So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

Thanks @MeltingSnowflake I didn’t realise there were so many groups for October babies!

cooper96 · 05/03/2021 16:06

This time next week I will be waiting to go to my early scan at 8 +5! We havent told anyone at all yet and hoping to tell family on Mother's day so we have bought scratch cards which say we're having a baby underneath! I think I've run away with it too much and hoping and praying everything is okay at the scan next week. For the past two weeks I've been asleep at 8pm every night I'm absolutely exhausted. Xx

Just had my booking appointment. Was told midwife could phone at any time in the next weeks so I was lucky that DH was just taking DS out a walk and I had peace to do it. So many questions! My DS wasn't born in the UK so I'm not familiar with the maternity system here. I'm sure I wasn't asked so many questions before😅 It was nice to speak to someone though and she was very reassuring and everything is low risk, despite me previous MC. Have an appointment for blood tests in a couple of weeks and then will be scanned in April sometime but no appointment for that yet. Nice to get things started.

Ola85 · 05/03/2021 17:22

@cooper96 we haven't told anyone yet, too 😀 good plan with the scratch cards 🤣

Ola85 · 05/03/2021 17:23

@Raggeo where was your first baby born?
Were there any questions the midwife asked you didn't know the answer for? X

whitershadeofpale · 05/03/2021 17:44

Well I think hormones have hit today as I’ve spent a fair amount of it sobbing on DP. No particular reason I just feel a bit anxious about things I think.

Ronnii · 05/03/2021 18:00

@Raggeo good to see the booking went well, did you have to know a lot about your partner family health, I'm wondering what I need to know about him in advance cos he might not be available at booking.

I've got the silent symptom of constipation, can't really remember when I last went lol

@cooper96 I also go to bed very early and sometimes nap on the sofa, dp thinks I'm so boring haha

Kona84 · 05/03/2021 18:16

@whitershadeofpale I cried yesterday because I couldn’t remember my pin to pay for the vet appointment. The secretary was impatient and I knew I could view it on the app but my mind went blank. I blocked my card trying to get it right. I ended up paying with a different card and then on the drive home they mentioned on the news that contactless has gone up to £100. That was it I started sobbing because I could have done contactless.
My partner really didn’t understand what the big deal was.

Ronnii · 05/03/2021 19:14

@Kona84 good to know about the £100 tho. I did pin for £46 today, next time!

pixiedust21 · 05/03/2021 20:11

I've been really hormonal and weepy today too, a bit up and down mood wise. Maybe just one of those days! Nothing really felt wrong but just felt out of sorts.

A bit nervous about my booking in appointment now, what sort of questions were they? Hopefully I'll know all the answers Grin

Raggeo · 05/03/2021 20:26

@Ola85 He was born in France. We were living there because of my husband's work. Will be interesting seeing the differences between here and there but mostly I'm looking forward to having all my appointments and conversations in English this time.
I knew most of the answers... Stuff about my medical history, husband's medical history, previous pregnancies, mental health. The family medical histories were more difficult but answered the best I could.

@ronnii there were some questions about the medical histories of my immediate family and my husband's immediate family. I didn't know all the details for his family... Do they have high blood pressure for example. The things I didn't know didn't seem to be important anyway, the midwife didn't mind and I couldn't really see how it was relevant. They might prefer you to do the appointment without your partner there. She asked at beginning if I was alone and then again later on. She asked a couple of questions about whether I felt safe at home, if I ever felt at risk from my husband and I think they want you to be alone when answering so you feel you can talk about it.

8dpwoah · 05/03/2021 20:29

I had my booking today and I've forgotten half the questions already 😂 if your DP isn't at hand when you do yours it would be good to ask him about any health concerns in his blood relatives, things like blood, heart, clotting problems, lung, inherited conditions, diabetes, oh what else... autoimmune, mental health, thyroid. I think that's what she asked me but it's that kind of stuff. And general Q's about your lifestyle, your work but nothing too taxing, they're just trying to build a picture and start to get to know you a bit I think, and pick up on any things to keep an eye on as you go along. Mine was really lovely, well they were last time too but I saw a different one each time whereas this time it will be this lady only all being well.

Oh for geriatrics club- she said over 40 now for a label, round here anyway 🎉 and I'm low risk at the moment despite my horrible last week and birth with DD as there was nothing from that to automatically consider for this one so it's a 'fresh start' kind of thing .

pixiedust21 · 05/03/2021 20:40

I don't know my own biological medical history as I was adopted so that'll be a short answer Grin will check with my husband about his family if he even knows!!

It's still in the back of my mind I'm going to be treated like crap because I'm overweight, I wanted to lose weight before getting pregnant but fell pregnant much faster than I thought. Just worried people will be horrible about it in appointments. I know a silly thing to worry about !!

Ronnii · 06/03/2021 07:35

Thanks for the info guys, and about being alone is interesting.

@pixiedust21 they shouldn't be horrible, just more about looking after you the best way. People of all shapes get pregnant

Rb486 · 06/03/2021 07:43

Hello ladies, I’m new here. it’s been so nice reading back through the thread. It’s so funny to read I’m not alone in my worries and we’re all thinking the same things. I’m 7+2, due 21/10. I had a mmc last April, my angel would have been due in October too. I feel like it’s meant to be but still can’t help but worry. My midwife has been so supportive and booked me for an early scan which I have on Monday. I have very minimal symptoms, sore boobs on and off, gas and bloating. Very minimal nausea a few days ago but I’m mainly hungry! Haha! Look forward to embarking on this journey with you all. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 9 months! Roll on October, or April I just want to get to 12 weeks- sure I’m not alone there either 🤩 have a nice Saturday!! Xx

8dpwoah · 06/03/2021 08:16

Welcome @Rb486 🙂

@pixiedust21 I know you won't relax about it til you've had the conversation yourself but honestly when you go to appointments and whatnot there are people of all shapes and sizes around, I always got the vibe that the midwives just want to do their best for whoever they are caring for. They do work out your BMI at booking but I would be amazed if there was any judgement, they just use it as clinical info to inform your care same as the other info. I have a bit of history that is awkward to talk about but we just covered it professionally and moved on to the next bit.

cooper96 · 06/03/2021 09:18

I'm booked in for an early scan on Friday but woke up with an urge to book another for this weekend 🙈 there are available slots at 15:30 today ( I'm 7+5 ). I just want to know if there's a baby with a hear beat as I'm having nightmares every night. Going to get a shower and decide what to do! Xx

Drumstick1223 · 06/03/2021 09:46

@pixiedust21 honestly I was the same last time, I was worried about how I would be treated or viewed, but everyone was so lovey, it was a non issue and they discussed the extra monitoring and glucose tests without judgement. Please don't worry about it. If anyone is cruel, please complain as that should absolutely not happen. Any conversations about my weight were very factual and kind. You'll be fine 💕

Drumstick1223 · 06/03/2021 09:48

I feel a bit funny this morning ladies, nausea is at bay, wee sore back but otherwise wouldn't feel any different. I know this happens and I've had a healthy scan so I need to cling to that. Just wish I could fast forward to the next scan x

cooper96 · 06/03/2021 16:06

So I caved in and got an early scan today!!!! Was spot on with my dates 7 weeks 5 days! Baby had a strong heart beat and is measuring at 14.4mm. We already had a scan booked in for next Friday but now we know everything is okay we might move it to around 12 weeks, who knows though might end up there again!!! So happy didn't have to have an internal also as I have a high bmi so spent endless hours searching and seemed I'd need an internal but it wasn't even mentioned!! Shouldn't of spent all morning shaving 🤣🤣🤣 xx

@cooper96 congrats on your scan! I had mine today measuring 6 + 4 and was surprised I didn't need internal either. Pictures were super clear and so was heartbeat. It's amazing to see the size difference with yours a week older than mine.

poodlepip · 06/03/2021 17:07

@cooper96 @2021WillBeGreat congrats on your scans. Looking good!
@Rb486 welcome bet you're excited for scan on Monday 🤞

@Drumstick1223 yeah totally agree symptoms on and off seem to be super unreliable signs. The chances are everything will be fine with heartbeat on the scan so keep busy and distracted. I hope time passes quicker than it has at the moment!

Such an emotional load this isn't it... Spoke to my other half today (ps what's the term on mumsnet when they aren't your husband... Not DH?!) to check in and he said he hasn't thought about it much... Lucky for him!!

pinkpig381 · 06/03/2021 17:11

Hi guys,
I had my early scan today, measuring 8 weeks!
Two weeks ago I had an internal and they said I'd need to come back in two weeks as they could only see the yolk sac and predicted I was 5 weeks, the sonographer today didn't seem impressed with them as she said they should have been able to see baby if I'm measuring 8 weeks today? Who knows!
Saw babies heartbeat and arm/leg buds which was lovely!
Hope you're all well x

jellybean13419 · 06/03/2021 17:23

Congratulations to all those who have had their early scans today! Lovely to hear good news. There is nothing quite like seeing that little bean appear on the screen in front of you 💕

Jl2020 · 06/03/2021 17:25
