So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

@poodlepip I work in a mental health ward so I told my manager when I was 7 weeks, because I had to be redeployed.
In my view, it's best to let work know early for many reasons: a risk assessment can protect you and your baby from early on and make working during the pregnancy safer and more enjoyable. Also, if something goes wrong, you'll have more support and you won't have to explain the whole thing from the beginning. My previous pregnancy ended in MC at 6 weeks and again I had already told my manager and I was able to be signed off work immediately and also got counselling when I came back.
Of course, I wouldn't be comfortable if suddenly everybody knew but as long as it's kept between me, my manager and whoever else strictly needs to know, then I'm fine!

jellybean13419 · 22/02/2021 10:32

Hi @poodlepip
I suffered with very bad nausea starting around 6 weeks. I'm a department manager in essential retail, so trying to cover the gagging feeling whilst spending a day constantly talking to people politely was becoming impossible. I ended up telling my manager early. It was just as well I did because our company has said anyone in first trimester cannot be at work due to Covid. Where in my job role it is impossible to work from home, they have suspended me on full pay until 13 weeks. I get this might not be the same for all professions, I don't know where Covid and early pregnancy risk assessments fall across the board, so could be worth telling them to find out your own risk assessment outcome.
Also, big congratulations to all the new BFPS on here xxx
Another also, blimey the fatigue is absolutely exhausting. Anyone else suffering with terrible insomnia and at the same time the worst fatigue. Swear pregnancy is just full of opposites!

Hi guys, I hope it’s ok to join. I’ve been reading since I got my BFP at 10dpo and am 5w 1d today. It’s our first child, but I had a MC at 6w in November (although I’d been spotting for a week or so with no line progression before that so think it was earlier) and had a CP last month.

I’ve been taking aspirin this time and all seems to be going well. I did a final test today as I’m planning on calling to book in with the midwife today.

Ola85 · 22/02/2021 10:52

I am 35, will be 36 when the baby is born. Does it mean I will be treated as "old" and more at risk or just like any other pregnancy?

8dpwoah · 22/02/2021 11:05

I think I might have to tell work this week too- if Bojo says all kids back in on 8th March I won't be able to carry on WFH as I have been doing (without this very good reason I mean!).
@Ola85 I was 34 to 35 with my first and I remember the midwife mentioning it at booking but I don't think the elderly label comes in til a bit later, I don't think it came up again tbh. I'll be 37 this time so I'll let you know if she calls me names at this booking appointment 🤣

Ola85 · 22/02/2021 11:22

@8dpwoah yes please let me know if we qualify as oldies already!
Good luck with the boss, too!

TBay07 · 22/02/2021 12:17

Called my GP today, they said they'd post me a form that gets sent to the midwife 🙈 o had pre eclampsia last time so keen to be seen as soon as possible but it seems things have really slowed since I was last pregnant so I have a feeling I'll be waiting a while.

@whitershadeofpale I'm around the same, 5 weeks today I calculated 🥰

Yes the fatigue and nausea have really kicked in for me now as so many others are saying! Coupled with terrible sleep at night, the joys 😂 all making me feel like I'm really pregnant now though so not all bad ❤️ xx

JGthistle · 22/02/2021 12:18

Hi, new here and grateful I've found it. I'll be 6 weeks on Thursday and 1st pregnancy. Went through ivf last year but was terrible ... mainly as the day of egg retrieval lockdown kicked in. I've got achy boobs and a few twingy cramps. Had heartburn before I took the test. Took me a while to realose as we had really given up! Can't stop thinking about the potential of miscarriage .. @ola85 and @8dpwoah ... I'm here to make you feel better .. just turned 43 Shock

whitershadeofpale · 22/02/2021 12:26

oohh exciting @TBay07, each week feels link a milestone at the moment.

My symptoms come and go in strength. I had some cramping on Friday night/ Saturday morning which worried me but it's settled now and I had a stronger test today than on Friday, which whilst I know doesn't prove anything, does offer some reassurance. Mainly I've had nausea, really sore boobs and terrible headaches last week.

Ola85 · 22/02/2021 12:27

@JGthistle welcome in the geriatric club Grin I can't stop worrying about all things that can go wrong, too. I wish there was a switch to turn all the negative thoughts off!
Huge congratulations on your pregnancy 🥳

33Carr · 22/02/2021 13:00

Hi all! Hoping I can join! Got our BFP last night, around 4 weeks at the moment. Feeling slightly nervous as we had a MMC last year but hoping this one sticks around!

Will be nice to discuss things with other people as I won't be telling friends/family until after the first scan!

woooooohhhhhh · 22/02/2021 13:06

Hi everyone, I got my BFP yesterday, the day before and today 😂I'm also geriatric at 41 and have 4 older children. Was very shocked to find out I'm pg as my partner (2nd marriage) thought he was Infertile so it's a lot to get our heads around. Fingers crossed we all stay safe and well x

pixiedust21 · 22/02/2021 14:02

Welcome to new members of this club! Wishing everyone a safe 9 months!

Still feels so surreal to even be discussing this. I still can't believe it really. I'm not having any nausea at all - one of the few people I told said to enjoy it and make the most of it rather than worry about not having it haha.

But sore boobs, cramps and very weird and vivid dreams which I'm not sure is a thing but has definitely been the case the last few weeks!

I have to go into my GP surgery reception tomorrow to fill out a form to get referred to midwife for appointment so will see what happens there.

AMD30 · 22/02/2021 14:08

Hi everyone! Hope it’s ok to join.
I had a positive pregnancy test last week which puts me at 5+1 - expected due date 24th Oct (super scared as I have just got over COVID end of January).
I had a CP in September 20 ( was my 2nd) so I can’t settle my nerves and keep testing. My GP was super unhelpful last time and instead of checking my bloods referred straight to midwives and had horrible experience after bleeding and early scans in EPU to come home to midwifery letters and scans through post a week after.
I have rang the GP and told I can’t ask for a blood test to confirm HCG rising. Anyone else had this?
I don’t have many symptoms other than very sore breasts, wind/bloating. Just want confirmation (other than the pregnancy tests which still haven’t settled my nerves despite getting 2-3 weeks on clear blue).

8dpwoah · 22/02/2021 14:58

Hi all the new ladies! Especially the geriatrics corner 😂 I'm so glad somebody said about vivid dreams, I swear I didn't have them this early last time but blimey my brain has made up some crazy stories this last week!

pixiedust21 · 22/02/2021 15:21

@8dpwoah think that was me with the dreams - they've been so so weird 😂 what even is that about?!

pixiedust21 · 22/02/2021 16:45

Popped into Boots today and saw a tiny baby Halloween themed baby gro that was in the sale. Not looking or buying things obviously as it's so early but for a minute I let myself get excited and imagine our little October baby 🥰

woooooohhhhhh · 22/02/2021 17:26

How am I so tired already 😭😭😭

OnceUponAThread · 22/02/2021 17:44

Forgot to take my pregnacare yesterday so am obviously now panicking that it has done irreparable damage, which is obviously ridiculous. Honestly I am such a mess of anxiety at the moment.

I'm also worried that my private early scan is too early and wondering if I should move it?

They say from 6 weeks is fine but general wisdom seems to be that 8 is best. Mine is booked for 7 weeks 5 days. Is that ok, do you think? Or do I need to see if I can push it back.

Only symptom here is that my boobs are bloody enormous. DH was delighted until he discovered that they are also vvvvv. sore. GrinGrinGrin

Still no nausea at all. Lots of exhaustion but that's fairly standard so hard to know what is pg related.

Wish there was some concrete way of knowing that things are ok, and it's I'll going well. So stressed about the idea of being all excited only to find out it's a MMC later. Argh.

Eek. Can't wait till much further along and can start buying stuff. Obviously ridiculous Halloween costume now top of my list.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I had a chemical last September too. Found out I was pregnant just over a week ago and have just felt anxious the whole time and making myself unwell with worry. Called my doctor to see if they could do my bloods and got told no and he just referred me to EPU. Went last Thursday for a scan, was so early they could only see a tiny gestational sac. So whilst proves pregnancy, it doesn't mean everything is going to be ok... can't help but worry! Why don't you call and explain anxieties and see if they can refer you just for reassurance? I'm now in the EPU system and they've said I can call them direct with any issues moving forward x
Ola85 · 22/02/2021 18:18

@OnceUponAThread I booked my early scan today and I will be 7 weeks 4 days - I plan to drink a barrel of water beforehand and am determined to see my little baby. I can't wait any longer! X

OnceUponAThread · 22/02/2021 18:21

@Ola85 ok that's reassuring. Perhaps I will leave mine when it is then. It would just be so frustrating to spend the money and find that it's too early to tell. When is your early scan? Mine would be next week.

Ola85 · 22/02/2021 18:28

@OnceUponAThread mine will be 16th March - that's only 22 days from today! I'm only 5 weeks. Please let us know how did it go 😁

jellybean13419 · 22/02/2021 19:14

@OnceUponAThread and @Ola85
Hello! We booked my private scan for what I assumed would be 8 + 2. However when I went to the scan last week, they dated me at 7 + 6. It's cos i have irregular periods. I could clearly see little bean and the yolk sac and the little heart beating away! So should be absolutely fine date wise :) xxx
