@Fishingforhappiness who said you have to bring a car seat in and show a midwife and is this a new rule?

We just held baby on way home as we were in a taxi and did not have a baby newborn seat, mine was a 0-18 months and fixed into my car (attached to base) and my husband could not drive.

This was 2017, and no body even asked anything, I just said bye and took the taxi

AlRRRR · 11/03/2021 16:48

Sorry 0-36 months Cybex Sirona*

LittleMimi · 11/03/2021 18:55

@Fishingforhappiness

So car seats... I know you have to bring them in so the midwife can see the baby in it before you leave hospital. Mines just arrived - Maxi Cosi 360... its fixed in the car... I won't be able to take it in and show them... surely I can't be the only one. What do they do?
I think it depends on the hospital but I think they just want to check you’re not doing something reckless. They can’t hold you at the hospital for not bringing in a car seat. I’d just take a photo of it on your phone in case anyone asks.
Waitingforbabypage · 11/03/2021 21:44

Not sure on the car seat front- I know a couple of people who used their pushchair to take baby to the car and then transferred to a car seat as it was fixed in the car.
My last baby was 8 years ago and we took the car seat in with us but I don't ever recall the midwife being fussed about checking for it.

No new stretch marks here just yet. I had a decent amount from my first, no new ones with my second so I'm hoping this one is kind to me too- mine are all faded and silvery so you can hardly see them now.

TerryRose · 12/03/2021 15:23

My hospital won't be looking at the car seat, I think once you buy a safe and recommended brand and get some advice on it you can't go too far wrong 😊

Anyone else heading into week 27? Wall of tiredness hit me today but in good news I finally have some sort of an appetite back , hope it lasts !

Have you noticed any movement /kicking patterns yet ? I downloaded an app called Kicks Count but I don't always remember to record but I do find it handy for those nights where I panic thinking did she kick as often today etc

AlRRRR · 13/03/2021 06:34

@TerryRose I’m 25 weeks and there still isn’t a pattern to kicks etc, I tend to only feel them if I’m sat down or laid down, hardly at all during the day when I’m moving about, I have a front placenta :) I do however have that wall of tiredness and my breathing seems a little harder, I do however have a little cold,(my 4 yr old is in nursery and my mum who is my bubble also has a stinking cold!)

AlRRRR · 13/03/2021 06:35

I wanted to ask if anyone else has bloody snot when they blow their nose? I get this once in the mornings, when I blow 1st thing. I’ve read that pregnancy can cause nose bleeds etc, but can’t find much about bloody snot.

Nesski · 13/03/2021 06:38

@TerryRose can't really say if there is a pattern yet, I'm just getting beaten up right now (I think he's jumping, so diaphragm and exit are being simultaneously kicked and headbutted), it's been constant the last couple of days.

I was but by a wall of tiredness yesterday, asleep at 10.30...

swiftt · 13/03/2021 07:42

@TerryRose I’m 27+2 and starting to notice a pattern in movements now, and really aware of when she’s quieter than usual. The exhaustion is real this week too, it feels like the first trimester all over again!

@AlRRRR yup, I’ve had a really bloody nose for ages. Apparently it’s normal!

@AlRRRR sorry, when I say bloody nose I mean the same as you as in bloody snot, not nose bleeds.

@swiftt Oh what a relief!! I have had issues with sinuses for a year on and off and had a camera up there last month and now doing nasal washouts to clear it all and keep it going haha! But just wanted to check with all that aside, that you can have bloody snot when blowing nose as a normal pregnant woman 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂

Mackie2020 · 13/03/2021 08:43

@AlRRRR yep to the bloody snot too. I also feel hayfever-y at the moment. Very fizzy sinuses.

AlRRRR · 13/03/2021 08:57

@Mackie2020 Oh yes, mine are fizzing!!!! and popping hahahah, and full ears and lots of sneezing! I feel better now then!

PinkPlantCase · 13/03/2021 10:11

@TerryRose I’m 27+4 and and definitely starting to feel quite tired again. I do have regular patterns of movement eg. I could give you babies active times. This might sound really bad but I don’t plan on counting kicks, I have active days and less active days and don’t see why baby would be any different. If there was a big difference in how active baby was then I’d get help but I don’t want counting kicks to become a thing to stress about.

@AlRRRR I had bloody snot before I was pregnant, pretty normal think. Especially in the morning anyway. Interestingly I used to get nose bleeds when I was on my period too. Not sure what that’s about Grin

AlRRRR · 13/03/2021 10:13

@PinkPlantCase Yes mine is always in the morning, first blow 🤣🤣🤣 Then I do the nasal rinses and feels so goooooood, :)

Sitchervice · 13/03/2021 10:35

3rd trimester guys...

TerryRose · 13/03/2021 12:35

@Sitchervice ah so exciting !!! ❤️❤️❤️ June feels so close

TerryRose · 13/03/2021 12:38

@swiftt @AlRRRR yes the exhaustion is real and I feel like I'll just more tired as time goes on but as long as baby alright don't care 😊 yup I've had both, I've had a few nose bleeds and also bloody snots, I'm all stuffed up late at night and in the morning no matter what I try so think it's just part of it , I had really bad sinus problems as a child and try to avoid too much dairy and white bread but I don't think anything will make a difference as apparently it's very common in pregnancy so wouldn't worry at all 😊

Opticabbage · 13/03/2021 13:09

@Fishingforhappiness Our hospital asked us to wheel our baby out to the car in one of their clear cot things. It was probably a lot bumpier than carrying the poor thing, but it seemed to satisfy them!

AlRRRR · 13/03/2021 13:26

@Opticabbage when was this? Ours didn’t even ask anything in 2017, just said bye to us in our room 🤣🤣🤣 But yes, I would choose to carry over the wheely thing for sure

AlRRRR · 13/03/2021 13:28

@TerryRose Yes, I’m mainly vegan (maybe once a month I eat feta and some dairy chocolate) and eat wholefoods etc anyway, but when I did eat a lot of dairy I found it was made worse!

Opticabbage · 13/03/2021 16:46

It was 2018. I don't think they would have stopped us if we'd just carried him out. I think because we asked, they felt they had to suggest something Grin I wouldn't ask again!

AlRRRR · 13/03/2021 17:13

@Opticabbage ohhh 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 okay!

Lovethatjourneyforme · 13/03/2021 20:20

I don't have much of a pattern, stopped trying to find one to be honest because they seem to switch it up every 3-4 days anyway!
@PinkPlantCase I'm not planning on counting kicks either, my midwife said that some babies alternate between active and lazier days, some are random, and for them that is their 'pattern'. So I don't wanna get too caught up on it, will just stress me out!

If I get worried I just eat something sugary and lie down for a bit and they always jump into action soon after 😊

Third trimester from this coming Tuesday, the final stretch!!! Pun intended 😂
