So this may be a little early to even start a thread. I got a positive digital test at 3 weeks 5 days. Today I am 4 weeks. From the date of my last period (11th January), my due date would be 18th October 2021 I know it's very early days and anything (literally) can happen but I was hoping to find like minded people!

When do people generally contact their GP?

@WiltshireSteph welcome and huge congratulations! How long did you ttc? Have told the family and work?
Sorry to hear about the sickness. In my first pregnancy I was sick everyday for 9 months - I carried my toothbrush in my pocket everywhere I went! This time I'm yet to experience this horrible feeling! Take care of yourself x

Upupupintheair · 24/02/2021 07:15

Hi everyone - can I join?! I got my BFP this morning with an estimated due date of the 31st October 🎃 ... so just sneaking into this group! I’m 28, first baby and first month of trying - can’t quite believe it! Haven’t even told my DH as he’s away last night. I’ll tell him this evening. Eeek!

WiltshireSteph · 24/02/2021 07:55

@Ola85 thanks and a massive congratulations to everyone else too! We were so lucky, I fell pregnant in the first month of trying. We couldn't beleive it and still can't really!
When reading the thread it really struck me how many posts mentioned having mc's before. These first 12 weeks are so nerve racking! But come on ladies we can do this. Day by day, week by week, we will get there Smile
@Upupupintheair welcome! Congratulations and I bet you are bursting to tell you BH!
Me and partner were supposed to get married last year, and when we went back into lockdown in January, we thought bugger it let's start trying and see what happens. So many of my friends have taken months and years to fall pregnant, and then it works first time for us! Over the moon and feeling so blessed. We are now hastily planning to elope to cornwal in April Smile. Hopefully wont be too big by then!

jellybean13419 · 24/02/2021 08:42

@WiltshireSteph I am so relieved to here of someone else who's has had the Covid wedding fiasco! We rescheduled to July this year, luckily this can go ahead. But also like you, it happened first month for us when I expected it to take an age as I don't ovulate regularly. Also completely ecstatic and happy. I will be rather pregnant by 10th July, but we don't want to move the date and have decided to just go with it 🤪 am I mad?! Eloping in Cornwall sounds like a fabulous idea!

Garman · 24/02/2021 08:45

Hi everyone, joining in here, EDD October 30th, our wedding anniversary! Have 2dc, had a mmc in December which was a surprise pregnancy, decided to not try/not prevent after it and here we are. Taking it one day at a time after the mmc which was at 10 weeks but had stopped growing at 6/7 weeks.

Haven't told anyone since I found out a week ago at 8dpo, not even DH! Mmc really changed the experience for me.

poodlepip · 24/02/2021 09:26

@Garman oh wow. Sorry to hear about your MMC. Can I ask about not telling your DH? Do you find you don't want to cause worry, or you are trying not to think about it?
I had a mc in the past and found it so hard not telling anyone including my ex husband (things were v different then, now pregnant with new partner). But it really traumatised me consuming all the worry myself so this time I have told close friends and mum for support. I know everyone is different

poodlepip · 24/02/2021 09:28

Big up the over 34 and first time trying peeps! I am too in this group. Didn't even think of doing a test for 2 weeks having had a day of spotting and abdo pain was so surprised it was positive!

Also I dreamt about MC last night too, had to get up in the night to check

Ola85 · 24/02/2021 09:54

@Upupupintheair and @Garman welcome to the group 😍 and congratulations 🎉

Are you all planning on finding out sex? We decided not to find out this time to make things even more exciting 😁

Garman · 24/02/2021 10:11

@poodlepip at first I didn't tell him in case it was a chemical soon after positive test which has happened me before. He'll worry every time I go to the bathroom or so much as wince with a random ear itch or anything! And I don't want to think about it much for now. Last time we had a scan at 6+5 like our other two times and all was fine, I told my mum and closest friend at 8 weeks and it haunts me like a sick joke that by the time I told them it was already dead, makes me feel very stupid!

We won't find out the sex if this one works out, found out on our first but then had a very traumatic drawn out birth and the surprise would've been nice then, so we didn't find out with our second.

WiltshireSteph · 24/02/2021 10:11

@jellybean13419 I know how frustrating it must have been to move your wedding to this year but glad to hear it can still go ahead. We moved ours to 29th May thinking COVID will be long gone by then! Never mind Smile
A July wedding will be lovely and to get everyone together with no restrictions is going to be amazing!
@Ola85 me and my partner are quite keen to find out the sex as we like to plan and think of names.
I took a leaf out of everyones book and have booked a private scan this Friday! they had appointments tomorrow even! if only we could all have private healthcare Smile

WiltshireSteph · 24/02/2021 10:13

@Garman your experience sounds so horrible, well done you for trying again! These early weeks are so terrifying, constantly worrying about every cramp, or lack of symptom!

Garman · 24/02/2021 10:20

We had given up on having any more after my experiences with my first birth which resulted in ptsd and the subsequent treatment in my second pregnancy, but I always wanted a third.

When I found out about the last pregnancy I immediately had meetings with the head of midwifery and a personal midwife to confirm a different better path of treatment and experience to avoid the previous trauma. So before the mmc all that work and panic was done, ttc again didn't seem too bad! I was very sick from the start with the mmc pregnancy and it didn't mean a thing so am not reading into lack of symptoms this time at all!

Kona84 · 24/02/2021 10:23

I’m 36 and soon to be 37. So I am in the geriatric club too.
Do we not get bonus scans?

pixiedust21 · 24/02/2021 10:30

I never actually thought about being classed as older, I'm 34 but will be 35 at due date. Great Hmm haha.

Picked up an info pack from my GP reception yesterday and filled in a form, was told to ring number in pack to book first midwife appointment. Rang them this morning and was told no I don't need to ring, the midwife will contact me when they are at the surgery to book me in! What a faff.

Whilst I'm really glad not to be having sickness I don't seem to have many symptoms but trying not to worry too much. I think I do need a new bra though as already uncomfy and spilling out of my current one!! (As if they're not already big enough, genuinely worried about suffocating the baby while feeding Grin)

Hope everyone continues to stay ok xx

poodlepip · 24/02/2021 10:34

@Garman that sounds all very tough and upsetting, not stupid to have told them at all though, it is a loss. Well done for keeping going. I am telling my close friends so they can support me if I do have a mc as much as anything but I know a lot of women prefer not to.
Also that's what these threads and communities are good for- anonymous and judgement free support Smile

Found a prenatal scan place new on my road?! It does a bundle for £250 for scans and bloods throughout...eek. Guess see what the next few weeks bring first

WiltshireSteph · 24/02/2021 10:36

I think you do get more scans later on and possibly also for being a first timer as well Hmm

WiltshireSteph · 24/02/2021 10:39

has anyone been brave enough to watch one born every minute??? I know its really early days but I couldn't help myself, I am excited and daunted by the prospect of what is, hopefully, to come

Garman · 24/02/2021 10:39

Where I am you definitely don't get more scans for being a first timer or under 40 or high risk, but I'm not in UK.

If I have another miscarriage I'll tell DH, mum and my closest friend immediately for support, but for now it's easier for me to just keep it to myself, especially as I'm not sick. If I was sick like last time I'd find it very difficult to hide it.

Garman · 24/02/2021 10:41

Sorry I didn't mean to include high risk there, I meant you get extra scans only for things like that or over 40 here etc. Replying while supervising online school and clearly not concentrating!

MeltingSnowflake · 24/02/2021 11:02

Does anyone else get annoyed at being told how to feel? If I bring up any concerns, people say I should just relax and enjoy it, but if I mention anything about the future, they say I shouldn't get excited! Confused

@Garman that must have been incredibly hard, I'm so so sorry 💐 I'm so worried about MMC, even more so than MC, which is weird and doesn't make much sense.

@poodlepip forgot to add, not only am I ancient but it was also our first month of trying for our first! 😁

Cunnyfunt77 · 24/02/2021 11:55

Hey ladies just found this thread and wondered if I could join? I'm currently 5+6 and due the 21st of October going by LMP but I was also breastfeeding so periods haven't been the best to go byConfused I have 2DC already so will be our 3rd DC, although we very much planned to have a third 2DC is only14 months so has happened earlier than anticipated! But what's for u and all that Grin .

Mumnttc · 24/02/2021 12:13

@ola85 I have a scan on Saturday and I'll be 7+3 so very similar to you!

I've got horrendous sickness, can't keep anything down at the moment. Luckily WFH but they are aware as I'm a TA at school so will be back soon! Doctor is calling this afternoon to discuss antisickness.

I just want to sleep all day 😩

Ola85 · 24/02/2021 12:26

@Mumnttc Please let me know how the scan how what the baby looks like at this stage. I literally can't wait to see the little peanut!
Sorry to hear you're so sick 😷 let's hope the medication will help you! X

8dpwoah · 24/02/2021 12:29

I wish the geriatric club meant that we get auto bonus scans but as far as I know in UK it's 12 and 20 weeks only no matter what unless there are problems (I had one for reduced movements and then another for reduced growth last time) or if you get put on consultant led care. Apparently I might end up consultant led this time as I had those problems last time (and a bit of a nightmare birth story but I won't go into detail here plus it wasn't bad enough to put us off having another go 😂) which I was surprised about but we shall see. I know some areas were trialling 36 week scans but I don't think that's widespread yet.

The main comment at my 40 week scan was how much hair DD had 😂

Mumnttc · 24/02/2021 12:29

@ola85 I'll post a picture for you 😊
