Did anyone elses little ones go off milk after their injections? My son usually drinks 20oz but since having his injections Friday he's only managing 14oz, he seems well in himself otherwise.

Jellycat2020 · 02/03/2021 08:55

@kkr168 yes, our daughter dropped down on feed amounts for about 4 or 5 days after her jabs but now she's drinking more than ever, around 30-35oz a day (exclusively bottle fed)!

kkr168 · 02/03/2021 09:04

Hopefully he gets back to normal soon then!
He had his last bottle at 10pm yesterday & only drank 2oz (14oz total for the day), he then had 1oz at 5am & has so far refused his morning bottle.
When having a Google last night it did say the rotavirus meds can put them off their feeds.

Morning all havent been on for a bit my lo finally moved up to 6 ounces now but only just moved up dirty nappies seem to be reducing also maybe 1 to 2 also not sure on his weight as the scales I got seem to be going wrong so I weighed him last week said he was 13lb 5 then weighed him this week as I do and it said he was 12lb 5 thought this was wrong so weighed him again went 13lb5 but then dropped to 12lb 5 again so I got my son to stand on our scales he went 8st5 then stood on again with lo went 9st6 so I dont no what to go by finally got hold of hv general board was told the hv I had at beginning was only for 6/8 weeks then u go back to having basically anyone I said well since her first call I've had nothing they said due to covid they only seeing babies that mothers have serious concerns about ie growth etc I told them my lo hasn't been weighed measured etc since being released from midwife and although I dont have any serious concerns I think it's pretty poor the lack of after care I've received they are now booking me a home visit to have him weighed measured etc but have to wait 7/10 days and if I dont hear nothing to call back I have said with all due respect I know covid is a serious illness but feel they are using this to there advantage just like my doctors not seeing anyone at all but takes like over a hour to get through on the phone seriously pissed off with some of our health services

Jellycat2020 · 02/03/2021 09:19

Our lo didn't drop that much so might be worth checking his temperature, but if he's well in himself, then hopefully he'll start to pick up again soon.

peachypetite · 03/03/2021 07:35

@Kj1010 I am glad you have the health visitor booked in. I have been having my baby weighed every two weeks, arranged by them, due to my worries about her weight and our bumpy start to feeding. Does anyone else have random days where they feel really down? I’m not sure if it’s hormonal since I’ve stopped breastfeeding but last night I just felt totally fed up. Waited for husband to finish work and then did washing, tidied kitchen, cleaned and sterilised bottles, made next feed up, hoovered the floor and just felt like....is this life now?! Then went upstairs to watch prime on my own and have a break from the baby!

Anotherboy · 03/03/2021 08:04

@pechypetite bless you, I definitely had more days like with my first. This time around there are times the 'groundhog day' routine gets to me, but I know it won't be like this forever! For me, it helps to think of everything in phases that eventually end. What has helped this time is making sure I have time for me things, like getting out for a run or painting when the baby is sleeping. I cannot wait for lockdown to ease too, getting out and about is going to be amazing.

Jellycat2020 · 03/03/2021 20:38

I think we're hitting the 4 month sleep regression 😣 She's been so unsettled past two days, fighting naps, getting incredibly grouchy, nothing settles her but drinking plenty so I know she's not unwell! Hope it passes soon....

kkr168 · 03/03/2021 22:29

Tommy was back to his usual 20oz today, I definitely think him drinking less was linked to his 12 week vaccinations. Hopefully the next lot of jabs don't have a similar effect, 4 days of declining feeds was worrying.

I had my 1st covid vaccine today at 10am, felt fine all day but the chills have now hit, along with a dead arm. Anyone else had there's yet? Did you have any side effects?

kkr168 · 03/03/2021 22:36

@peachypetite it's so tiresome but as @Anotherboy said time really does fly, my 1st born is 18 in September, I really miss him being small & needing me.
Just think back to those early days when we were all struggling with no sleep, constant crying, colic, reflux, babies strapped to us 24/7, etc, I was lucky if I could brush my teeth let alone clean the house Grin

Jellycat2020 · 03/03/2021 22:48

@kkr168 yes, had mine last week. I got a headache for 3 days and a painful arm too. My parents didn't get any side effects!

Charl88 · 04/03/2021 15:59

I've had a really down couple of days. I'm so tired, EBF baby and he just wants me all the time I get no break. He's 11 weeks now. Still only doing 3-4hourz at night and will not sleep unless outside walking in the pram in thr day. I feel like stopping breastfeeding, I feel I have no time for my toddler in the evening as baby just wants Me for comfort. He'll cry on my husband in the evening. I feel so guilty for thinking like this but I feel trapped. Just had to get it out.

Anotherboy · 04/03/2021 17:45

Well after all my positivity the other day I've had a couple of tough days with a very unsettled baby. The crying all night and day, and endless pacing about has had me in tears! I just want a nice hot bath and about 12 hours in bed. @Charl88 I know what you mean about feeling like you have no time for your other child, it's even worse now mine's back at school, feels like I hardly see him in the week, and when we do get back from school baby is taking all my attention.

Yellowbeansontoast · 04/03/2021 19:56

@Charl88 I'm with you there, have considered stopping breastfeeding so many times now. My LO seems to react to nearly everything through my milk with nasty allergy symptoms (most recently white fish), so I've been living off potatoes and turkey only. And to top it off, he's now been on a nursing strike for about 3 weeks, so am having to pump all his daytime feeds as he'll scream otherwise. Luckily still taking the boob for night feeds but man, I'm slowly losing it over here..
Absolutely dreading this weekend with DH on 13h shifts Fri-Sun 😭

lc86 · 04/03/2021 20:09

@Charl88 I'm with you!! Baby is now 13 weeks and feels like he's constantly eating or crying during the day. He's bottle fed and does sleep 6-8 hours stretch at night luckily but during the day we are losing the will with how grumpy he has been the last few days xx

Jellycat2020 · 04/03/2021 21:03

@lc86 sounds familiar! I've read they have a growth spurt at 12 weeks and can start the 4 month sleep regression between 3-4 months... We've had a couple of days of very grumpy baby but then today she's been an absolute dream (so far!). A couple of babies in our NCT group have also started teething so we're on the look out for that too! 😣

lc86 · 04/03/2021 21:08

@Jellycat2020 I just tried him with a teething powder, desperate now so trying everything! And we finally had a smile, first time today. I don't think he's teething but you just never know. Dreading the sleep regression 😩 it seems like we get a few lovely days where he's himself and then it's another growth spurt or leap! Can't keep up with him x

lc86 · 04/03/2021 21:08

@Jellycat2020 hopefully she stays happy for you 🙏🏼

Anotherboy · 05/03/2021 08:38

My LO loves chewing on sophie, and I have a teething necklace. Cold carrots so work well when they start eating!

Pinktruffle · 05/03/2021 14:06

I think mine has hit the dreaded sleep regression. He is 3 months and 3 weeks and was a nightmare last night. I forgot how difficult getting up every 3 hours was. He cries when he goes down mid 3 hour period. Isn't napping much during the day and fighting sleep. Saying that, after an awful night, he's now asleep on me and has been napping for 2 and a half hours. I dont know whether I should wake him given he didnt sleep much last night.

viixie · 05/03/2021 15:29

Anyone else EBF? I'd like for my partner to be able to give her a bottle now and then just to give me a break! However, she won't take it at all, turns her head, spits it out and gags 😩 has anyone else been through this?

Kj1010 · 05/03/2021 15:45

So having a bit of a night mare my lo I noticed yesterday has what looks like thrush coming in his mouth didn't have a great nights sleep last night and has been very unsettled today only drank one bottle since his 6am bottle rang my doctors for a appointment to be told no appointments today and I need to ring up at 8am I did that but by time I got through appointments all gone I told them I think it's a disgrace that there is no appointments for babies etc put aside and that he hasn't been seen since 11 days old got told to ring emergency doctor number and put phone down on me so after a hour ringing this no got through to them have a phone consult at 4.50 and depending on what doctor thinks they will either say come down or write a prescription out the women couldn't believe that my baby hasn't been seen by anyone since 11 days old he nearly 13 weeks now just hoping doctor will prescribe stuff for thrush before it gets worse

Charl88 · 05/03/2021 17:16

@viixie I'm having this problem too. Baby is 11 weeks old and I want to start combo feeding but he is refusing a bottle!! Dont know what to do!!! X

Charl88 · 05/03/2021 17:18

@Kj1010 you've been treated so badly! I can't belive your baby has had no check up whatsoever its disgusting. Hopefully he will be sorted today and he feels better soon.

MLAC2021 · 05/03/2021 18:26

@viixie and @Charl88 have you tried different bottle brands? Babies can be fussy when it comes to teats. I EBF and my husband gives LO a bottle of pumped milk every evening (been doing this from day 4, she's 9 weeks old).
We are using mam anti colic bottles, they are what she likes.
