlightMedicine · 08/02/2021 23:07

Vomit free here for 3 pregnancies.

Blurp · 08/02/2021 23:08

@ScouseSenorita yes, much better by about 8/9 weeks, and gone by 12. I don't remember any more clearly than that, sorry!

It was absolutely fine, really. I have a terrible phobia of vomiting, but it wasn't triggered at all. I tried to get lots of sleep, as that definitely helped. And eating dry biscuits (digestives or Rich Tea) helped to. But I don't think I was ever too ill to miss a meal or anything even.

Chelyanne · 08/02/2021 23:08

I hate being sick.
I've had terrible nausea but there's only been once with current pregnancy that I haven't been able to hold it in. In previous pregnancies I've been similar, just once or twice even with my twins.

porcelinaofthevastoceanss · 08/02/2021 23:08

Felt super nauseous with both - more with my DS (first pregnancy) than my second (DD) as my sense of smell was altered and everything smelt like garbage. Miraculously never vomited!
