Thanks all. I've mentioned before I work in our hospital. There is a policy about seeing them in the car seat and safe onward travel. No coats in car seats etc... but nothing on 360s. I'll ask a midwife.
I'm also quite snotty, a morning steamy shower then nose blow helps and often have nose bleeds and bloody snot anyway. I find 12 hours of masks makes it worse too!

BlondePotter · 14/03/2021 21:17

Hi everyone, hope you've had a good day! I had my glucose test this morning, fun for a Sunday 😆 the orange drink wasn't as bad as I expected but it was so thick! They did my 28 week.bloods at the same time so at least that's one less blood test - 28 weeks tomorrow!

TerryRose · 14/03/2021 22:14

@BlondePotter that's super to hear ! I haven't heard anything about when I'll get true glucose test, my next hospital appointment isn't until
33 weeks , I'm going to my own GP on Tuesday as I haven't been seen since 21 weeks (26 weeks at the moment ) and I've been told my some people that not all hospitals in Ireland so the glucose test, some only do it if there's a history of diabetes in your family , it's a bit mad how it differs from hospital to hospital 🙈

BlondePotter · 14/03/2021 22:23

@TerryRose we get it if immediate family history, or if you're BMI is in the obese range at conception which mine was. Otherwise you probably wouldn't be tested unless they saw glucose in your urine samples!

TerryRose · 15/03/2021 15:02

@BlondePotter ah ok! Thank you , I had just assumed it was standard 😊

Nesski · 15/03/2021 17:10

And also Asians get it too as we are more susceptable, me and my girlfriends (the Asian ones) automatically had to get it done. Mine was raspberry syrup which I chugged, had 5 mins of nausea and hot flushes kick in about 15 minutes after.

PinkPlantCase · 15/03/2021 17:18

I had my 28 week check today. There was glucose in my urine but the midwife put that down to the cake I had before she came Grin we’ve agreed that next time I’ll keep off the sugary treats before she comes so they can get a more accurate result.

I don’t have any other risk factors or symptoms of diabetes so there’s been no talk of a glucose test just yet.

Crazybirdlady · 15/03/2021 18:18

Standard for everyone over 30 in my hospital, and my friend had hers done recently in Holles St as she's over 30..

ChasingARainbow · 15/03/2021 21:10

Had my 28 week appointment with the consultant and growth scan today (currently 27+4), baby has gone from 50th centile to 97th centile. My diabetes screen at 25 weeks came back clear but they are worried I might have gestational diabetes to account for the growth so had to have another blood test today.
My booking in BMI was 37 and to after putting about 7lbs on it just over 40 so the advised me to start a blood thinning injection daily from 28 weeks.
Really hoping I haven't got gestational diabetes so hoping the results come back quickly.
Hope everyone else is getting on ok x

BlondePotter · 15/03/2021 21:21

@ChasingARainbow hopefully not diabetes if your previous test was clear. I had my test yesterday and they said I'd find out by end of day tomorrow if I have it.

AlRRRR · 16/03/2021 06:48

@Crazybirdlady Is that over age 30 or over BMI 30? Nobody has mentioned this to me, my BMI is 25 I think, and I’m 34 :)

MelissaAnn92 · 16/03/2021 08:39

Just catching up and strangely
Enough I'm at my glucose tolerance test now Smile straight to work after but food immediately ha ha I'm bloody starving xx

Lovethatjourneyforme · 16/03/2021 09:20

I'm at my GD test the moment, currently sat in my car with and hour and a half to kill before my 2nd blood test.
Had my first bump measurement whilst here, apparently they're 'slightly on the larger side'. Didn't think to ask what percentile at the time (my mind always goes utterly blank when they say 'any questions?') but will have a look at my notes when I get them back.

Waitingforbabypage · 16/03/2021 11:34

I had a glucose blood test a while back, I was about 11 weeks (not one with the drink though) and it came back as normal levels, then I had another test just after my 20 week scan, still normal, I had some more bloods done today- she said it was just the normal screening bloods, checking iron levels etc but while the needle was in there she said oh I may as well do another glucose test.
It's like they're so surprised I don't have GD!!!
I'm 35 and my bmi is 35 but I've always been this size and have never had GD.
Oh well, best to be safe I guess.

Has anyone else's bump just suddenly popped right up?? I'm now at the stage where I don't look too preggers from the front but from the side? BOOM!! 😂😂😂
Let's see your bumps ladies! X

Waitingforbabypage · 16/03/2021 11:35

Please excuse my mucky mirror, me and the other half always leave messages in the steam for one another so there's always smudges 🥰😂

AlRRRR · 16/03/2021 12:10

@Waitingforbabypage Wow! How many weeks are you? :)

TerryRose · 16/03/2021 13:07

Thanks for all your info re glucose test ! Interesting how it varies hospital to hospital it seems!

TerryRose · 16/03/2021 13:08

@Waitingforbabypage that is an amazing bump!! 😍😍❤️❤️❤️ there's no hiding mine either no matter what I wear it's crazy to think it will get bigger 🤣 I'm 27 weeks today

Waitingforbabypage · 16/03/2021 13:36
@Waitingforbabypage Wow! How many weeks are you? :)
28+1 today. It must have been a big bump day on Saturday when I took the picture because she's not that big today 😂

Has anyone else's fatigue hit again? I'm kinda fed up of not having the energy to do stuff, spd/pgp isn't helping.

TerryRose · 16/03/2021 15:00

Just went to see the nurse at my own GP clinic and she said I should have been going every two weeks 🙈 I was last seen at the hospital at 21 weeks and the next hospital appointment is 33 weeks but thankfully all is good with measurements etc my blood pressure is slightly raised so I'll go back Friday and have more bloods taken and get the whooping cough and they will check iron as well, she was so nice as I felt quite silly about it but there has been a real lack of guidance on what I was supposed to do 🙈

I've just been told the NCT course I had signed up to is moving online - I'm feeling quite gutted as the main reason was to go and meet some other parents. I've recently heard that the course content is actually not that great - and I'm just worried that the virtual sessions will just be a bit awkward, especially for the cost of it!

Has anyone else got any experience of it? Or any other better virtual classes to take?

Crazybirdlady · 16/03/2021 19:04

@Airrrr age over 30, my bmi is 21 pre pregnancy and the other two ladies I know who has glucose test done recently were the same. I'm nearly sure it said on the leaflet they gave us that it's standard for women over 30! What hospital are you with?

AlRRRR · 16/03/2021 21:11

@Crazybirdlady I’m in West Yorkshire and I was last time too, and didn’t have it done :)

BlondePotter · 16/03/2021 23:00

@Crazybirdlady I'm in hampshire and it's not standard for over 30s here, just the high BMI, Asian, glucose in urine x
