So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

@Kona84 the diabetes test is totally fine, fasting blood test in morning. Drink some kind of juice that they give you similar to lucozade (but cheaper so not as nice) then blood test about lunch time. The worst bit is the juice haha. Sounds like you'll be fine though anyway.

Sorry to hear about your previous loss, I completely understand how anxious that makes future pregnancies. You will relax in time and start to enjoy it when you are ready 💕

cooper96 · 12/03/2021 14:03

Hey everyone not been on the thread for a while! Had an early scan on Sunday last week which shown baby's heart beat and measurements. In the weeks leading up to the scan at 7+5 I was falling asleep at 6.30pm, couldn't stomach food, felt really nauseated and just generally awful. Since the scan I've had no symptoms at all. I know people say that it's normal for them to come and go but I'm definitely an over thinker! We're planning on telling family on Mother's Day this Sunday but couldn't bear telling them without some more reassurance due to the lack of symptoms so we have booked another early scan for this evening at 7.30 and hoping to show up at 8 weeks 4 days. Hopefully my anxiety will relax as otherwise these scans are going to become very expensive 🤣xx

Ooh exciting about the twins!
And @cooper96 I know what you mean, it is good for more reassurance. My fatigue defintely went away for a bit then replaced with nausea. I don't think no symptoms are a problem but hard not to think about it.

Has everyone else got offered the combined first trimester test (scan and blood test)?

Mine isnt til after Easter when would be 13 weeks would love to have it sooner, as don't want to wait another 3 weeks but don't want to waste money on scans. My local place does a scan bundle with early & gender & 4D for £250. Is that silly thinking about it... Too much?

HappyVibesxo · 12/03/2021 15:01

@Kona84 Please don't worry about your BMI, it is what it is! Mine is 32 and will also have a GD test but this time at 26 weeks. You used to fast, have a blood test, have the drink, wait a few hours and then have another blood test. But the MW told me at my booking in that due to CV19 they don't do that anymore as they don't want people hanging around at the hospital (you're not meant to leave between blood tests) so now it's a simple routine blood test at your 26 week midwife appointment. Yeay!!! Good news! My BMI is lower now then it was with my previous DCs. Where I live if it's over 35 you go consultant lead and if it's over 40 by the time you're 36 weeks (you get weighed again then) you aren't allowed to give birth at the midwife lead unit, you have to go on the labour ward. As I said it varies from county to county but just as a rough guide. Please do not worry!!!! Smile

Jelliestogether · 12/03/2021 15:03

@cravingmilkshake congratulations on twins that's amazing! I've also got a 19m old so will have the same age gap as you!! Did you have any extra symptoms that made you think it could even be twins??

@Jl2020 don't worry about your booking appointment, mins is at 10+4 and then a scan at 12+3

HappyVibesxo · 12/03/2021 15:04

@cooper96 Good luck this evening! I'm exactly the same and have my 2nd private scan tomorrow just so I have some reassurance for mother's day! I had a scan at 8+5 and it's looking very 'baby like' at that stage! Enjoy and try not to fret. Easier said than done I know!

HappyVibesxo · 12/03/2021 15:05

@cravingmilkshake Congratulations!!! My NCT friend from DC1 is currently 33 weeks pregnant with twin boys and she has her section booked for two weeks time! Will you be finding out their genders?!

HappyVibesxo · 12/03/2021 15:08

@poodlepip I think the average for an early scan is anywhere between £65-£95. For a gender scan, yiu have the option to find out baby's gender at your 20 week NHS scan. I have no idea about 4D scans! DH has always been so against us having one as he doesn't want to know what the baby looks like until they arrive! I'd find it fascinating though!

Kona84 · 12/03/2021 15:26

@poodlepip the blood and scan was mentioned to me.
I’ve forgotten what was said though

MF1981 · 12/03/2021 15:31

@cravingmilkshake I’m glad you’re here! I commented on another thread you were on as I’m also having twins!

MF1981 · 12/03/2021 15:35

@poodlepip yes I was offered the combined test when I go for my 12 week scan. Although I’ll be nearly 13 weeks by the time I have it on 7th April.

pinkpig381 · 12/03/2021 16:17

Has anyone felt faint at all? In my pregnancy with my son I had fainting spells whilst queuing in shops and it happened again today in boots!
So embarrassing, halfway through being served and I had to say to her I'm going to faint! She was so lovely and got a pharmacy assistant and they helped me get to a chair and got me a bottle of water.
I tried to breathe through it when I felt it coming on but I think it was too late, my hearing went and I felt my legs going! Luckily it passed quickly once I sat down (in front of an audience might I add Blush)
I'm 9 weeks tomorrow so baby isn't even big yet!

pixiedust21 · 12/03/2021 16:22

After my phone appointment this morning I went for my bloods etc this afternoon. All went well though I feel a bit poked and prodded now!! Blood pressure checked - for some reason I'd convinced myself it would be high as I'm overweight but it was perfect.

I will have to see a consultant when I go for my scan due to BMI but hopefully it will be fine, the midwife certainly didn't seem overly concerned or worried about anything. Got my big pack for all my notes which I have to lug around everywhere Grin

It's just feeling surreal still but a bit more real?! I don't know. I hate getting tests done in case they find something I didn't know was wrong Grin so I'll now be a bit worried about the bloods til we get them back haha. Ah there's always something. But feel we are moving forward!

Drumstick1223 · 12/03/2021 18:07

Good luck tonight @cooper96 this part of pregnancy is so scary and it's the not knowing. I don't think we're all given enough credit generally for coping with this 💕

cooper96 · 12/03/2021 18:15

Thank you ♥️ I will post an update after the scan xx

Back from the scan! Everything was fine and is such a relief now for us to be able to tell our parents on Mother's Day. We went to two different scanning places and felt much more comfortable at this one so glad we've done that so we know where to book future scans.

1st scan was on Sunday 7th and crown to rump was 14.4mm and dated at 7 weeks 5 days.

2nd scan was Friday 12th and crown to rump was 22.4mm and dated at 9 weeks.

I was slightly confused as the scans were 5 days apart but measure out 9 days apart. They advised that the bigger the baby the more accurate the measurements will be and is likely to change by a few days again at the 12 week scan.

The lady was lovely and took time in explaining everything which I could actually take on board this time as the first scan I was just so glad there was a baby!! Xx

Jl2020 · 12/03/2021 20:35

@cooper96 lovely scan picture! Glad all went well Smile

Mumnttc · 12/03/2021 20:51

@HappyVibesxo I hope the sickness isnt too bad for you! I was on metoclopramide, then cyclizine, now ondansetron. These actually feel like they're doing something! I've managed to eat a small meal today! I've lost a stone though so far and I'm 10 weeks tomorrow. Hoping I can start to enjoy the pregnancy now, rather than be in bed asleep all day with trips to the loo in between! How is everyone else feeling?

pixiedust21 · 12/03/2021 20:52

@cooper96 wow that must be an amazing feeling 😍 I can't wait for my scan, though nervous too!

Wonderful to see the little thing x

Ola85 · 12/03/2021 21:10

@cooper96 congratulations 🥳 it looks amazing! I can't wait to see mine in 5 days fingers crossed 🤞

Raggeo · 13/03/2021 07:59

Been off the thread for a few days as it's been a stressful time. On Tuesday I had some bleeding, more than just a bit of spotting. Waited until Wednesday thinking it would either stop or get worse but it stayed the same. Called midwife and EPU who said to monitor it. Phoned EPU again Thursday... Not worse bust hasn't stopped. Was sure I was going to lose the baby. They gave me a scan yesterday and we had prepared for the worst but there was a heartbeat and baby measured 7 weeks 1 day (exactly as it should). The relief!! No specific reason for bleeding. They said it might continue for another week or 2 but not to worry if it stays the same. Just need to try to relax.
We ended up telling my parents about the pregnancy so my mum could watch my son while we went for the scan. Wasn't how I imagined telling them, given the uncertainty, but now I think it's good to have told them early cause my mum is keen to take my son more and let me rest.
