@Firsttimeconcerns have you asked your midwife? Ours have created a series of YouTube videos :)

Firsttimeconcerns · 15/02/2021 21:01

@Snally82 thank you for replying. We have three videos provided but none discuss post birth baby care 🤷🏻‍♀️

PinkPlantCase · 15/02/2021 22:23

@Firsttimeconcerns is it birth specifically you want to know more about?

We’ve booked into NCT but equally I’ve learnt so much from books in the last few months. Also moved onto podcasts and watching some births on YouTube.

PinkPlantCase · 15/02/2021 22:24

Sorry, just re-read your post. I’m guessing books are still your friend for pair birth baby care if you don’t want to shell out for NCT

Fishingforhappiness · 15/02/2021 23:02

@Firsttimeconcerns we are using the honest midwife - you can find her on insta. First class is free too. Find her really approachable

Scarftown · 15/02/2021 23:04

@Firsttimeconcerns if it’s the first few weeks baby care I did an enjoyable free couple of hours with the baby academy. It covered things like bathing. Nappies. Dressing. Safe sleep etc. I don’t think the website had Marches dates added the other day but definitely worth keeping an eye out.

Sitchervice · 16/02/2021 07:46

@Firsttimeconcerns I have no clue. And our hospital is just handing out leaflets. Which is no good for me :/

Firsttimeconcerns · 16/02/2021 09:41

Thank you. I will look at those recommendations. I have read 'practical ways to make your birth better' by Siobhan Miller which I found to be so useful. I feel very informed on actual birth but as I said it's the post birth bits like changing nappies, feeding, bathing, baby first aid etc. that I'm not feeling too confident about! Thank you all Smile

curiouscat1987 · 16/02/2021 11:30

Theres a baby toddler event on at aldi for anyone who's interested, online too :)

Sitchervice · 16/02/2021 21:48

@Firsttimeconcerns I get what your saying. I feel so helpless! Even if mother in law is a Nanny she dosnt really like me.

But I found this on mumsnet!

Penny2020 · 17/02/2021 10:27

@Firsttimeconcerns we’ve signed up to NCT, though sadly just heard it’s going virtual (stupid Covid)!
I’m also reading ‘what to expect: the first year’. It’s a brick of a book but I’m finding it soooo helpful. I’m reading it now and then highlighting the bits I’ll need to read again just before the birth. I’m not usually very organised but it’s really putting my mind at ease as I haven’t a clue what I’m doing!

Firsttimeconcerns · 17/02/2021 17:58

Thank you all for your recommendations and suggestions 🥰

maloney123 · 17/02/2021 18:54

I’m reading first time parent by Lucy Atkins. It’s really easy to read, not too much info and I’m enjoying it!

TerryRose · 17/02/2021 23:48

Just wondering if and when you got your whooping cough vaccine ?

Nesski · 18/02/2021 02:26

@TerryRose at the hospital during my 20 week scan!

PinkPlantCase · 18/02/2021 07:56

@TerryRose at my GP at around 23 weeks, they rang me to book it in

PinkPlantCase · 18/02/2021 08:04

Sounds like a game of Cluedo Grin Grin

BlondePotter · 18/02/2021 08:20

@TerryRose at the hospital at 20 week scan too, they were trying to reduce the number of times visiting for appts

Sitchervice · 18/02/2021 08:27

I keep feeling what feels like a muscle twitch in my bump. I'm not sure if it is a muscle twitch or my boy. O.o

Scarftown · 18/02/2021 09:06

@Sitchervice. That’s your baby!

lucieloos · 18/02/2021 09:07

@TerryRose at gp around 17-18 weeks. My midwife told me to book it in.

Sitchervice · 18/02/2021 09:24

@Scarftown really!! I hope so! So new to this 🙃

Nesski · 18/02/2021 09:50

@Sitchervice it's the baby! I get them too, but it's starting to become more regular!!!

Nesski · 18/02/2021 09:51

Does anybody feel like the next midwife after your 20 week scan is so far away?? The weeks are flying by though...

Scarftown · 18/02/2021 09:51

Yeah that’s what mine feels like. I never got the bubbles popping. The first thing I noticed was twitches. Like how my eye twitches when I am tired but sporadically and not in the same place every time. I now have those and more an uncomfortable feeling on one side that’s just like a pressure ache. When I feel the twitches on the other side of my belly that pressure disappears so I assume that’s also baby moving. I’m 23 weeks now but I didn’t feel anything before 21. Well I didn’t notice the more gentle flutters or bubbles or how anyone else has described it but I do carry a little extra weight on my stomach.
