I think he’s back to back as I’ve just got agonising constant pain in my lower back but the monitor is picking up no contractions.

I’ve given in to all the drugs that they will allow me just to get any respite. Having to stay in as my kidney function isn’t what they want it to be.

My baby has been so unsettled today, I feel like crying. Just exhausted. Every time he falls asleep on me he then wakes up as soon as I try to put him down. He's just really fidgety and won't seem to settle at all 😩

Asianchick6693 · 28/12/2020 05:33

@Jwl45 it's adorable isn't it? 😂 She still has off days where she won't take it at all, it all depends on her mood really.

@alphabetti I don't know if this is a strange suggestion but I've been recommended by my mum and a few friends to rub olive oil on the nipples when they're sore too. I didn't try it at first but did when I was having trouble breastfeeding due to my daughter's tongue tie, my nipples were so sore and cracked at one point, it was the only thing that gave me quick relief in between each feed.

@MaverickDanger I hope you're okay lovely. My little girl was back to back so you have my utmost sympathy. It was honestly the worst pain I have experienced my entire life. My whole body shook with every contraction and I screamed the whole place down Blush. I felt so embarrassed but out of control, I'm a quiet person in general so to be screaming at the top of my lungs was so unlike me. I took paracetamol, codeine, morphine, pethidine and finally gas and air and none of it touched the pain. I wanted epidural but had no one available to administer it until it was too late. I was just really unlucky. I've got all my fingers crossed for you, and hope it's over soon.

Hi ladies, hope you are all doing ok. Still waiting for baby to make an appearance, 40+2 today.

For sore / cracked nipples, try multi-mam compresses. You put them in the fridge/freezer before using them.

Also recommend silverette cups, they are a bit pricey but they are amazing.

Sorry, not sure what is with the link.

You can get silver nursing cups on amazon for £30.

Baby had terrible colic last night snd then again from the early hours. She finally had been asleep on me for an hour and the second I put her down so I could pump she woke up Hmm. Typical!

MaverickDanger · 28/12/2020 09:04

Thanks @Asianchick6693 - they don’t think I’m having contractions but then can’t really explain what this constant agonising pain is in my back!

I’ve had oramorph now which seems to have worked & as long as I lie on my side, I can cope with it. As soon as they want to monitor me on my back, that’s when it gets agonising again.

Slept a lot better than I thought & being checked over in the next couple of hours, so will see next steps!

NaomiB79 · 28/12/2020 09:49

@peachypetite the colic is awful my wee one is suffering so bad with it and everything we have tried doesn't seem to have much effect. I was hoping it would start to ease a bit by now but it seems to be getting worse, it's exhausting!

Snowwhite2020 · 28/12/2020 11:06

@NaomiB79 @peachypetite my baby doesn’t have colic but does have a lot of really bad wind that she struggles with. Have you tried lying them flat on the bed/ changing mat but on their left side and tubing their back? Their tiny is on the left and it helps put pressure on it gently to squeeze the wind out- especially if you turn gently on their back too... this has been working well for us but it’s not a complete fix obviously x

Snowwhite2020 · 28/12/2020 11:06

Rub not turn sorry- typo

Snowwhite2020 · 28/12/2020 11:07

Running not tubing and tummy not tiny.... wahh sleep deprivation for you!

Snowwhite2020 · 28/12/2020 11:08

Rubbing!!! Haha haha

NaomiB79 · 28/12/2020 11:12

@Snowwhite2020 haha don't worry most of my texts / messages are like that these days because of the no sleep! Not tried that will give it a go thanks x

Snowwhite2020 · 28/12/2020 13:57

Haha it’s rough isn’t it @NaomiB79!

lucyFTM · 28/12/2020 14:01

How often do people take their babies outside?
With the weather being so rubbish at the moment sometimes we don't go out for 2 days at a time, is this okay or should she be getting fresh air everyday?

lc86 · 28/12/2020 14:46

@lucyFTM only when needed tbh.. due to the rain my baby has only been for two walks and he's 3 weeks old.. has been out in car 2/3 times when we have needed to go out xx

Kj1010 · 28/12/2020 15:42

@lucyFTM my lo has been out bout 4 times along with midwive appointments took him today as I needed the fresh air plus needed to get so milk for him I am now trying him on hungrier baby milk as he doesn't seem satisfied with the normal keeps searching he is now on 4 ounces like every 3/4 hours some times 2 I thought maybe colic but he is forever farting and burping I think he is following my eldest path as he was like this but didn't start him on the milk till 4 weeks then it sorted it self out into a decent pattern so I'm hoping this works as he never slept last night properly till like 5am

Jwl45 · 28/12/2020 17:11

We haven't been out much!! We have had the odd little walk... like seeing the Xmas lights .. quick town walk... But Def not every day. Had a lovely walk yesterday. Was going to this afternoon but the rain came.
Will try tomorrow though. Then it's meant to snow Wednesday Thursday 🤣

Snowwhite2020 · 28/12/2020 17:41

Has anyone that has had mastitis and been on antibiotics noticed it has made their babies super sleepy? Could be a coincidence and be a growth spurt... she’s still waking for feeds and getting expressed milk in bottles for now until I heal. Grateful for any experience/ advice

peachypetite · 28/12/2020 18:59

She’s had it all day. @Snowwhite2020 yes she’s definitely better when on her side or belly rather than back. Either me or my husband have held her all day. Exhausted. We have hardly been out either. Managed a couple of walks but the weather is horrible ana there is nowhere to go anyway.

Jwl45 · 28/12/2020 19:37

@snowwhite2020 I am currently on antibiotics for mastitis. My little one has been sleeping a fair bit so possibly. I did think the other day mind, should she be sleeping this amount ... Google said yes lol.
15-18 hours In 24 hours. She is beginning to have longer periods of awake time... She is 7 weeks today.

Jwl45 · 28/12/2020 19:39

@snowwhite2020 hope your healing is going ok x

Bigredriding · 28/12/2020 19:47

Hi everyone, I hope everyone’s getting on ok. I’m a serial name changer on here but I posted several times on the previous thread (can’t actually remember the name!).

My little boy is 3.5 weeks old now and seems to really fight sleep. He can be quite comfortable for 2-3 hours awake but then when it comes to getting him to sleep it’s a real fight, and I’m guessing it’s because he’s overtired. Just wondering how long other babies of a similar age are awake for? He’s also quite windy and we’re having fun with colic most days now.

Kj1010 · 28/12/2020 20:12

@Bigredriding my lo 3 weeks today and although I dont think he has colic he is staying awake quite a bit through the day which not moaning about but again come night time very whingy overtired wont sleep constant feeding etc so today have brought hungrier formula and so far been ok still awake a bit but more content and not searching for food straight after a feed but real test will be tonight as last night didn't settle till 5am
