Hey ladies,

Just thought it might be a nice idea for any of us first time mums just finding out to have a thread to chat on.

@RadDarwazeh congratulations! How are you feeling?

Taybz · 19/01/2021 15:15

Girls, how does anyone else find it strange that weeks are counted from your last period? I'm 3.5 weeks but

Taybz · 19/01/2021 15:23

Girls, how does anyone else find it strange that weeks are counted from your last period? I'm 3.5 weeks but app says 5 weeks based on my last period. Are the scans based on your real date or this 'from period' date?
Also, side note - does Mumsnet not allow you to edit your own post? Posted before I could complete my post by accident!

unicornpower · 19/01/2021 15:29

@Madeoftea well that's good that they want to see you! At least then you will know if everything is in the right place- fingers crossed for you! Let us know how you go?

Congratulations @Taybz and @RadDarwazeh!

AdventuresAwait · 19/01/2021 15:31

I think all is done by weeks from the last period...

I don't know about editing posts as I'm new to Mumsnet!

Olinguita · 19/01/2021 15:52

@ClaireAir

Hi everyone! I'm due on 19th September like a lot of people on here! I'm getting stomach pains and have been spotting blood so pretty freaked out. I don't have sore boobs or nausea yet... it's so hard to know what's normal with a first baby. I don't know what to expect and feel I need to do loads of reading and research. I've signed up with NHS midwife but don't have an appointment yet. I'm 37 so I think I'm classed as an elderly first time mum! I'm thinking of doing another pregnancy test just to check baby is still in there....
I'm also 37 and am due on 19th! Fellow "elderly" mum here lol. Although everyone seems to be having babies in their mid-30s to early 40s now in my part of London so I feel like I'm in good company. Hope your stomach pains get better soon and I totally feel ya about checking to see if baby is still there.
Kirky658 · 19/01/2021 15:55

Hey ladies, just popping on to say hi again and how much better I feel after reading your comments!!! I also have cramping when I'm eating it is driving me mad. I woke up this morning with not slightly sore boobs and was so scared but they seem more sore again now. I've booked a scan for 4th Feb when I'll be 7+4, booked for next week originally but they advised me to go later so would be able to see more.

RadDarwazeh · 19/01/2021 15:56

Thank you for all the congratulations I feel good! Took two frer's to check 😂

I also find it weird they date from start of last period. How weird. DH was like, "but we didn't DTD then?!"

JenA82 · 19/01/2021 17:57

Hi ladies!! Also popping back on, like @Kirky658 it is so reassuring reading everyone is having similar things, the cramps really do make you worry don’t they?!

We have booked an early scan for about 7/8 weeks, my last period started with a few of days of spotting so I’m not 100%which I count from currently got two dates on the go (either due 17th or 20th!!)

Hope all goes well tomorrow @Madeoftea!

X

Chica1990 · 19/01/2021 17:59

@Madeoftea fingers crossed everything is ok! If they can’t see anything they should do some blood tests.

Cathie102 · 19/01/2021 18:08

Hi everyone, can I join in!?
I’m 35 and found out on Friday. I’m “due” 23rd Sept, which makes me 5 weeks today.
My first symptom over two weeks ago was really sore boobs! I wouldn’t say I’ve anything apart from that until today when my lower back feels a bit sore.
I know it’s too soon for “hormones” to kick in but I am an emotional wreck. I really really wanted to be pregnant but within a day of finding out I was I was freaking out about the massive life changes and so on. Is this hormones or am I just mad! Have any of you felt like that.
Congratulations on your BFPs, I can’t wait to get to know some of you!

AdventuresAwait · 19/01/2021 18:25

Hi @Cathie102, I feel the same! I'm 39, wondered if it would happen & go from super excited to freaking out! And just don't know what to expect.

Hope tomorrow goes well @Madeoftea x

Lvcx · 19/01/2021 18:33

Hi everyone,
Found out last week, so so nervous, 25 and this is my first...not planned!
Think I'm about 4 weeks 5 days today, due 23rd of September roughly 🤗

hippinghen · 19/01/2021 18:54

Hello all

I think (still shocked) I've found out I'm pregnant today. By the NHS calculator it says I'm due 29th September - our first baby and much longed for. No idea what I'm doing!! Xx

BettyRem · 19/01/2021 18:59

Congrats everyone, I'd like to join too as I got my BFP this morning
@strangerontheinternet same dates as you 30th sept!
It was our 1st cycle trying so when I did the test at 6am this morning I was in total shock
Ive had all my usual af symptoms and have now had a few twinges but hoping that's normal 🤞🏼

BettyRem · 19/01/2021 19:01

@hippinghen congrats! Were you ttc for a while? We have no idea what we're doing either!! When are you going to contact gp/midwife?

Cathie102 · 19/01/2021 19:19

@AdventuresAwait glad someone feels the same. I think it’s because that while I wanted a baby for my mental health I had got to a place where I could see a life without one too.

Glad we’re all in this together. My husband thinks we found out too soon! Haha!

hippinghen · 19/01/2021 19:35

@BettyRem this was the 4th month ttc so I'm really surprised as I have heard people can take much longer and we expected to as I'm 33. I'm going to contact my GP tomorrow as that's what the NHS app advises.... happy to be on this journey with you Smile

Bubbles1st · 19/01/2021 19:42

@AdventuresAwait

I'm a bit similar to you, I'll be 37 on Saturday, had made peace the best I could thinking we wouldn't have any children after 3.5 years.

I honestly feel that adopting my dream dog in October and starting to manifest in December was the positive turn my life needed to make me open to deserving what I desired.

I'm 6 + 1 am super nervous how the next 6 weeks will pan out waiting for a scan and then telling everyone!

It's so bizarre after all this time to be facing everything I have dreamed of.

Olinguita · 19/01/2021 19:54

@Bubbles1st massive congratulations to you!

I related to what you are saying about having to make peace already with not having children. I'm 37 and honestly for the past six years it felt like there were so many things going against me and that motherhood was never going to happen.

Oh and congratulations on getting your dream dog in October and for being open to your dreams coming true!

Bubbles1st · 19/01/2021 19:58

@Olinguita congratulations to you too. I think i spent so many years assuming it will happen in the 'future' before i knew it the future was now and it felt like time was ticking away.

Olinguita · 19/01/2021 20:03

@Bubbles1st thank you :) When babies don't happen for whatever reason and you dearly want them, mid-30s can be a really tough time of life to navigate emotionally. And I think it's hard for people to 'get it' if they've not lived it!

AdventuresAwait · 19/01/2021 20:12

Hello @Bubbles1st, I am 6 weeks tomorrow!
I've always wanted children and didn't think it would happen but then I met my husband & we are delighted to now be expecting.
I agree about the next 6 weeks, waiting for a scan & being able to tell everyone! Exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time Smile.

KGH5121 · 19/01/2021 20:14

Hello! Would love to join you all! I found out a couple of weeks ago, I've just hit the 7th week now. Think I'm due around the 12th September.

I had quite a few symptoms at the beginning, most have calmed down now apart from the nausea which ramped up to vomiting this morning!

@Taybz They use the first day of your last period as doctors can't work out when implantation occurred and some women don't know when they ovulated (doctors dont guess ovulation day as it can vary greatly). Very few women are likely to forget when they last had a period so that date is more reliable. I think because of this you're considered full term at 37 weeks :)
