Hey ladies,

Just thought it might be a nice idea for any of us first time mums just finding out to have a thread to chat on.

Hey @mrandmrslobster I take the pregnacare ones that you can take throughout pregnancy but will probably ask the midwife what's best to do when I eventually do my referral! I think what you're doing sounds fine though? If you can eat a healthy diet and take folic acid and vitamin D then you should be doing enough.

I booked our early scan for next Sunday, I am terrified that something will go wrong between now and then! Fingers crossed its all okay x

CherylLW · 24/01/2021 09:05

Hey @unicornpower

I’ve got my early scan Wednesday and I’m feeling the exact same thoughts as you. I’m just hoping that everything will be ok 🤞🏼

Lots of luck for us both and everyone with early scans this week xx

unicornpower · 24/01/2021 09:08

@CherylLW oh thats great! Keep us posted? I will be thinking of you! What time is yours? (My comment above said it hadn't posted and so I rewrote it so feel free to ignore it haha)

CherylLW · 24/01/2021 09:12

@unicornpower

I will do :) its 1:30. Im a bit confused with the info regarding the scan. It says to arrive with a full bladder but then also says it will be an internal scan so will have to have an empty bladder.

I might call them as i have about an hours drive to the scan and would be much comfier skipping the full bladder part!

unicornpower · 24/01/2021 09:14

@CherylLW yes I am the same! I've out on my notes that I need an internal as I have a retroverted uterus so do I need a full bladder? I'd rather not have an abdominal one and then have the stress if they cant find anything. Are you going with window to the womb? Im going to call tomorrow too as I'd rather not wet myself haha

CherylLW · 24/01/2021 09:22

@unicornpower I feel the same, I would rather them go straight to the internal scan. I had a MMC last October and they did an abdominal and then an internal and couldn’t see anything and I worry that will bring back to many emotions of what happened before.

Yeh I’m going to window to the womb 😊 I was recommended it. How far along will you be at your scan? I will be 8+3 I’m surprised I’ve been able to wait this long!

Littlemiss40andfabulous · 24/01/2021 09:27

Hi, can I join too?

I'm 4 weeks + 2 days with my first pregnancy. If all goes well (and I'm so aware things may not) I'm due on 28th September.

Thanks x

CherylLW · 24/01/2021 09:48

Congratulations @Littlemiss40andfabulous such an exciting time!

How are you feeling? X

unicornpower · 24/01/2021 10:01

@CherylLW im really sorry, that must have been so awful to go through, I have everything crossed for you that it's all okay ❤ have you had many symptoms?

Ill be 6+4 which i know is so early but we both just really want to know there's something in there and it looks okay. My SIL had a blighted ovum last year and for our own peace of mind we'd rather know earlier if somethings gone wrong?

Weve made a pact that we won't look at the screen at all as obviously its still so early but if all looks ok we are going to have another scan at 9 weeks and ill look then haha I just am trying so hard to not get attached!

Congratulations @Littlemiss40andfabulous how exciting! How are you feeling? Xx

CherylLW · 24/01/2021 10:09

@unicornpower Thank you, it was a really horrible time. I was told the baby stopped developing at 7+2 but had no symptoms of this until 11+4. I’m just trying to keep my positive head on this time.

I’ve been feeling nausea, sore boobs, needing a wee a lot (especially during the night), feeling groggy on and off and just problems sleeping.
Have you been feeling many symptoms?

I don’t think I could not look!! I know how you feel about wanting to know sooner than later if something is wrong, I feel the same.

Positive thoughts 🤞🏼

mrandmrslobster · 24/01/2021 10:11

@unicornpower

Good luck for your early scan Smile

Fi2612 · 24/01/2021 10:11

I have my early scan on Thursday, I will be 8+1 then. I am excited and nervous, I feel like I can’t be properly excited about the pregnancy until then. Good luck with yours @CherylLW @unicornpower

CherylLW · 24/01/2021 10:15

Thank you @Fi2612 good luck with yours too!! X

mrandmrslobster · 24/01/2021 10:16

@CherylLW

Hey *@mrandmrslobster*

I was also wondering the same, I take the sevenseas multi pregnancy vitamin. About 6 weeks before I was pregnant I was taking just folic acid but then went up to the multi vitamin.

When I had my booking appointment they said I could take the multi vitamin all the way through as it’s got everything I need in there.
I’m struggling with what I eat at the moment as the thought of veg makes me queasy!

What do you think you’ll do?

I may move over to the pregnacare multivitamin and just take that for the whole pregnancy. My partner is very much into his vitamins and has got me into them too. So we have a cupboard of loads of different vitamins and minerals. However, when I fell pregnant I stripped them right back to folic acid, vitamin D and and iron/vit C/vit B mixture because I've learnt that you shouldn't take vitamin A while pregnant.

Pregnacare multivitamin might keep things simple for me, but I've never really been keen on multivitamins. If I did take it I'd probably keep up the separate vitamin D as I live in Scotland and really don't get enough sunlight!

CherylLW · 24/01/2021 10:26

@mrandmrslobster

I think I take the multivitamin as it makes it easier for me, I would have a clue about taking all types of individual vitamins. At least with the multi vitamin I know it’s been designed for pregnancy and hopefully has al the things I need 😊

I was taking a separate vitamin D but stopped that when I started the multi vitamin. So much to think about!

NommyChompers · 24/01/2021 10:37

@KGH5121 haha I think the masks are gonna be the issue - I have to wear high level PPE at work so full respirator mask/gown/etc so feel pretty nauseous anyway! Mints is a great shout!

Ahoynoy · 24/01/2021 10:54

Hi all :) I’m 5 weeks tomorrow so due 27th September. I’m 29 and first pregnancy, I have a 6 year old step son though. Already suffering with sickness and nausea.... joy 😁 medically complex and high risk so fingers crossed.... a surprise pregnancy but a much longer for one over the years (of course now I’m freaking out 😂)

I’ve had internal and abdominal scans- for gynae stuff before- they’ll do the abdominal one first, then let you empty your bladder before doing the internal if needed :)

showmorekindness · 24/01/2021 12:33

Congratulations to everyone with new BFPs. Wishing those having early scans good luck 🤞🏻

I'm going to hold out until the 12 week scan this time as I had an early scan (8wks) last time and everything was okay but later ended in MMC, so I don't think it will give me much reassurance this time.

If you are having an internal scan you should have an empty bladder. I was asked to go to the bathroom again right before the scan to make sure. They didn't try the abdominal scan first. This was at window to the womb.

I'm 5+3 today and sore boobs have kicked in this week, but no nausea or sickness yet. Cramps have also eased off.

ErrolFinn · 24/01/2021 15:31

Has anyone experienced a small amount of bleeding after sex? I googled it (as you do!) and it said it could be due to irritation of the cervix. It's only a small amount of light blood when I wipe but it's made me paranoid now!

Hopefulmummie · 24/01/2021 15:39

Hi hope everyone is OK this weekend.

I now have a scan at epu on Friday due to previous miscarriage and ectopic. I wasn't expecting them to offer me a scan due to covid so had one booked for 8 weeks. I'll be 6+3 at my scan so hopefully can see something and get some reassurance

I thibk my nausea might be starting as I have been feeling a bit nauseas the odd time. Not overly bad thank god

NommyChompers · 24/01/2021 15:42

@Ahoynoy welcome - in the same boat, I have endo so the long fought for pregnancy is super freaking me out! Nausea has started today and I’m finding the symptoms really reassuring!

hippinghen · 24/01/2021 16:13

Hello everyone great to readable your experiences. I'm now 4 weeks and 4 and the tiredness has hit me. I just go for a fairly short walk around the park and I'm wiped out - crazy!! Xx

Bubbles1st · 24/01/2021 16:44

@ErrolFinn I can offer no advice as this is the exact reason my fella is refusing me sex until 12 weeks scan!
Told him it will be a long wait!!

Ahoynoy · 24/01/2021 17:03

@showmorekindness so different for everyone isn’t it, I can totally see how having felt reassured and still had a mmc you’d not do it again. Fingers crossed for you :)

@Hopefulmummie great that they’re seeing you despite covid!

@NommyChompers ah bless you- it’s so tough isn’t it. I can’t get my hopes up but I also can’t help it. I have an autoimmune condition called antiphospholipid syndrome- i am on treatment already as it’s made me clot in my brain before Grin which should reduce my risks. Inject myself every 12 hours permanently and I bruise like crazy! I really hope it works out for you x

Taybz · 24/01/2021 17:32

Hey everyone! Congrats to all the new BFPs! The nausea is now absolutely killing me and I'm only 5+6! How's everyone dealing with it? Also, feel shattered all the time. It's my first and I'm sooo excited but can't wait until these symptoms subside.
