So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

Tired today and sore boobs.

Got a backache from lifting dog into the bath, and last night i think i woke up feeling like my pelvis was twisting. but i don't know if it was a dream.

Ola85 · 23/02/2021 15:19

@whitershadeofpale I personally think this is ridiculous how long until we can see the midwife for the first time. While I try and understand their reasoning behind it I also think it would work wonder for our mental health if we could have a meeting earlier!

If you could have an earlier midwife appointment, what would you want it to cover?

MeltingSnowflake · 23/02/2021 15:37

@Ola85 SUCH a rollercoaster! Mentally and physically.

I haven’t been able to book an early scan yet because one day I’m super relaxed and totally fine with waiting until the NIPT at 10 weeks and the next day I’m panicking and wanting one next week! 🙈😄

MeltingSnowflake · 23/02/2021 15:38

@Kona84 I feel really uncomfortable when my pelvis is even a tiny bit twisted at the moment - I think it must be the bloating 🎈🤷🏻‍♀️

Ola85 · 23/02/2021 15:45

@8dpwoah I'd like a blood test to see if the HGC levels are in line with how many weeks. I think that would be reassuring. Blood test to see if there are any anomalies, eg low iron and a urine test for any infections as I read they can be dangerous in early pregnancy, in fact pregnancy at any stage. I would also throw in an early scan to confirm number of babies/not ectopic and that would be about enough for me to feel better 😂

@MeltingSnowflake I know for sure I need to have an early scan. Otherwise I might need some mental therapy soon. Only my husband knows I'm pregnant so I can't really talk to anyone about my worries and this is killing me.

yellowspot · 23/02/2021 15:49

I completely agree @Ola85 . I think blood tests to check hormone levels early should be something they do for reassurance and to be sure things are look as they should!

8dpwoah · 23/02/2021 15:51

See for me I'd rather they added an extra scan at 36 weeks as I had one then because of problems and it picked up another problem. Unless we can give the NHS more taxes from some of the dodging mega-companies in which case yes I'd have the earlier stuff too.

I suppose the sad fact is that even if things are ok one week, at the very early stage, they might not be the next, so even the reassurance stuff is only a snapshot. I had my first urine and bloods at 9 weeks last time and sure enough I had a UTI that I hadn't been aware of so I see the value in those tests, I just think if you did them any earlier you'd end up doing them twice anyway. So we deffo need to get taxing the dodgers to pay for it😂

MeltingSnowflake · 23/02/2021 15:54

@Ola85 I’ve told a few close friends and it has helped a lot - they all have children so are really good for reassurance and answering random questions. It definitely helps me not go toooo mad with it all 😁

Do you have anyone like that you’d feel comfortable telling?

I know people say you’re not supposed to say anything this early on, but if I miscarried I’d want to talk to my friends about it.

whitershadeofpale · 23/02/2021 15:56

Totally agree @Ola85, especially as I’ve had previous losses and never got as far as seeing a midwife and am taking aspirin this time round.

It’s not even a face to face meeting but a phone call. Speaking to the midwife sooner would definitely help my mental health.

I know it's all about the money 💰 and nothing we can do to change it ...
Ola85 · 23/02/2021 16:29

@MeltingSnowflake the reason I haven't told anyone yet is because I'd love my older children to find out first. They've asked for a sibling and I will tell them right after the first scan and then the rest of the family and friends will be told 😃

@whitershadeofpale it must be so hard for you after previous losses I can't even imagine. I really hope this time will be different. Can I ask why I do you take aspirin?

Ellyr08 · 23/02/2021 16:40

@jellybean13419 I am a keen runner and at the moment I'm still managing to run 6 days a week (around 45-50 miles a week) I'm not sure how long this will last though! Just going with how I feel. Some days running feels fine and some days it feels like a bigger effort. I started a running pregnancy thread which you are welcome to join Smile

MeltingSnowflake · 23/02/2021 16:52

Ahhh that’s lovely @Ola85 - they’ll be so excited! 😁

@Ellyr08 very jealous of your runs!! I’ve been injured since August but my podiatrist has given me the go ahead to start running again in a month... but now I’m pregnant 🙈😄 I was going to start right from scratch again, couch to 5k, so I’m thinking it’ll be ok to do as will still be in my first trimester 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️

whitershadeofpale · 23/02/2021 17:03

@Ola85 because it’s often prescribed for people with losses and I have a family history of blood clotting disorders, including Hughes Syndrome which is usually diagnosed after multiple losses (but they won’t test me unless I have had three losses myself 🤷‍♀️)

OnceUponAThread · 23/02/2021 17:25

@MeltingSnowflake I'm thinking about starting C25K just to get me back into the swing of thing.

OnceUponAThread · 23/02/2021 17:25

MeltingSnowflake · 23/02/2021 17:31

@OnceUponAThread ooh let me know if you do! I can’t start for a month but I’ll definitely do it with you!

Ketkins · 23/02/2021 17:54

@Pess

Hi all,

Can I join to? I got a very surprising positive a 4weeks3 from memory. I am currently 5 weeks 1. I am a nervous wreck and worried about finding blood every time I go to the toilet!
I have a 12 year old step daughter and a 5 year old adopted daughter. We've been trying for 6 years, and after multiple failed rounds of IVF this couldn't be more of a surprise!

Congratulations to everyone else Grin

The same has happened to me! 6 years of trying and miscarriages after IVF. I'm 6 weeks. Total random surprise at 43 yrs old. It's so nerve wracking tho'
AMD30 · 23/02/2021 18:28

@AS1188 I am also thinking about a private scan. Looking at the week of March 16th which would put me at 8 weeks.
Hoping you feel ok and not worrying too much - although easier said than done!

I had a telephone appointment with the GP this afternoon- very short and to the point as with my CP was referred straight to midwives and told him about my worries and I just want to know my HCG is going up as expected. He agreed and I’m booked in for bloods next week. Not sure of the reason but he said it’s best to check when I’m 6 weeks.
At least a positive getting levels checked and then will book private scan all being well. Smile

jellybean13419 · 23/02/2021 21:23

@Ellyr08 blimey, you're a saint! I totally admire you for smashing so many miles a week. I shall have a look for your thread and join, I definitely need to get myself reacquainted with my running shoes again. I'm almost 9 weeks, so hoping within the next 2 weeks the fatigue will start to fade. Maybe 😂

rainbowsandfairydust · 23/02/2021 21:23

I am still undecided as to weather to book an early scan or not as I know I will still worry all the time. The Dr has given me anti sickness meds now I so hope they start working soon. I had a very weird dream that I was pregnant with twins but I lost one Sad I think this is as a few people have guessed I am pregnant due to the running off to be sick and the fact my tummy is so bloated I already look really pregnant Grin

OnceUponAThread · 23/02/2021 21:30

@MeltingSnowflake that sounds like a brilliant excuse for me putting it off for a month. GrinGrinGrin

Youllbeoldertoo · 23/02/2021 21:39

Late to the game but you don’t actually need to tell your doctor, you can just self refer to the hospital. I told my doc with my first baby and have just self referred after that. This is my 3rd pregnancy.

WiltshireSteph · 23/02/2021 23:59

Hi everyone,
I have spent the last hours reading this thread and it's been so reassuring to know many of you have had the same symptoms and fears as me. I am due on 6th October and it's my first time, I'm 34 so will probably be classed as a geriatric Grin. We are both so excited and nervous at the same time!
Symptoms wise I was doing ok till yesterday. I'm 7 +4 and my boobs are soooo sore I have already bought some maternity bras to sleep in. But yesterday morning sickness kicked in and I felt like I had spent five hours on fairground ride.
Really interested to read about the early scans, I never even thought they would be affordable. I have checked my local clinic and they have an online booking service showing availability for Thursday! Will definatley be talking about that to the hubby tomorrow, I dont think he would be impressed if I woke him now Smile
Really looking forward to sharing this journey with you all!
Xxx
