So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

Aww congratulations to everybody having early scans! It's lovely to see positive stories. Praying my little bean sticks and is doing ok in there 🤞🏻🍀❤️

My nausea seems to have really ramped up the past few days. Luckily it's worst in the morning, seems to ease off in the afternoon and comes back in the evening - just glad it's not 24/7!

Ronnii · 06/03/2021 18:35

Nice to hear about the scans.

@poodlepip I'm not married and use dp (partner) or oh for other half.

I've taken his name tho lol

jellybean13419 · 06/03/2021 18:53

@mooloop mine is exactly the same as yours. You get this lovely respite in the afternoon and then feel rubbish again in the evening. Though for me, the evenings is caused by heartburn and indigestion. How many weeks along are you?

pixiedust21 · 06/03/2021 19:31

Thanks ladies for the support and wise words, I think I've been surprisingly calm about pregnancy so far - not worrying too much about this or that symptom - so it's like my brain has latched on to one thing to worry about!

When I spoke to the midwife on the phone she was lovely so I'm sure the appointments will be okay, and I know I'm doing all I can right now for the little bean so that's the main thing.

So nice to see people's scans. It's just so hard to visualise it in there, apparently this week it's the size of a raspberry which just blows my mind!! :)

mooloop · 06/03/2021 20:10

Omg same @jellybean13419, the heartburn is a killer! I'm feeling grateful I've not actually been sick (yet) at least, just felt it.

I'm not 100% sure exactly how far on I am as the apps differ, my cycles vary in length and I seem to ovulate quite late, but going strictly from LMP I'd be 6+6. I think probably a bit earlier than that because of usually ovulating late, but I have no idea how to adjust the dates for that Confused What about you?

jellybean13419 · 06/03/2021 20:29

@mooloop that's good that you've had the actual sick yet! Luckily, I only had about 2 weeks when the sickness and nausea was bad. Now it's receded into this mornings and then this heartburn in the evenings. Anything you've found to help either?
Got ya! Are you planning an early scan? I have irregular cycles. So my LMP would put me at 10 + 5 but when I went to my early scan they moved me back 3 days, now 10 + 1. We shall see what the dating scan says!

mooloop · 06/03/2021 21:46

@jellybean13419 I've been relying on sips of caffeine free coke and plain dry white toast 😂 I know people say to try ginger things but the thought of that turns my stomach. I've been on annual leave from work this week which has helped, so I'm nervous about how I'll handle it back at work from Monday 😩

Aww your dating scan must be really soon now, how exciting! I've booked an early scan for the 20th when I'll be 8+6 according to LMP but maybe more like 8w or something since I didn't ovulate until (I think) CD20. I'm so nervous for it but I don't think I can hack waiting another 5 weeks or so til my NHS scan, it's just such an anxious wait isn't it Sad it's so hard keeping it a secret too, only DH & I know so far and hoping to keep it that way until after the 12 week scan. Thank god for Mumsnet where we can all discuss and complain freely Grin

firstimemumma29 · 07/03/2021 08:23

Morning everyone - I'm 6+1 and I've just booked an early scan for the 19th of March where if my maths is right I'll be 7+6! I definitely couldn't wait until the 12 week mark. My symptoms haven't been too bad so far. Intermittent cramping, and mild nausea about half an hour after meal, however the one thing that is really bad is how sore my nipples are! I had small boobs pre pregnancy (32B) and since week 5 my boobs have felt almost swollen and I cannot touch my nipples without wincing. Does anyone have any cream recommendations to ease the discomfort or is anyone else going though similar? This is my first pregnancy so I have nothing to compare it to and only told my husband so even though he's great, he doesn't understand nipple pain 😂

mooloop · 07/03/2021 10:41

Hey @firstimemumma29 Smile I do get occasional sore boobs/nipples but not too bad so far.

My nausea seems to be getting worse daily 🤢 first time actually wretching over the toilet today rather than just feeling sick, although I still haven't actually been sick yet thankfully. I feel like I've got a really awful hangover, every little smell is setting me off 🤢

MF1981 · 07/03/2021 12:37

@mooloop I’m totally with you. When does this get better?! I can’t stand it! Nobody ever told me I would feel like absolute death during the first trimester.

AS1188 · 07/03/2021 13:10

Hi all

I'm around 6 weeks or so (not 100% sure!) And yesterday had period type cramps that got progressively worse throughout the day. They they woke me up in the middle of the night so I really started panicking! I still have them today but not as bad. From everything I've read these are very normal and I have no blood but I just can't help but worry and worry every time I go to the toilet about what I'll find. This is my first pregnancy after a cp last September. Has anyone else experienced this?

Captainpeaches · 07/03/2021 13:12

Hello, I am 7+2 with my first baby! I have called the docs and got my booking appointment in two weeks time but I wondered if I should hear from the midwife before then or if I should of been given her number? I have lots of questions 👀😂 Also I have 24/7 nausea from 6 weeks which I have booked a GP appointment about next week, I didn’t realise it would be this challenging!

8dpwoah · 07/03/2021 13:31

Hi @Captainpeaches that appointment is normally your first contact with the midwife as the NHS website covers the things you generally need to know to keep healthy up til that point, plus we might know on this thread as we've chatted about all sorts so far 😂

AnnaE89 · 07/03/2021 14:08

@mooloop I'm totally the same, just feel like I have the worst hangover and retching at every smell, although haven't actually been sick yet! I also can't stop eating 😂

whitershadeofpale · 07/03/2021 14:23

I’m with you @mooloop and @AnnaE89 lots of retching today and smells are really setting me off. The only thing that helps is eating which considering I could do with losing weight isn’t great. Mainly bland carby things like ginger biscuits, twiglets and dry hot cross buns.

jellybean13419 · 07/03/2021 14:39

@AS1188 I definitely had period type cramps weeks 5 and 6. After I was 7 weeks they faded away and I still don't have them now at 10 weeks. I do remember one time right at the start of week 5 the cramps woke me up too though. Totally know what you mean, I still toilet roll check every wee too!
@MF1981 with regards to when does it get easier. For me since starting week 10 the nausea has definitely got better and I've started actually feeling like food that isn't dry and beige now! Hang in there. I know how rubbish it feels 😣 the tiredness still hasn't eased up though!
@mooloop sorry the gagging has started for you today. In someways not actually being sick is worse. The hangover feeling is awful! My dating scan is on the 18th, not that I'm counter the days down or anything 😉 but 10 more to go! Xx

poodlepip · 07/03/2021 15:27

@whitershadeofpale absolutely with you I have been eating exactly that... Twiglets, ginger snaps and hot cross buns😆😆

And yes deffo to the cramps mine woke me up for a week before I realised I was preg about week 5-6 they were quite sore, constipation didn't help!!

Finally been able to eat a bit more fresh food now at 9 weeks phew!

Ronnii · 07/03/2021 17:10

Twiglets sounds like a nice idea. I dnt have any symptoms at the moment, just the food aversion and I bought things I can eat now so much better.

mooloop · 07/03/2021 17:51

@AS1188 I've been having cramps too, I googled it and it seems like it's normal Smile

pixiedust21 · 07/03/2021 18:03

I've still been having cramps most days, apparently it's just things stretching and you feel it more if it's your first.

I've been absolutely shattered the last few days, no real reason just exhausted so trying to take it easy as much as possible as well as get out for some fresh air and exercise.

AS1188 · 07/03/2021 18:43

Thank you @jellybean13419 @mooloop @pixiedust21 I know it's all I've been reading but today had some brown spotting so been in another stress. May call the EPU tomorrow but unlikely they'd see me? Not sure what to do as I have had spotting before and again, that's normal? I have an early scan next Saturday so hopefully will know more then! Such a stressful time!!

Mumnttc · 07/03/2021 18:43

I can't stop throwing up and I can barely get out of bed without heaving 😭 been waiting for a call back from the doctor all day. I'm so fed up with this and I'm only 9 weeks. I've not kept a meal down for the past 4 days. I've only eaten dry crackers today and I got up to the loo and was sick again. I'm meant to be going back to work tomorrow (I work in a school) but there's no way I can teach like this 😭😭 sorry I don't know what the point of my post is, I just needed to let it out and tell someone 😭😭

jellybean13419 · 07/03/2021 19:05

Ohhh @Mumnttc I'm so sorry it's hitting you so hard. Definitely doing the best thing with doctors. Sounds like you could have HG? My friend has it and has been in hospital on and off now for weeks. She's now on two different types of anti sickness meds that are working though. Def is help out there. Maybe try 111? 4 days is an awful long time to be suffering like that. Sending lots of love xxxx

jellybean13419 · 07/03/2021 19:09

@AS1188 def a good plan to phone. Or maybe your doctor if it carries on? They do say any spotting or bleeding should be checked. So worth a call! Though again, sorry to relay experiences, but around 6 weeks I had brown discharge and cramping, was obvs super panicked. At my early scan they told me I had a corpus luteum on my left ovary which turned into a cyst, which is most likely the source of the discharge. You just never know though and for reassurance, always worth a call to the doctor or EPU. Hope it stops overnight for you though xxxx

AS1188 · 07/03/2021 20:42

@jellybean13419 thank you, I think I will call tomorrow. There's so many conflicting things online - cramping is normal, brown discharge is normal vs. Cramping and brown spotting can be signs of miscarriage. Your mind just runs away with you. I hope they will agree to see me and not ask me to "wait and see". Fingers crossed!!
