So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

Aww lovely @rtz22! How far along are you? I've got an early scan booked for next Saturday and I'm nervous for it!

Jl2020 · 11/03/2021 19:35

Welcome @HappyVibesxo and congratulationsSmile

I hope you are all ok and coping with the nausea I'm still over here wishing for nausea.. crazy lol, other than slightly sore boobs and no period I really wouldn't know I was pregnant at all.
I still haven't heard back about a booking in appointment yet but I guess I don't need to worry about that just yet as only 7+1 maybe if I don't hear anything by the end of next week I'll chase it up. It's normally about 8 weeks you do that isn't it? X

Jl2020 · 11/03/2021 19:36

Aww congratulations @rtz22 glad the scan went well :)

HappyVibesxo · 11/03/2021 19:40

@rtz22 Awww, how lovely. Congratulations!

HappyVibesxo · 11/03/2021 19:44

@Jl2020 Thank you. My booking in appointment was at 10 weeks but I think anytime from 8 weeks onwards is 'normal'.
Having no symptoms is a good way to start your pregnancy, I'm in bed now having just put the kids to bed myself then thrown up! Lying here feeling like I've been reading a book in a moving car all day. So yucky! I have a theory that sickness and nausea = girl and smooth sailing few symptoms = boy! That's definitely what it was like with my two anyway! I'm sure girls are harder work right from conception Grin We won't be finding out this time but I'll bet my hat that it's a girl due to feeling so ill!

rtz22 · 11/03/2021 19:45

Thank you everyone!!! @mooloop 8w 2 days according to my LMP and this evenings scan 🙂 I was a bag of nerves and excitement but so special seeing it. Good luck on Saturday, I hope you'll be posting happy news here too ☺

Youllbeoldertoo · 11/03/2021 19:47

@HappyVibesxo I’ve had two boys and both times been sick at least 4 times a day. The sickness has already started for me and it’s horrible. Hope you’re not feeling too ill!

Jl2020 · 11/03/2021 19:52

@HappyVibesxo ah ok I won't worry about it for a few weeks then! Oh I feel for you, when I fell pregnant last year I had the worse sickness I was eating ginger biscuits and wearing travel
Sickness bands daily but this time round I think iv had one day of nausea and that's it. I hope it eases for you soon! I have also heard that theory about being more sick with girls but who knows lol. I just hope everything is ok 🤞🏼 really trying to hold off getting an early scan but as the days go on I get more tempted to book one x

2021WillBeGreat · 11/03/2021 20:29

@Jl2020 I got my booking in appointment as soon as I referred but no information on 12 week scan. Every area is a bit different, lots of people I know already have scan appointments and some spoke to a midwife on the phone before booking in appointment.

whitershadeofpale · 11/03/2021 20:37

@Ronnii I’m due on the 25th too 😊

I’m planning to tell my mum on Mother’s Day, she knew that I had a MC in November and had been, not very subtlety, digging to find out if I’m pregnant again.

We’re planning on telling in-laws at Easter but nobody else until after my 12 week scan.

Jl2020 · 11/03/2021 21:13

@2021WillBeGreat I'll wait and see if I hear anything in a few weeks :) I have heard different areas see you at different stages.

Only my partner and my mums knows about my pregnancy going to wait until the 12 week scan before I tell anyone else, even though it's so hard to keep it quiet x

MeltingSnowflake · 12/03/2021 09:09

Feel much less sick ystdy and today - hoping it doesn’t mean anything 😕 I have an early scan on Sunday so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I feel real anxiety at the moment - it feels separate from worry, if that makes sense and it’s a general feeling rather than focused on any one thing. Is anyone else getting this? My booking appointment is next week so I’ll tell the midwife, but it’s a horrid feeling.

Hope everyone else is doing well 😁

MF1981 · 12/03/2021 09:49

@MeltingSnowflake yes I’ve had that as well. I wouldn’t say I was worrying about any particular thing but just felt an overwhelming sense of anxiety. It was really bad at the weekend. I also told my midwife at my booking in appt and she said to just monitor it but she could refer me if I felt I needed some support. It’s been a bit better this week but still there.

pixiedust21 · 12/03/2021 10:10

Just had my telephone booking in appointment with the midwife - was pretty nervous for some reason but it was good. Very matter of fact and quite reassuring, she explained what blood tests I'll be getting done later today, I had concerns because of my BMI but again she was very matter of fact and just focused on the care I would get and encouraged me to keep staying healthy as I am doing at the moment.

All in all very good and I'll be getting a letter by 11 weeks for my scan (currently 9+3). Popping in to surgery later to get bloods done, weight and height (yuck) and urine sample. Lovely.

She did mention to me it might be worth trying to get a flu vaccine as it's still technically flu season so might be worth speaking to my surgery about that.

Cpr12 · 12/03/2021 11:00

Hi all, wanted to come in and join the chat 😊 I am 9 weeks tomorrow.

We are booked in for an early scan tomorrow too feeling apprehensive as I have had some severe pregnancy symptoms the last 3 weeks then they all just stopped on wednesday. It is great feeling good, but so worrying after being so ill!

Drumstick1223 · 12/03/2021 11:01

@pixiedust21 I'm glad your booking appointment went well, your midwife sounds lovely

pixiedust21 · 12/03/2021 11:21

@Drumstick1223 yeah she is so I feel really relieved for some reason, not sure what I was expecting Grin I've never really had any kind of medical issues at all and I've had health anxiety in the past so it feels a bit scary going into this new period of tests and check ups etc even if everything is fine. So we talked about that and she was just very reassuring. I think I forget that midwifes and health professionals literally do this every day and see so many women whereas obviously it feels like a big deal for me because it's the first time. Grin

Jl2020 · 12/03/2021 11:22

@pixiedust21 sounds like your booking appointment all went well, I'm glad :)

@Cpr12 welcome lovely and congratulations. I think from about 9 weeks symptoms can be less anyway as the placenta takes over? I could be wrong but im sure I have read that somewhere! Good luck for your scan!

Cpr12 · 12/03/2021 11:46

@jl2020 I actually had my booking appointment yesterday and she barely even took on what I was saying (in a good way, she clearly didnt view it as an issue) but I just think everything is a worry in pregnancy isnt it 🙈 looking forward to seeing my wee one tomorrow though, feel confident all is well (well at least faking it until I make it 😂😂)

Cpr12 · 12/03/2021 11:47

@jl2020 oh and congrats to you too 🥳

cravingmilkshake · 12/03/2021 11:55

Hi all, can I join?

I am 8 weeks 2 days and sickness has been horrendous. We went for a private scan last week and it was twins!

We are very excited and shocked. We have 19 month old who will be 2 years and 3 months when her siblings arrive!

Kona84 · 12/03/2021 11:58

Hi ladies just had my phone appointment with the midwife.
Questions about health, family history.
I’m vague on family history as I am not very close to my parents.
My bmi is 30 so she’s anticipating I’ll need to be tested for diabetes at 26 week 😟
Although my bmi is high I carry at least a stone of it on my chest and I exercise and ride my bike a lot so I don’t really think I will be a risk.

Got my next appointment for bloods on the 23rd.
Can’t wait to get my scan appointment through.

She was very understanding about my anxieties of losing last pregnancy at 8 weeks and said if any pain or blood to go to a&e rather than contact gp for referral.
I discussed my lack of symptoms and some days tender breasts but next day nothing and she said some women don’t get any symptoms and not to worry.

I’m 8+3 today.

Kona84 · 12/03/2021 11:59

@cravingmilkshake oh my, congratulations on twins.
3 under 3 will be interesting.

Ola85 · 12/03/2021 12:43

@cravingmilkshake & @Cpr12 welcome and congratulations 🥳 I

@cravingmilkshake wow 😳 I bet you're slicked! Have you got twins in family? Have you told anyone?

I went for a walk last night and woke up with a cold this morning 😭 if you add my symptoms to it I feel like a just got killed by a train. Total wreck! ☹️☹️☹️ Hope this won't hurt the baby though. I'm angry I went out in this weather but needed some fresh air ☹️

Drumstick1223 · 12/03/2021 12:51

@pixiedust21 that's good, I'm glad it was a positive experience. It always should be but you never know if you're just going to get "that" midwife that everyone talks about. Mine have always been lovely.
