Hi All,

Pregnant with baby number 1, due end of July 2021. Was hoping that we could get a thread going for those due around the same time (or sooner!) so that we can chat through our experiences and help others out. I am totally clueless so would love someone to chat to given we haven't announced yet (i am 7+3 today)!

Hi ☺️

Congratulations and nice to meet you ❤️
I'm very similar: first pregnancy, 7 weeks and 4 days due end of July. I'm clueless myself and I still have days when im not sure what's going on.. I have barely any symptoms (apart from sore breasts and maybe feeling more tired than usual but nothing notable) so I do get anxious a lot..
I would definitely love to chat and discuss our experiences!

rbetty · 14/12/2020 23:18

Hi! I'm 11 weeks and go for my scan on Thursday. I'm so anxious after 2 chemicals this year. I've not had many symptoms, some dizziness and sore boobs and I'm sooooo tired! So I'm keeping everything crossed for Thursday! X

Dogmom92 · 15/12/2020 08:48

Hi girls!

@MonaFlo Im the same! No real nausea or anything and i feel a little more tired but not that much different! I did find a spare test the other day and used it just to make sure - the line showed almost immediately haha! Have you got an appointment yet for your first scan?

@rbetty oh wow you are so close to seeing the bab! I am sure it will go well and give you some reassurance - it really feels weird to have nothing ‘confirmed’ from the home pregnancy test until the scan - i thought the docs would have done a blood test or something but they just phoned and told me they had sent a prescription for folic acid etc!

@Dogmom92 I was actually thinking on buying another pregnancy test as well. It just feels I'm so normal that I can't be pregnant 🙈 I've got an appointment with the midwife on the 30th and its over the phone. Seems then we will discuss the scan. How about you? Do you have a date? I don't know if an earlier scan would be beneficial.. (obviously private). The waiting is sooo annoying and stressful! And as you said, no blood test or anything so it's just strange..

@rbetty exciting!!! So close to see it 😍 not long now xx

Dogmom92 · 15/12/2020 13:38

@MonaFlo maybe it works differently where you are? Im Northern Ireland, just received a letter last week with my first appointment/scan date which is in Jan when i will be exactly 12 weeks.

Just before i received that letter i did book a private scan just to see but its going to be at 10 weeks (because all of the other ones were booked up) - not sure if i will cancel it yet... doesn't seem much point in doing one 2 weeks before my nhs one.

The other thing i saw in my research was a lot of people paying to do the Harmony test privately - its quite expensive and my husband doesn't seem convinced. I think we are going to discuss this with the midwife at our first appointment to get more of an idea because as far as i understand they dont do it on the nhs and waiting for the 20 week scan is a long time for some reassurance.

@Dogmom92 I'm in the North-West of England and here I had to refer myself and then a few weeks later I got a letter saying that the midwife will call me for my initial appointment which is 1 hour to discuss several things and to also explain how I can book the scans. So I'm not too sure when I will have the 12 weeks scan yet..

I'm really thinking of having one sooner. Do you know if around 9-10 weeks they can do an external scan? I understood that for early scans they use the transvaginal way as they can't see anything otherwise but I'm still confused if wether at 9 months + they can do it externally.

It's nice you already know the date of your scan! Something to look for ☺️! They are very close together so might not worth it but I guess it also depends on if you just want to get a faster assurance xx

I also read about the Harmony test that you can do earlier . I think it's around £400 here. To be honest I'm not sure what to say but I think it's worth talking with the midwife and see what she says. We might do the same and although money are not the issue, my husband is already going crazy at me as he thinks I panic over nothing and overthinking and over planning and I dont enjoy being actually pregnant. I am a worrier and always has been. He is more practical and chilled and thinks we should take it step by step with NHS and deal with any issues when and if there is one xx (I struggle to follow his advice tho 😂😂😂)

Dogmom92 · 15/12/2020 14:43

@MonaFlo Im not sure about when they do abdominal scans but i would assume around 9-10 weeks would be fine - maybe you can call a private clinic and confirm?

I think we are exactly the same! I worry about everything and the harmony test can be done from 10 weeks with just blood and can even indicate gender! I just cant imagine waiting to 20 odd weeks to get any form of reassurance!

MonaFlo · 15/12/2020 15:42

I'll call a private clinic . I really can't see myself waiting for who knows when!

Yes it does sound like a straight forward test and I do think it does bring reassurance earlier. Let me know what you decide.

Not great being worriers but I really can't change 🙈

Mrslouu · 15/12/2020 16:55

Hi, pregnant with 1st. Had early scan today after some bleeding but all fine so far and at 7 weeks 4 days approx although gp thought I was more like 9 apparently not. Welcome ladies.

feistymumma · 15/12/2020 17:27

Hello,

Just had my reassurance and dating scan today and saw a little heartbeat. We are about a week out from what we thought 9 weeks instead of 8. So happy as I have been worried sick.

Dogmom92 · 15/12/2020 18:40

@MonaFlo i think we are doing to see what happens/discuss with midwife at the 12 week app to see what we will do about the harmony test.

Welcome @Mrslouu @feistymumma!
Thats something i never thought about ... in my head im going by the exact days from my app but given they just count from first day of your last period it could change! Glad you both got some reassurance!

@Dogmom92 that sounds like a good plan ☺️ I just booked my early scan on the 23rd .. I just can't wait until sometime in January. Fingers crossed 🤞❤️

Hi @Mrslouu @feistymumma so nice everything is going well and you got reassurance. Im having mine next week and I hope everything will be fine.

feistymumma · 15/12/2020 22:41

Thank you @Dogmom92 @MonaFlo

Hi all,

First pregnancy here too. Think I'm 10+5 currently and have my 12 week scan on the 29th. We are yet to tell anyone as I'm terrified we will get bad news at the scan and then will have the pressure of sharing that straight away. So far I've felt really nauseous from 6 weeks, but that has eased the last 2 days!

Bluefairy88 · 16/12/2020 17:35

Joining in- I’m 7+7 today, due late July. Still not had midwife booking appointment yet- got that tomorrow, but did book a private scan (Very nervous, as had to terminate last pregnancy 2 years ago at 13 weeks. We found out at the 12 week scan that our baby had multiple defects) I hope this doesn’t upset anyone- it was a very rare disorder, so certainly not something that occurs regularly at 12 week scans, I don’t want to alarm anyone.

So I’m really dreading the 12 week scan. Sadly I just can’t imagine it being good news for me.

What’s really strange, is that the dates for this pregnancy are exactly the same as my last. So same due date, same age at early scans... not sure what to make of that...

I’ve been feeling pretty awful, so sick & tired. Really looking forward to feeling better.

Wishing you all safe & healthy pregnancies and look forward to hopefully sharing the journey with everyone. Xx

Dogmom92 · 18/12/2020 13:48

Welcome @FirstTimeMummy2021 & @Bluefairy88 !

Sorry to hear you are both suffering with sickness!

Bluefairy88 - thats so odd with the dates! I hope your early scan goes well, keep us updated - we can always chat whatever the result Smile

Hi Ladies 👋🏻

Can I join? I'm 11+5 and have my scan on Monday - the nerves are real!

I've not had crazy sickness but have felt almost hungover from probably 5-10 weeks, very sore boobs and AWFUL skin - I mean, back to being a teenager skin!! I now have super-bloating which makes me look like a walking bowling ball 😂

I also had a couple of bleeds (8/10weeks) and so may be able to provide some reassurance or info for anyone who needs it (assuming all goes ok on Monday...!) - I've been lurking on Mumsnet since my scares so know how reassuring everyone is.

Hope everyone is feeling ok and looking forward (ish) to Christmas! X

Pearson26 · 18/12/2020 14:02

@MonaFlo I think it depends where you go in terms of how they scan you, but I had a reassurance scan (private) at 7weeks and then again at the EPU (8weeks after bleeding) and both were abdominal, both times saw the heartbeat. I'd recommend checking ahead of any early scans which one it is as for the abdominal you need a full bladder (and strong wee-holding abilities!) and for tranvaginal you need an empty bladder I think...

Hope this helps x

MillyJS · 18/12/2020 14:06

Hello! I'd love to join!

I'm 9 weeks today based on the dates of my last period but I've got a private scan tomorrow just to check everything's ok. 90% of me thinks we'll go & it'll be bad news but that's just how I think. Fingers' crossed it's good news.

@Pearson26 I also feel completely hungover! I've felt dreadful since about week 6, having a good day today though. It's been a constant feeling of the worst part of a bad hangover allllll the time.

First baby so literally zero clue what I'm doing. I've also only told a couple of friends so it feels quite lonely, although lockdown's meant I could keep it secret for much longer than normal. I wouldn't have got away with 'being on antibiotics' at our Christmas party 😂

Hope you're all feeling ok! Xx

Cressie2 · 18/12/2020 15:27

Thank you @Dogmom92
Thankfully all went really well at the dating scan. Did you end up getting a Harmony Test? I had a private early scan for reassurance but my husband is also in two minds about the Harmony as our dating scan looked positive and if the bloods come back low risk, is there any point really.. x

Dogmom92 · 18/12/2020 15:37

@Cressie2 good to hear about your scan!

I think we will wait until our 12 week scan in Jan to make a decision about the harmony test. For me - i am a worrier and my mind always goes to the worst case scenarios, so it would be a big reassurance - plus you can find out the gender a lot earlier! Then again .. its an expensive test and my husband isn't so sure about it (then again i do a lot more research!)

First baby and im just reading all these things and not sure what i should be considering! When it comes to buying things im going to be researching permenantly!
