He's probably been kicking the whole time but I've been like a gas bomb so couldn't tell the difference 😅
I'm so happy it's him.

ChasingARainbow · 18/02/2021 19:24

How's everyone doing with work, have you had risk assessments and do you plan to work from home from 28 weeks of working in risky areas?
I'very had an initial risk assessment at 13 weeks and meeting with my manager again tomorrow- I work in a fairly high risk area so hope they are still supporting working from home from 28 weeks x

Snally82 · 18/02/2021 19:40

@ChasingARainbow I’ve had one but I’m WFH due to COVID anyway so really not much to report! If the office reopens before I go on maternity I may ask to continue from home and only go in for urgent meetings. Although I think in the third trimester people we’re being advised to stay at home... haven’t checked for a while

Humpty11 · 18/02/2021 20:06

@ChasingARainbow I’m a nurse and will be non patient facing from 28 weeks. I need to meet with my manager once I have my mat B1 so will double check if that’ll be in the hospital or from home. I think the advice is much more vague than it was in the first wave!

Happy2be · 18/02/2021 20:29

@ChasingARainbow another nurse here and ill be on paid leave from 28 weeks.

ChasingARainbow · 18/02/2021 20:49

@Snally82 @Humpty11 @Happy2be
Have been having a look tonight and it looks like the guidance is still shielding from 28 weeks so hopefully I can get that arranged tomorrow as I'll be 28 weeks in only 4 weeks. It's absolutely flying by!
We're still trying to hold off buying the pram and furniture in the hope we can get to the shops to see things in person but depending on what boris says on Monday might just have to bite the bullet and start ordering the big things.

Happy2be · 18/02/2021 20:54

@ChasingARainbow fingers crossed for you. I had seen some people had been redeployed at 28weeks to non patient facing at some hospitals but ive been lucky that we are just off 🙈 i keep thinking it will be my luck that they change it by 27 weeks 🤣🤣

Waitingforbabypage · 18/02/2021 21:52

I work in retail, there's no option for me to work from home, I'm either customer facing or I'm off- I haven't a clue what I'm actually "allowed" to do.

ChasingARainbow · 18/02/2021 22:15

@Waitingforbabypage just found something the government website saying any employees after 28 weeks who can not continue in a role and maintain social distancing should be on paid suspension. Have you had a risk assessment? If they haven't mentioned what you're going to do at 28 weeks it might be worth asking for one or an update if you initially had one x

Waitingforbabypage · 18/02/2021 22:57

@ChasingARainbow I've only had the initial health and safety assessment which took me completely off stock room duties (heavy boxes and ladders)
Before this lockdown I was told to stay behind the till so there was a decent distance between myself and the customer but then all of the various targets (getting add on sales, making sure they were getting the best deal, signing them up to the loyalty card etc) ultimately fell to me causing soooo much stress over Christmas that I had to refuse to go in to work one day. But there's no plexiglass, I'm only allowed to wear a mask and I'm still having to handle products and money.

Part of me isn't phased about potentially going back to work....but the bigger part of me is obviously very aware that it's not only my safety I'm looking out for but I have to keep my baby safe too. I would never forgive myself or the company if anything happened to her.

@PinkPlantCase @Nesski @BlondePotter @lucieloos

Thanks ladies , they don't do the vaccines here in the hospital and I haven't heard from my GP, I had actually kinda forgotten about it and no one has mentioned it since I got the flu vaccine back in first trimester 🙈 I'm not sure if this is normal procedure or because of covid but beginning to feel a bit forgotten about but I suppose it's on me to keep track 🤷‍♀️

lucieloos · 19/02/2021 20:38

@TerryRose I had to ring my gp and ask to book it in I'm not sure they if they would contact you about it.

AlRRRR · 20/02/2021 07:35

My GP asked me to ring and book in with the nurse, which I forgot to do!

Is anyone still got the nasal congestion ? Sometimes on a morning when I blow, there is a bit if blood in it.

I rang GP yday and I’m having to do nasal wash outs for a month as been having issues with sinuses etc since last April when I had bad sinusitis for a month 🤮🤮.

Wondered if anyone else is suffering this way as I know it happens and mine could be just been made worse because of pregnancy? ❤️❤️

Firsttimeconcerns · 20/02/2021 07:45

@AIRRRR - I am experiencing exactly the same in the morning! I wondered if it was heightened allergies. I used to be allergic to cats but since having one that's disappeared until recently. My eyes are so itchy too. I was going to call midwife today to ask about antihistamines. However, it could be congestion I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

AlRRRR · 20/02/2021 07:49

@Firsttimeconcerns Are you getting the little bits of blood when you blow first thing too? I suppose the blood thing was a bit surprising, usually just need to blow nose loads!

I’m using a nasal wash out, and Olbas inhaler as well as steam baths with my head over a glass bowl with essential oils. My GP said to not mess around with any other meds yet, but will investigate after birth if still persistent with X rays etc,

Waitingforbabypage · 20/02/2021 08:18

@AlRRRR @Firsttimeconcerns I'm extremely congested in the mornings, does my head in (literally)
I've lost count of the days I wake with a sinus headache.

AlRRRR · 20/02/2021 08:37

@Waitingforbabypage Do you use saline sprays etc? I find mine sorts itself out with these things as soon as I’m moving about.

I’m using a calpol syringe to squirt a solution of bicarb and salt up my nose to apparently re set the PH, do you usually suffer with sinus issues pre-pregnancy? Do you ever have any blood when blowing your nose ? x

lucieloos · 20/02/2021 08:59

@AlRRRR I have really bad nasal congestion too. I've had it for months now. Worse at night when I lie down. It's so bad I can't breathe through one or both nostrils. There's nothing to blow out though just really dry and blocked.

AlRRRR · 20/02/2021 09:02

@lucieloos Do you try the other things I’ve mentioned and does it stop once you’re up and awake? The olbas nasal stick saves me!

I have the opposite to you, loads of mucus haha, I’m wondering if that’s why my GP has told me to wash it all out for a month .... It’s crazy isn’t it

Waitingforbabypage · 20/02/2021 09:57

Once I'm up and about it sorts itself out, only a little bit of blood sometimes, but Again I put that down to extra blood flow- it's not something I'm worried about xx

AlRRRR · 20/02/2021 10:12

@Waitingforbabypage okay ! I take it as a pregnancy thing then ! Is everything going okay for you ? :D

Humpty11 · 20/02/2021 21:41

@AIRRRR I’m so stuffed up and it seems to be getting worse and starting earlier in the day now, whereas before it was just at night.
I’ve tried the steramar saline nasal spray but it doesn’t seem to make any difference! Are we allowed to use the olbas nasal sticks because it feels like that is exactly what I need right now!
I was getting some blood when I was blowing my nose but not sure if it was irritated by doing lateral flow tests twice a week for work and then squirting the nasal spray up there too 🤷🏼‍♀️. I haven’t noticed any for a while though!

Waitingforbabypage · 20/02/2021 22:31

@AlRRRR I reckon so.

Yeah things seem to be all ok over here.
A bit achy with spd and getting breathless where lungs are starting to get squished but apart from that, all good.
Are you doing ok??

A rather funny thing has just this minute happened. Got myself ready for bed, got all tucked with my many many cushions, got comfy and then felt something tickly on my chest/boob.....I'm suddenly absolutely drenched!!! Is anyone else leaking already or are my boobs just mega eager?? 🙈😱

Scarftown · 21/02/2021 00:27

@Waitingforbabypage Me! Started around week 20 for me. Only appears to happen at night and not every night thankfully. Well not yet anyway. I’m now 24 weeks. Don’t know if I squish my boobs at night or what causes it but the wet cold and sticky ness has been know to wake me up lol

Fishingforhappiness · 21/02/2021 00:32

@AIRRRR I sleep on my right side and squish my right boob... I've leaked since 17 weeks and wake with wet and crusty arms. My midwife said they were keen but it varies and all normal. Now have to wear a bra and a pad.

I'm also a NHS worker. But have another health condition which made me vunerable. I've been working from home since 7 weeks. Doing back to back virtual clinics.... which I don't love! I cant wait until mat leave !!
