So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

@jellybean13419 how exciting! Was this an internal or external scan? X

@jellybean13419 thank you so much for posting! This is very reassuring! Good luck with your pregnancy xx

jellybean13419 · 22/02/2021 20:03

When my other half booked it, it said it would be internal before 10 weeks. However it was abdominal. Went into the room and was about to drop my jeans, luckily she told me in time! What dates has everyone got their private scans booked for? It's honestly soooo reassuring, I really couldn't believe it was happening until I saw the bean on the screen :)

AMD30 · 22/02/2021 20:05

@AS1188 thank you! How far are you?
I’ve rang again this afternoon and the doctor is going to ring me back tomorrow so will tell him how anxious it’s making me. I’m testing a ridiculous amount to make sure they aren’t getting any lighter.
Have they rebooked you for another scan?

cooper96 · 22/02/2021 20:26

I've booked my private scan in for Friday 12th March. (8 weeks 4 days) then my booking in appointment on. Friday 19th March. I'm glad you've had that reassurance! I keep thinking whether to ring and bring my private one forward but then I'd be disappointed if I couldn't see anything 🙈xx

We had the same debate too! But exactly like you, kept talking myself out of it as it can raise my worries than settle them! It's so hard to wait but it's easier knowing you get to see baby before the 12 week mark. Your booking appointment on the 19th is the day after my 12 week scan! You must be a couple weeks behind me? Me EDD is the 1st October.

OnceUponAThread · 22/02/2021 21:28

@jellybean13419 ah - thank you that's so reassuring to hear.

I'll stick with my booking then. That means this time next week I'll have been ShockShock

AS1188 · 22/02/2021 21:33

@AMD30
I don't actually know Hmm I have quite long cycles between 32-37 days and with the sac being quite small I imagine I'm just hitting the 5ish week mark.
The sonographer said they'd have me back in for another scan but then the nurse said they aren't doing that at the moment because of covid. So I don't have another one booked in.
I think we will book a private early scan for maybe 3ish weeks time? In the meantime, so long as I have no alarming pains or bleeding I'm just trying to hope for the best!
Totally understand your worries though, I'm exactly the same. It's such a terrifying time but try your gp first and see what they say xx

Kittysw · 22/02/2021 21:45

We have also been debating when to book for the early scan but have gone with 15th March where I will be 8+1 I believe. We thought this would mean even if I dated a little earlier we would still be able to see something. The waiting makes me so anxious.

I too saw some super cute little Halloween baby grows and had to try super hard not to get over excited and buy anything! I have also told work today given the announcement as at 12 weeks I wont be able to do parts of my job role and that is exactly when work will be opening again. Though it was best to give them plenty of time to prepare given the task of reopening is a huge one.

2021WillBeGreat · 22/02/2021 21:50

I'll be joining others in telling work super early. I work in a care role which will be hard to cover and need to give as much notice as possible. Also, I've been pretty sick in the mornings so it will probably be fairly obvious.

poodlepip · 22/02/2021 23:23

This is interesting says the differences between scans each week to give an idea of the risk of miscarriage. I had an emergency scan due to pain and saw heartbeat so it is 10%, but 2 weeks later would drop to 2%

OnceUponAThread · 23/02/2021 00:07

@poodlepip thanks for posting that - it's really interesting.

Will be extremely reassuring if there's a heartbeat next week then as I'll be 7 weeks 5 days so presumably risks drop to between 5 and 2%.

Absolutely terrified there won't be one though. DH thinks I'm borrowing trouble, but I know so so so many people who've had missed miscarriages and it's such early I find it really hard to assume things are ok.

Ola85 · 23/02/2021 07:31

Good Morning ladies, did you sleep well? I had another weird dream. Then woke up at 4am for an hour worrying about stuff.
I too can't help but constantly worry about the miscarriage even though I never had one. Both my children are healthy and so were the pregnancies but I know it doesn't guarantee anything....I wish I could sleep all the way through the scan day...

Ellyr08 · 23/02/2021 07:47

@Ola85 since being pregnant I have such strange vivid dreams! Usually not nice dreams either. Last night I dreamt I had a MC and woke up in a panic. I thought it was just me going mental Confused
Hope you manage to have a good day despite not much sleep! Xx

cooper96 · 23/02/2021 07:52

I keep having awful dreams and being awake from around 4-6am. Last night was a dream that I went to the toilet and found blood. What a relief when I actually went to the toilet! A side effect of folic acid is sleep problems/ nightmares which kind of makes sense as I'm on the higher dose also.

jellybean13419 · 23/02/2021 08:49

Morning ladies. Sorry so many of you had bad dreams last night :( the way hormones affect our sleep is crazy! I'm part of the waking up at 3-6am club. It's very draining.
Has anyone managed to continue exercising at the moment? Use to run 4/5 times a week, can't get off the sofa at the moment or find any motivation to go outside! I'm guessing energy levels get better after 13 weeks maybe?? Xx

Ola85 · 23/02/2021 09:39

@jellybean13419 I don't exercise at the moment as I am usually a gym person. But have a dog and power walk with him every night :)

I guess if we all have the same sleep problems we can assume it a healthy early pregnancy symptom 😀😉

Ola85 · 23/02/2021 09:40

@cooper96 what a horrible dream!
It's interesting about the folic acid, never heard it might cause sleep issues! X

MeltingSnowflake · 23/02/2021 10:43

I haven't been having the vivid dreams (well, I have but I always have them) but I have been waking up early every morning, which makes me a bit grumpy because I'm not a morning person! Grin

I was quite nauseous yesterday morning but not today, and just realised that my boobs are less sore today - obviously that immediately worries me! Has anyone else experienced that?

Only 5 weeks, but I'm thinking of doing a scan at 7 weeks I think...

MeltingSnowflake · 23/02/2021 10:55

PS so glad there are lots of other 'geriatric' ladies here! I'm nearly 37 👵🏻

AS1188 · 23/02/2021 11:10

Yes I’ve been waking up every morning for the last week at 4am and rushing to the toilet to check all is ok. I can’t get back to sleep if I don’t check as I just lay there worrying! I almost dread night times...

Ola85 · 23/02/2021 11:23

@MeltingSnowflake my symptoms are almost gone, too! I have mild stomach cramps every now and again but boobs not sore. I definitely had more symptoms last week! What a rollercoaster!

brushlaptop · 23/02/2021 11:48

Hi all, also due 20th October!

pixiedust21 · 23/02/2021 14:18

According to the due date calculator thing I am 7 weeks today.

I had to pop into my GP surgery to fill out a form and to get a pack from them which has info in about referring myself to the midwife. Looks like first appointment will be in the next 3 weeks which is weird!!

Not really any symptoms to be honest - feeling generally well, just occasional cramps mostly at night, and boobs tender especially in mornings!

Just trying to stay calm and take each day at a time. I'm usually an anxious mess about things but actually feel quite calm about it all so just going with the flow!

whitershadeofpale · 23/02/2021 14:35

I made my midwife appointment yesterday, for 26th March. It feels so long away.
