Hey ladies,

Just thought it might be a nice idea for any of us first time mums just finding out to have a thread to chat on.

I found out Monday and am now 4+4.

@Yknl omg that’s amazing to hear! Bet you can’t believe it! What a miracle

Yknl · 22/01/2021 09:26

@hippinghen I finally dropped off about 4 and I’m shattered now! I hope this is a symptom that fades because it’s pretty rubbish!
@AdventuresAwait thank you!!
@unicornpower thank you! Was feeling a little worried because my symptoms felt milder than google (mostly gas Angry and a little nausea) but reading all the comments has reassured me - waiting to see what week 6 brings!

Yknl · 22/01/2021 09:30

@Chica1990 we finally told our families over Christmas that we weren’t going to try again and would look into adoption this year so I think it’ll take a few months before I really believe it myself!

Bubbles1st · 22/01/2021 09:38

@Yknl congrats. We didn't think we could have children naturally and I ruled out Ivf as I have seen the personal struggles it caused for others. So after 3.5 years we feel this is too good to be true, cautiously excited!

Bubbles1st · 22/01/2021 09:38

Hi, has anyone found their initial contact with the midwife team difficult?

I got called a week ago after my self referral and was told my village was obviously having a baby boom and they were too busy to make an appointment for me so they needed to see where I could be seen. I live between two towns so showed a preference to the more accessible town. She gave me that community teams number and said I can chose where I have my care and when I finally got through to them (phone lines only open 1 hour per day) the midwife said they were busy can I call back in week.....but did confirm that I knew that meant going to that town for scans, which is what I wanted.

Well that's today, it's been a long week as you all know. I spoke to a lady there who said that they don't usually cover my village and whilst I can have my scans at the local hospital as soon as baby is born my post natal care would be transferred back to the other community team as they would have to come to my home as a bit closer.

So now I'm torn. Why say I can have care were I would like but only until baby is born. Surely I want the same midwife to come and visit and meet baby and look discuss all the personal it's with me who I know.

Anyone else had a weird time just getting a booking appointment?!?

I'm expecting a call back later after the lady who wasn't the midwife checks what she has told me it correct.....

AnitaB83 · 22/01/2021 10:49

Good morning all!

@Yknl congratulations! We were due to start IVF in March and we managed to conceive on the 24th month of TTC (two years!!!). I will be 38 in March.

@Bubbles1st I was lucky with my community midwife service, I have an appointment scheduled for the 6th of February. It is unfair that the administration of this service is so different within the same NHS!

@unicornpower, I am with you, I have no symptoms at all today (I am 6+1 weeks), and this is really concerning me but I try to stay relax, maybe I am just lucky :)

Bubbles1st · 22/01/2021 11:42

So the lady called back and said that even if I have pre abs post natal care in the same area after birth it will be the duty midwife which visits anyway who could still be a stranger to me. So I think I will go with convenience.

However she then said I could actually choose from three hospitals two of which are in a different county, but both 45 mins away.

Have you thought about which hospital you want to give birth in are you just going local are you actually going to look into facilities at the ones available? Unfortunately our local one doesn't have the best reputation but any extra appointments for blood tests or scans have to be done out of county if I choose that option.

It's all a minefield and they want to know before my booking appointment which is now been made for 8th February via phone.

mrandmrslobster · 22/01/2021 13:10

I'm feeling a bit freaked out at all the things everyone is discussing. This is my first baby and I've no idea what I'm doing. I haven't thought about it at all really and wasn't planning on doing anything until my 12 weeks scan. Is that ok? I have an online appointment about 3 weeks before that. But until then I haven't thought about things like hospitals and midwives and so on.

BabyVadera · 22/01/2021 13:18

@mrandmrslobster me too - I think I need the 12 weeks to first digest the fact I’m pregnant Grin x

Bubbles1st · 22/01/2021 13:25

@mrandmrslobster
I have been asked to let them know which hospital before the booking appointment as that is who will then send the scan letter.

I probably wouldn't have given it another thought if when they called they just booked me in, but by telling me my local option wasn't possible because they are too busy made me have to think about it.

mrandmrslobster · 22/01/2021 13:46

@Bubbles1st
@BabyVadera

Is it alright to just wait til the 12 week scan for now or is there anything I should be doing? I feel like I don't want to get too carried away but at the same time I feel clueless and like I ought to be doing something.

I'm taking recommended vitamins, eating well and going for walks. Other than that I'm not doing anything. Except for fun stuff like thinking about names Grin

Bubbles1st · 22/01/2021 13:54

@mrandmrslobster I imagine they will discuss it at your online booking appointment before your scan.

However this is all new to me and I know each trust can be different.

Chica1990 · 22/01/2021 14:05

I had my early reassurance scan today! I’m 6 weeks going by last period but look to actually be a little behind but they found the little 2.5mm bundle and even saw it’s flickering heartbeat!!

This was the best possible outcome I could have imagined and I burst into tears of relief when they showed me!

It looks a bit like a diamond ring. The ring part is the sack and the diamond is the embryo which was flickering.

@MrsMcNtobe Just tagging as I said I’d keep you updated

AdventuresAwait · 22/01/2021 14:32

Oh @Chica1990, that is amazing! So happy for you! Wow.

Bubbles1st · 22/01/2021 14:34

@Chica1990 how exciting, so pleased they could see them even though not quite 6 weeks.
You must feel much better :)

JeccaP · 22/01/2021 14:46

Hey, I'd love to join too please! I should be due around 16th September. This will be my first, after a molar pregnancy a couple of years back, so super nervous waiting for scan now. Congrats to everyone here, hope you're all doing ok xx

MrsMcNtobe · 22/01/2021 14:54

@Chica1990 omg!! How do you feel? This is amazing, I have mine on Wednesday (should be 6+5 but we’ll see how it measures)

unicornpower · 22/01/2021 15:20

@Chica1990 oh thats great news! So pleased for you, that must be such a relief. How are you feeling?

@mrandmrslobster oh don't panic lovely, you absolutely don't need to so anything! All I would do is contact your midwives/gp to get on their books so they will arrange your scans etc (sounds like you've already done that though) you don't have to have an early scan if you don't want to! It's perfectly fine to wait for your 12 week scan!

@JeccaP congratulations! So sorry about your molar pregnancy, that must have been so hard! Will you be having an early scan or you just going to see how you feel? I've been a ball of nerves in this pregnancy and im only 5+2 🙈 have you had many symptoms? X

mrandmrslobster · 22/01/2021 15:22

@unicornpower

Thanks for the advice Smile

I feel ok but I think the weeks will drag in especially because of lockdown. Need to keep myself busy and distracted.

Madeoftea · 22/01/2021 15:28

Hi everyone. I had my second HCG draw today and it had almost tripled! So things are looking good so far, although I'm not quite 5 weeks still. They've booked me in for a scan in a couple of weeks so they can be sure that things are progressing though. The nurses have been outstanding really.

@Chica1990 that's amazing! You must be so pleased. This is what I'm hoping to see soon! Smile

JeccaP · 22/01/2021 15:57

@unicornpower Thank you! They did recommend an early scan if I had another pregnancy but phoning the community midwife she said they don't tend to do that where I am! But she did say she'd put through a request for an emergency scan after my booking appt next Thursday so fingers crossed as I'm a bag of nerves too! Only had sore boobs so far, which have shot up to a whopping B cup now haha (huge for me!) No other symptoms though. Thanks for asking. Hope you're good x

@Chica1990 That's amazing, such a relief I bet x

Taybz · 22/01/2021 16:07

@Yknl @unicornpower massive congrats to you both! Here's to a happy healthy 9 months!

@Bubbles1st and anyone else who wanted an update on the window to the womb scan: so they just told me that the viability scan and the dating scan are exactly the same thing. The only reason they call it different things apparently is so that the sonographer knows the stage you are at before coming in so they're prepared for you. This is why the viability is listed as from 6 weeks and the dating from 8 weeks. Also, both date your pregnancy and they advise to do it from 7 weeks earliest.

unicornpower · 22/01/2021 16:25

@Madeoftea thats great news, all sounding positive for you ❤

Taybz · 22/01/2021 16:31

@Chica1990 that's amazing! Was this with Window to the Womb?

@Madeoftea how did your hcg levels get checked? Did you go private? My GP told me they don't do blood tests anymore to check hcg levels. It's so reassuring to know they're going up. I'm getting really anxious about mine now as my morning test line was not as dark as before.

EmLouisexx · 22/01/2021 16:34

Congratulations everyone! I am currently 5 weeks pregnant. Found out on Monday🙂 Its my first baby and I'm so worried. Ill be booking a private scan for when I'm 7/8 weeks just to check everything is ok!
