@viixie @Charl88 I agree with @MLAC2021 my boy only takes MAM, too - when we tried Tommee Tippee or Dr Brown he did exactly the same, he was just gagging or nibbling on the teat but wouldn't actually drink anything.

Kj1010 · 05/03/2021 20:45

@charl88 thankyou yes very poor care had doctor call me and they have prescribed antibiotic for the thrush which I get tomorrow so he will feel better soon

kkr168 · 06/03/2021 08:44

I recommend mam bottles too, when I was combi feeding my lo took to them straight away.

Funny a few have mentioned teething, I've thought Tommy might be because he's dribbling excessively, tried to look at his gums but he won't keep still.

Jwl45 · 06/03/2021 09:06

We are dribbling lots here! And the hands are constantly in the mouth. Perhaps this is whats waking her and not just the 4month sleep regression. Last night I think I was woken in every hour lol ... not crying, she was still half asleep just held my hand and then was fine.... it just happened all night lol

Jwl45 · 06/03/2021 09:22

We have also rolled over!!! 👏

Kj1010 · 06/03/2021 13:05

Afternoon all well after trapsing around a few chemists finally got lo antibiotics first one given my lo I think is teething he is constantly dribbling and hands in mouth and his gums are swollen and I think he has a little tooth on bottom gum getting ready to pop up also he is really trying to sit up to and now wriggle all over bed its changing so fast with our babies isnt it before we know it will be their 1st birthdays

Pinktruffle · 06/03/2021 18:35

@Jwl45 my LO is exactly the same, I think he is teething too. No where near rolling over yet though, that's a big milestone!

I spend all day with my LO and some days it does get to me especially with limited social contact with others due to lockdown, but last night as I was going to sleep, I found myself really looking forward to waking up in the morning and seeing his little smile and having a little conversation as he is constantly babbling now. Is that a bit pathetic of me?!

Jwl45 · 07/03/2021 09:10

@Pinktruffle not pathetic at all. Enjoy every second! Although we have a ite routine going here, every day is also different.. the babbling, the new found voice, the smiles, the almost there laugh out loud (hubby can't wait for this🤣) the concentration when playing, rolling over .. amazing. Its a shame we can't share these precious moments with others in person .... the videos and video calls aren't quite the same. It is what it is though I guess. I'm enjoying every minute. They grow so fast! Xx

Asianchick6693 · 08/03/2021 11:01

Hey guys how is everyone doing? I've not been on here in a long while! My LO is now 15 weeks. How has time gone so fast?!! I'm loving every moment of motherhood now. First few weeks were unbelievably difficult but I never thought you could fall in love with a little human more and more every day. She is such a character!

Her colic and reflux went at around 8 weeks. She's been a gem ever since. She began teething at 10 weeks and only just a few days ago I noticed the two bottom teeth starting to show under the gums! Didn't know they could start so soon. My only concern is her bowel habits. Today is day 12 no poop. She is mainly breastfed with one bottle of formula. We have been given lactulose but keep receiving contradicting advice from different doctors and her HV. Some say it's constipation and others say it isn't. My little girl is happy in herself and doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort. She just does one massive explosive poo when she does decide to go. I am having to give her lactulose though otherwise without it she doesn't seem to go at all. A bit lost in that sense and worried if there is any underlying issue. Anyone else experience the same thing or have any advice?

kkr168 · 08/03/2021 16:21

Hi @Asianchick6693 nice to see you posting on here & glad to hear your LO is doing so well.
My baby only poo's every 3-4 days (formula fed) he doesn't seem in any pain & when he does go they are normal bowel movements, although I'm always surprised at how little waste there is for the amount of time!! He was put on lactulose too but it seemed to give him cramps so we stopped using it. I kept seeing biagaia probiotics mentioned on a baby milk allergy group I'm on, so we ordered some & he has had his 1st dose today, i'm hoping they will get him going more regularly.

Kj1010 · 08/03/2021 16:57

Hi @Asianchick6693 nice to here from you I dont have the answer I'm afraid my lo is bottle fed and poos alot still and a mashy consistency and sometimes runny sorry for the info so I'm wondering if he is going to much like today he has been over 4 times but I am also wondering if it's the antibiotics he is on

Asianchick6693 · 09/03/2021 00:42

@kkr168 sounds interesting let me know how he gets on! Lactulose makes my girl very windy and they smell really bad too.

@Kj1010 sounds like you have the opposite concern bless you. I guess there's not one answer for all. I've been told breastfed babies have very little waste as they use up everything but surely after nearly 2 weeks and some formula I'd expect a bit more frequency. When she does decide to go they're so explosive and it goes everywhere, on her clothes etc. I have to use about 3-4 nappies sometimes as she carries on going. I'm going to ring the GP again tomorrow as this has been happening since January.

Thanks for replying both, hope you're all keeping well.

viixie · 09/03/2021 11:51

@Asianchick6693 my baby is EBF and she poops a lot 3-4 times a day, sometimes more. Maybe you could phone your GP and get some lactulose prescribed or something? 12 days can't be good for baby 👶

Asianchick6693 · 09/03/2021 12:27

@viixie already have lactulose been giving it daily since Feb 25th and still nothing :( just spoke to GP today. Said seeing as she's not uncomfortable and is happy then it just means she has slow moving bowel which can be common for babies. Health visitor thinks she can't be constipated and apparently it can be normal for them to go this long without a poo but it just doesn't sit right with me. GP prescribed more lactulose and told me to try a few drops of orange juice in about 1oz water.

Pinktruffle · 09/03/2021 12:34

@JWL45 we have had laughing out loud for a couple of weeks now, usually at really random things - my LO finds my husbands stressball which is the shape of Baby Yoda's head absolutely hilarious. It is just the most adorable thing! We are nowhere near rolling over yet though.

Catslife123 · 09/03/2021 12:53

@Asianchick6693 unless baby is in discomfort I really wouldn’t worry. My baby goes every 4-5 days (EBF). I have a friend whose baby once went 3 weeks without a poo (EBF). All absolutely within normal for breastfed babies and as long as they don’t seem in discomfort there’s no need to start medicating them.

Asianchick6693 · 09/03/2021 13:13

@Catslife123 I've been giving her lactulose since January I feel awfully guilty 😭 but I keep getting told different things. I've literally been giving it to her daily since Feb 25th and still no bowel movement. I feel awful. She had constant wind which smells awful and when she goes there's just so much and the doctor said that's from it building up. I don't know what to do honestly do I stop giving it to her cold turkey?

Jwl45 · 09/03/2021 13:24

@Pinktruffle aw fab! We had a little giggle this morning whilst looking in the mirror 🤣🤣 - didn't last long though! Love just sitting and watching and listening ...

Catslife123 · 09/03/2021 13:41

@Asianchick6693 oh don’t feel guilty! It won’t have caused harm, but unnecessary unless she seems to be in pain. Lactulose can cause some cramping and a side effect is gas. Maybe try weaning off it over a few days and see if her wind reduces? And breastfed baby poo tends to be absolutely explosive with wind. We often have leakages and it sometimes almost feels like the baby could fly off our knee with the force of the wind Blush. Definitely be led by how she seems and speak to the GP if she does seem uncomfortable? But just wanted to share that very infrequent pooing is totally ok!

Asianchick6693 · 09/03/2021 13:46

@Catslife123 thank you, I'm already sort of weaning her by giving it once a day instead of twice. I hope she does go soon. As normal as it might be I'm just such a worrier and can't stop thinking something is wrong!! Silly me. Thank you for reassuring me x

peachypetite · 10/03/2021 07:16

Hi all. Also agree baby is so much more fun to be with than that awful newborn stage. I think the first eight weeks are totally brutal!! Baby is sleeping very well. My husband does a feed around 1am, while I’m already asleep. I then do the next one around 6.30am and then baby usually goes back to sleep. I sometimes find I can’t! Like now. I have booked in for hartbeeps, so ridiculously excited about being able to do a baby class and meet other mums and just do something other than sit in my bloody living room. I’ve heard good things. Link in case anyone else is interested in booking

How is everyone feeling about their post partum body? I haven’t started losing my hair yet. But I do want to shift some extra weight. I don’t feel like I gained loads but all I wear is elasticated waist clothing which is more forgiving. I have a wedding to go to and I did an online order of dresses and they all just accentuated the extra weight on my stomach which has always been flat. I might start my fitness pal again.

Kj1010 · 10/03/2021 08:55

@peachypetite my hair hasn't fell out as regards to body I've gone lost 7lbs from my pre pregnancy weight which I was shocked at as thought I'd just loose what I had gained during pregnancy so happy there now my daughter is back to school I walk her every day and pick her up that's 4.2 miles in total plus I've been walking wherever I need to go instead of driving will see in next month or so if its having any effect on body I will be starting my dance dvds soon aswell as we have booked a little get away to northolk in august so would like to be a bit slimmer and fitter by then I do have to stop my drinking tho as I am slowly creeping back to a couple of drinks everyday but I think its bordem being stuck in you just get into bad habits

Jellycat2020 · 10/03/2021 12:16

@peachypetite OMG I'm losing so much hair! It comes out in clumps whenever I wash it 😭. I've read its just your body getting back to normal after gaining volume during pregnancy but I'm worried about getting bald patches!
As for weight, I'm pretty happy. I gained 17kg during pregnancy, lost 10kg very quickly afterwards when I was expressing breastmilk and now managed to lose another 4kg myself so only 3kg or so above my pre-pregnancy weight. Not too much of a tummy but no stretch marks! Woo hoo! 😂

Pinktruffle · 10/03/2021 12:45

I haven't weighed myself to be honest but I'm able to fit in to all my pre-pregnancy clothes (though the jeans are a little snug) so I'm happy. I think I do need to go to the gym or something at some point though to tone up all the loose belly.

I'm losing so much hair, I'm really really upset by it as I lost lots in pregnancy due to undiagnosed anemia and now I'm losing it hand over first again. I do find it distressing but I guess there isn't much I can do.

@peachypetite thank you for the link to hartbeeps, there are classes run about 5 minutes from my home. I've emailed the lady running them to ask when classes will be running 😊

Jwl45 · 10/03/2021 17:30

Well ladies, I don't think its pregnancy weight (apart from boobs!) It's Xmas weight lol

Trying to get out there if dry... but its been quite rubbish. Have a few links for dance/ powerfit classes on line.. just need to get in the right mindset. Im not happy with my weight/ body... I just can't get my head in the game 😏
