So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

The sickness has started here in waves the last few days. As soon as I'd finished my breakfast it was a quick dash to be sick.

The sickness and nausea is much harder to manage this time round with a very curious 18 month old clambering to look at what mummy's doing in the bathroom!

sierraleona123 · 03/03/2021 14:32

Hey everyone! hope you're all keeping well. I heard from the midwife today which has given me the boost I needed I think! She's also dated me about 7 weeks which is 2 weeks further on than I thought...

This is probably a really generic silly question, but does anyone have any advice or experience on drinking fizzy drinks or coffee during pregnancy? I haven't touched either since I found out I am pregnant, but keen to find out if one every now and then for a 'boost' is really that bad, or if they should indeed be avoided.

Kona84 · 03/03/2021 14:34

I have cold and flu symptoms (had these for a few days but yesterday and today been pretty bad) my boobs aren’t as sore today but still tired.
I think my boobs weren’t as sore for a few days last week and then they got more tender again.

I have looked back through my app and my last pregnancy the bleeding started at 8+1 day so I am waiting for next Thursday when I will be 8+2 to reach a milestone.
Time is going so slow, I’m finding it hard to focus on my work too

Kona84 · 03/03/2021 14:36

@sierraleona123
300mg of caffeine per day is okay I have read this is 3 cups of coffee a day.
I had 1 coffee at the weekend and a cold can of pop yesterday.
I just wouldn’t hit the energy drinks

8dpwoah · 03/03/2021 14:40

Somebody did a thread on caffeine intake a few weeks back and they posted this calculator which I thought was cool www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/calculators-tools-resources/check-your-caffeine-intake-pregnancy

Although Expecting Better has a good section on it too and suggest a bit more (300mg?) is safe.

As for fizzy drinks I find they help with nausea so if I fancy one I have a little glass (not a caffeine based one very often as I still have my two cups of coffee a day!). Once the nausea subsides I prob will naturally cut right back as they don't contribute much to a healthy diet but if I fancy one it won't be a worry.

yellowspot · 03/03/2021 14:45

My midwife last time said the same as other poster, 300mg a day. I did cut cut down to one coffee a day last time and have this time too.

Sugar free sprite was my go to last time with nausea though so will probably be reaching for that soon

MeltingSnowflake · 03/03/2021 14:53

@8dpwoah that’s a really good resource- thank you!

poodlepip · 03/03/2021 18:01

Long afternoon at the clinic with all kinds of checks and seeing doctors but the bean looks good... Happy beating away around 8w2d. So that would be EDD 12 Oct but will see what dating scan says

Look at it's cool placenta 🙂!

MeltingSnowflake · 03/03/2021 18:44

Oh that’s amazing @poodlepip 🥳 Congratulations!!! Ahhhhh I love seeing a scan 🥰

pixiedust21 · 03/03/2021 18:55

Amazing seeing scans! Trying to hold out til 12 weeks for mine but I'm impatient 😂 also want to make sure everything is ok, as mentioned earlier not having loads of symptoms (well just no nausea but have sore boobs and occasional cramps) so fingers crossed it's all fine.

I've been having a small amount of fizzy drinks a day and definitely keeping under the 300mg a day so pretty sure that's okay. I need something other than water lol.

Ronnii · 03/03/2021 18:58

💗lovely @poodlepip

Ronnii · 03/03/2021 19:00

I'm with you @pixiedust21 I swing between thinking maybe nothing there to what if it's triplets! Ticking the days off until 12 weeks.

I've got my booking on Tuesday so looking forward to that

pixiedust21 · 03/03/2021 19:15

@Ronnii I haven't even thought of that, twins run in my DH's family as well Grin

That's good about the appointment - mine is a week on Friday so things are moving along sort of, just feels like a big slog of waiting at the moment.

Wish I could just look in there myself somehow to see what's going on 😂

Ola85 · 03/03/2021 19:36

@poodlepip what a lovely scan and baby! Happy for you 🥲

Jl2020 · 03/03/2021 19:36

Congratulations @poodlepip 💛

mooloop · 03/03/2021 20:21

Aww how lovely @poodlepip! Smile

I've got my booking in call on the 14th, face to face MW appointment on the 16th, early scan on the 20th and then NHS scan on the 12th April. Time feels like it's going soooo slowwwwly!

Anybody else feeling bloated? My usual work trousers are too tight already Blush😂

jellybean13419 · 03/03/2021 21:47

@poodlepip congratulations and a lovely scan photo of the bean too 💕 xxx

Ronnii · 04/03/2021 07:30

Yep I've been getting bloated, might be also my diet change as I've gone off most things I would usually eat

Drumstick1223 · 04/03/2021 08:38

Yes to feeling bloated, think I'm also constipated and just haven't realised haha.

My nausea has subsided a little today, which is welcome but of course sets me off panicking... I'm well versed in this to know symptoms come and go. But have also had a mmc so always that niggle in the back of my mind.

Got some lower back pain today which I think is just some stretching.

Hope everyone else is doing good x

TBay07 · 04/03/2021 09:05

Aww @poodlepip so exciting ❤️

Yeah I'm definitely feeling bloated @mooloop though I don't know how as the morning sickness has stopped me from eating as much and I've lots weight 🙈🤷🏼‍♀️

@Drumstick1223 I has nausea until 16 weeks last time just constant but this time it's coming in waves and already feels very different so it's also sending me into panic mode 🤦🏼‍♀️ but I just keep telling myself that every pregnancy is different...it also makes me feel like I might be having a girl this time round (I have a 22 month old little boy) who knows?!

So tempted to book an early scan, haven't even got a booking in appointment yet, waiting to hear back from the GP/antenatal team. I think I'll feel a bit better having some dates in the diary and something to look forward to xx

AmberellaM · 04/03/2021 09:05

First morning I’m actually feeling okay, I had an earlier breakfast but smaller so I think that’s helped.

Managing to drink water as well, it’s so annoying water makes me feel like rubbish!

@Drumstick1223 it’s a conundrum isn’t it?! Sick of feeling rubbish but then when it stops you can only worry!

Drumstick1223 · 04/03/2021 09:09

@TBay07 yes trying to remind myself that every pregnancy is different. And I can feel the nausea creeping in so be careful what I wish for in future lol. I managed to eat half a slice of toast but my appetite is totally away just now. I only got nausea last night from about 10 weeks (I'm 7ish), and it was in the evening when I had waited too long to have my dinner, the hunger was making me nauseous... weird. So maybe it's a boy for me, girl the last time, I was already wondering that as it feels very different this time but I'm also two years older so who knows lol.

@AmberellaM yep totally. A wee fresh morning feeling good sends me into panic mode. Just trying not to worry this time round but it's really hard isn't it.

rtz22 · 04/03/2021 09:10

Hello! New here, but following some of these threads to keep my anxiety at bay. It's lovely to read all your experiences, makes me feel sane. It's my first pregnancy and my emotions and anxiety are like a run away train. Covid restrictions here mean a reduced level of maternity care offered in the first trimester which is really feeding my anxiety. GPs aren't seeing anyone, so all I've had is a phone call and two positive tests.... according to my LMP, I'm 7 weeks 2 days. I booked a private scan for 8 weeks because I won't last until my first booking appointment at 12w. Equal measures nervous and excited :)

Kona84 · 04/03/2021 10:04

Hi ladies today I’m feeling a bit flat,
7weeks 2 days and yesterday and today boob soreness is 0% they are less full and I’m feeling like it’s a replay of last year.
Been googling and I’ve read that symptoms come and go, and for 10 mins I’m reassured then that sinking feeling comes back.

sierraleona123 · 04/03/2021 10:07

Thank you @8dpwoah that link is really helpful!

Congratulations @poodlepip that's lovely!
