@Sillysocks998 if the first day of your last period was 21/12, then I believe as of 28/01 you are 5weeks +3 days. Atleast that's how I calculate it.

dizzypixie · 28/01/2021 12:20

Hi everyone, I’m new here! For all you that have had nausea, I feel you! Been feeling ROUGH over the past week and a half (I’m 8.5 weeks now). I’ve noticed a bit of a pattern that it’s less bad if I eat a bowl of porridge as soon as I get up (like ASAP - my husband starts cooking it, I stay in bed until it’s ready then eat straight away after getting up). I think everyone is different, so not sure if it will help, but I’ve heard other stories advocating eating as soon as you wake up.

How are people coping at work? I have home office (thank goodness) so can be a bit flex, but my mornings have been totally written off, and I can’t even tell my boss as he’s not one that would understand

Bubbles1st · 28/01/2021 12:30

@ChrAmbaby I think I am eating more fish than is recommended but the thought of most meat makes me feel nauseous- even my favourites 😭

I'm making a conscious effort this week to eat less but need to up my protein intake, eggs today if I can stomach them!

Kirky658 · 28/01/2021 12:35

@chrambaby we are trying to eat more fish just the two oily portions a week tho. Spaghetti puttanesca, anchovies, done. Piece of fried cod, done. We are having fish and chips tonight, not the healthiest but hey... I just wanna eat cheese!! Lol

Kirky658 · 28/01/2021 12:36

@dizzypixie I feel porridge does me the world of good too just can't always stomach it! I think I get low blood sugar which makes me nauseous tbh

unicornpower · 28/01/2021 12:51

I just took the dog for a stroll and when I got back I felt really woozy so I went and lay down, now I feel quite shaky and cold- do you think it could be low blood sugar? Im struggling to eat loads due to the nausea so I probably am low on calories at the moment! Its all such a minefield isnt it.

@dizzypixie welcome! Congratulations! I have to admit I told my boss but he is awesome and totally understands so had let me have this week off due to the horrendous sickness 😢 so I honestly don't have any advice in regards to the work situation.

How are you feeling other than that!

RadDarwazeh · 28/01/2021 13:20

Sorry to hear about all the nausea girls. I don't dry salty crackers are good. Nibble during the day too. Spent this morning at work (keyworker) feeling ever so nauseous.

I've also gone off meat a bit. I am limiting my tuna intake because of the mercury. But I might buy some cod fillets yum. And have veggie food more often Smile

MrsMcNtobe · 28/01/2021 13:26

@unicornpower I think you can get your blood sugar checked at any pharmacy so if you feel well enough maybe get it checked just so you know if you need to make any adjustments to diet/liquids etc before your appointment!

unicornpower · 28/01/2021 14:00

@MrsMcNtobe oh thats good I didnt realise that, I might pop tomorrow if it feels the same, ive had a big glass of coke and some food and feel a little better, I also felt quite shivery and cold so have whacked the fire on. Thanks for the tip about the pharmacies!

MrsMcNtobe · 28/01/2021 14:03

@unicornpower I’m Scotland but I’m sure it would be the same everywhere! They can also test for urine infections, which might come in handy lol.

A big glass of coke sounds bloody amazing right now, I usually drink 3-4 litres of water a day and I’m really struggling with liquids so I’m just going with the flow and having a little bit of water, fruit juice, Capri sun and irn bru .. not ideal but trying my best here lol!

unicornpower · 28/01/2021 14:27

@MrsMcNtobe doctors orders! He said that if you're struggling with fluids/keeping food down then tovgo for the full sugar stuff rather than diet drinks or water so I am doing as im told haha

AdventuresAwait · 28/01/2021 14:29

Thank you @CherylLW, that's really kind. We have been & it was all good!! We even heard the heartbeat! And we're further on than we thought. 8 weeks today. She said everything was looking good. So relieved & now not as long to wait as we thought for the 12 week mark! Going to try to think positively Smile.

Yes, @Hopefulmummie, I have nausea but don't bring anything up. It stopped for a while but it recently came back strong, especially first thing in the morning.

I still haven't heard anything about a booking appointment or blood tests. It seems like lots on here have already had contact with someone? Thinking of giving them a call.

Kirky658 · 28/01/2021 14:50

@adventuresawait ahhh that's fab news hun glad the scan went well.. I had to literally harass my gp surgery till the midwife contacted me x

Brightspark12 · 28/01/2021 14:51

@dizzypixie welcome! I am 5 weeks today, still in the office and I’m so tired.. had to say no to a coffee twice now said I was ‘cutting down’😂
Luckily I’m not feeling too rough, feel a but aggy and emotional but that’s all, I fear the worst is yet to come😂

Brightspark12 · 28/01/2021 14:52

@AdventuresAwait amazing news about the scan! I was considering one but I think I’ll go for it now. I emailed my local hospital today who sent me a form straight back to fill in and said to send it when I’m 6 weeks and then someone will contact me within a week. It’s all starting to feel a bit real now!

Taybz · 28/01/2021 14:54

@dizzypixie I start with porridge too but I can't finish a bowl. In fact, I've lost my appetite and not enjoying any food. Any advice girls?

AdventuresAwait · 28/01/2021 15:00

Thank you @Kirky658 and @Brightspark12!

Mine was an online self-referral form and it said 7 to 10 days from it being submitted. Today is ten days so I might call them tomorrow!

unicornpower · 28/01/2021 15:08

@AdventuresAwait oh congratulations! Thats fab news! How far along did you think you were?

Fi2612 · 28/01/2021 15:43

Hey everyone.

I had my early scan today (I’m 8+1), it was amazing. I was so emotional when I saw the baby and heard the heartbeat.

The baby was bigger than I expected it to be, although I’m not sure what I was expecting. It took a while for the baby to move to it measured, once she got it in place, she did 3 measurements and I’m measuring at 11+2. I had a period in December, so I’m a bit confused by it.

Has anyone else had this or heard of this with other woman? TIA

ChrAmbaby · 28/01/2021 15:52

@Bubbles1st I eat eggs most mornings for breakfast, have done so for a about a year now so haven't changed that yet. Will be trying porridge some mornings as apparently it is good to have for breakfast for pregnancy. Grains usually bloat me up so I try and avoid as much as I can. I love fish and so easy to make as well but now reducing that. Sad

ChrAmbaby · 28/01/2021 15:54

@Bubbles1st luckily I am still able to enjoy most food so trying and getting chicken in some form most days to ensure protein is consumed and as shared eggs almost every morning.

ChrAmbaby · 28/01/2021 15:55

@Kirky658 I know exactly what you mean, I had a Nando's last night, tasted amazing when eating it but feeling very bloated today 😥 I love Nando's but let's see if that is what I have to stop.

What Prenatals are all of you taking?? Have you begun taking them?

Brightspark12 · 28/01/2021 16:11

@Fi2612 oh wow!! Amazing! Least you’re closer to the 12 weeks! Some women do bleed lightly when their period would have been due - so maybe it was that and you conceived sooner?

Fi2612 · 28/01/2021 16:16

We have been trying since November, and my period is always very light. I did actually track it on an app and it lasted 3 days.

I tried to call the midwife, but she is on holiday so I’ve emailed for now.

I’ve googled 11 week scans and it is quite leggy..

ChrAmbaby · 28/01/2021 16:32

@AdventuresAwait yes definitely call - I had another letter today for a 45 min phone call with a midwife on 9/02 and then the bloods on 11/02. I would say if you haven't heard from your midwife yet, you should call your GP again and let them know.
