@Kirky658 I’m so happy been crying just really emotional. I feel so much better from seeing heartbeat hoping I can relax now for the next 6 weeks till my next scan 🤞🏼

Lola0309 · 03/02/2021 10:39

@Blessedbutstressed96 how fantastic! Thanks for sharing, so pleased for you!

Blessedbutstressed96 · 03/02/2021 10:49

@Lola0309 Thankyou certainly makes it all real now, I’m so excited hoping I’ll relax a bit more these next 6 weeks til my 12 week scan.

Hope everyone else is doing well today

Kirky658 · 03/02/2021 10:49

@blessedbutstressed96 that will fly by. Congrats hun. I hope to be zen like you tomorrow evening after mine!

@raddarwazeh apparently pregnancy makes you more subseptible to contracting the flu and you are more likely to get seriously ill. I have the flu jab every September as I have asthma.

Blessedbutstressed96 · 03/02/2021 11:03

@Kirky658 Thankyou it all feels more real now, going to have to contain myself from telling my 4 year old 🤭 you’ll be fine I was such a nervous wreck right up to lying down on the bed but was instant relief when she told us there was a heart beat. Can’t wait to hear how it goes for you

unicornpower · 03/02/2021 11:55

@Blessedbutstressed96 congratulations! Really pleased for you!

Has anyone been on cyclizine for the sickness? My doctors have just switched me on to them as im still struggling to keep things down!

Blessedbutstressed96 · 03/02/2021 12:00

@unicornpower Thankyou so much , was Amazing seeing the heartbeat ❤️

I was in my first pregnancy didn’t find it worked the only thing that did was ondansetron but they’ll try not give you that until your second trimester

dizzypixie · 03/02/2021 12:11

Good luck all those with a scan today, and congrats @Blessedbutstressed96!

I’ve never had the flu jab, and don’t think I will this year, mainly because apparently the flu has pretty much disappeared this year apparently (given all the extra hygiene that everyone’s doing!) and also because we’re pretty much shielding and not seeing anyone because of covid. If my ob/gyn recommends though I will get it.
I will be getting the covid vax as soon as I can. I put a lot of thought into it, and for me the risk of getting a bad reaction to covid (asthma + preggers) seems bigger than them not having tested it on pregnant women, and vaccines being generally safe for pregnant women, plus the WHO have recommended it now. I read today also that mothers can pass on covid immunity to their babies, and the earlier in the pregnancy they were exposed to the virus the more antibodies the newborns had. I’d like the idea that my baby will be born with some version of immunity

GJ02 · 03/02/2021 12:24

Hi all,

I am in my 6th week, due around the end of September (calculator says 28th). Sadly miscarried my first pregnancy at 10 weeks in February 2020 and taken a while to conceive again. Naturally I want to be excited but trying to stay level headed and take each day as comes.

When are people generally getting NHS scans? I’ve self referred to maternity services in my area and been told someone will be in contact at 9 weeks. Just wondered if that’s national or varies across different areas?

Blessedbutstressed96 · 03/02/2021 12:27

@dizzypixie thanks so much , really pleased

@GJ02 I’m 6+1 today and had a scan today but only because I’m experiencing cramp so it was to rule out ectopic more than anything. Otherwise my scan is March when I’m 12 weeks. Really sorry to hear about your Mc I know how hard it can be we suffered one in March 2019 and have been trying since oct 2018 so I know it’s really hard. Best thing to do is stay calm take it easy. If you’re not wanting to wait phone your early pregnancy express your concerns due to previous mc they might do a reassurance scan for you. Everywhere is different though but worth a try

Madeoftea · 03/02/2021 12:58

So happy for you @Blessedbutstressed96.

I also had a scan today and have been let go from the epu now that they have seen the pregnancy is progressing. Baby was measuring super teeny tiny but they did see a little fluttering heartbeat so I'm as reassured as I can be. Now time to contact my gp and then wait another 6 weeks!

AdventuresAwait · 03/02/2021 13:19

Fab news @Blessedbutstressed96! So happy for you. Amazing, isn't it x

Blessedbutstressed96 · 03/02/2021 13:24

@Madeoftea that’s amazing happy for you aswell. I’m the same as you 6 week wait now. Hopefully it flies in

@AdventuresAwait I’m beyond happy can’t stop looking at my little blob😂 feel so relieved now

H3llie · 03/02/2021 13:38

@CherylLW congratulations 😊 hope all goes well for you too on 18th! Our early scan reassured me, plus the fact I still feel so sick tells me everything should be ok 🙏

@Blessedbutstressed96 so happy to hear this, you must be so relieved/overjoyed/all the emotions! 😍

CherylLW · 03/02/2021 13:41

@H3llie I feel so sick, I’m trying to have good little abs often to keep things at bay which seems to be helping. 😊 hope all goes well with your scan too, it’s crazy how quick the time goes! X

H3llie · 03/02/2021 13:48

@CherylLW I've been counting the days which is never a good thing really. At the moment though with lockdown there's not much else to do!
I agree, nausea is definitely worse when I'm hungry so been trying to have snacks. I'm really liking tangerines at the moment!

AdventuresAwait · 03/02/2021 13:51

That's great @Madeoftea! Really pleased it went well x

CherylLW · 03/02/2021 13:52

@H3llie I used to count the days and religiously check my app just to see that day tick over. Things are a little calmer since my early scan so trying to just take things as they come more now.

Tangerines are always good, I find those and watermelon good. I have salads and things too with cheese or avocado... anything that doesn’t smell!

H3llie · 03/02/2021 13:55

@CherylLW watermelon is a good call! I've been off veg weirdly, anything strongly smelling too like you but am managing carbs, toasties and jacket potatoes etc and I've managed pizza - I'm calling it a school dinners diet at the mo 🙈

Bubbles1st · 03/02/2021 14:00

I ate some watermelon yesterday and it was amazing!!

CherylLW · 03/02/2021 14:00

😂 @H3llie that sounds exactly like me!! I can’t even stand the thought of veg but ok with salad and fruit.
I’ve been having jacket potato, waffles with beans and having school dinners just like you said!

CherylLW · 03/02/2021 14:01

@Bubbles1st I think it’s amazing! I keep it in the fridge so it’s cold and so refreshing... takes my mind of feeling sick whilst eating something that’s not bad for me!

unicornpower · 03/02/2021 14:03

@Madeoftea that's great news! Really pleased for you!

I had my flu jab this morning, my midwife told me to get booked in and it seems better to be safe than sorry for me. Crackers are such a god send! They're my main food group now so thankfully they are staying down

@GJ02so sorry to hear about your MC, we had one last June and its the hardest thing, lots of people told me how quick we'd catch again after the first time and it just wasn't the case at all and I think the pressure is hard. I contacted my midwife service when I was 6w6d and have an appt next Monday when I'll be 8 weeks which is exciting and nervewracking, but I think they like to see women between week 7-10 so lt varies place to place. Stay positive, are you going to have an early scan? It really put my mind at rest, although I'm having another on the 16th as I can't wait until 12 x

Kirky658 · 03/02/2021 14:04

@h3llie how funny, I'm OK with veg mostly but I can't stomach lettuce, and my DH was eating an apple earlier and I had to tell him to go to the other side of the room as it made me nauseous!

I'm also on Carb Central, mini cheddar, cheesy wotsits, toast.. Not the best but I am still running so I'm hoping that is helping with the weight gain 😬

H3llie · 03/02/2021 14:13

@CherylLW ooh yes I put waffles on the shopping list last week! Haha.

@Kirky658 it's so strange how we're all different isn't it. Mini cheddars sound good right now though! I never know what I feel like eating lately. Urgh. Shouldn't complain but it gets me down a little.
