Hi All,

Pregnant with baby number 1, due end of July 2021. Was hoping that we could get a thread going for those due around the same time (or sooner!) so that we can chat through our experiences and help others out. I am totally clueless so would love someone to chat to given we haven't announced yet (i am 7+3 today)!

@MSG92 Ah that's a good point actually, I'll go from the website - thank you!

Dogmom92 · 01/01/2021 09:29

@MSG92 is the downs syndrome test done as standard where you are? We are in NI and ive been trying to find info but it looks like they dont do it on the nhs here (im guessing they only do it if they suspect something around the 20 week scan.

MSG92 · 01/01/2021 09:31

@Dogmom92 yes, you can opt not to have the tests, there's 3 I can't remember what they are, you have a blood test and then an anomaly scan at 20 wks

Dogmom92 · 01/01/2021 09:43

I think that they dont really offer it here which is annoying - NI is always behind on services. Id like to know for peace of mind and if they wont offer it i would have to pay privately which is expensive!

Hi everyone. I am actually fue in june 2021. I am nearly 17 weeks but just wondering , does anyone get achey legs and arms? I have had it for nearly a week? X

SamoyedFan123 · 01/01/2021 10:43

@Dogmom92 if your hospital works the way mine does you will have your scan first and then be asked to go to the antenatal clinic. This part takes a while, You'll be weighed and have to give urine and blood samples and then you'll get asked lots of questions and the midwives will fill in loads of forms. They'll advise you on any extra tests or medication you might need after a risk assessment, eg. GD tests, aspirin, etc. You should then have the opportunity to ask any questions you have.

Dogmom92 · 01/01/2021 11:02

@SamoyedFan123 thanks! Can i ask where you are located? Im trying to figure out how the services in NI are differing from other uk and im really hoping i can find someone who is NI based who will have more info about our services.

@Dogmom92 I'm in Wales so can't be of much help there sorry

RachShad · 01/01/2021 22:28

I'm in North East England so can't help sorry! Do yous know if we stop taking vit D and folic acid after 12 weeks?

Dogmom92 · 01/01/2021 22:52

@RachShad im prescribed folic acid up to 14 weeks but from what ive read theres no harm in continuing taking it all throughout. Since many people take pregnacare throughout the whole pregnancy and it has folic acid included.

For me i havent yet bought it becuase my diet hasnt been impacted really but im thinking about getting some soon as vegetables are becoming less appealing to me Confused

Dogmom92 · 01/01/2021 22:53

Thankyou!

strawberrycherryblossom · 02/01/2021 08:46

@RachShad I've been taking the pregnacare plus tablets and will take them my entire pregnancy. Folic acid is only needed for the first 12 weeks but no harm carrying on.

MSG92 · 04/01/2021 22:58

MindyMalik · 04/01/2021 23:29

Hi ladies hope your all well and congratulations to all of you. I'm new to Mumsnet didn't use it with my other kids but having baby number 4. Estimated due date on 8th.......

Cressie2 · 04/01/2021 23:43

Good luck @MSG92 I’m sure it will be fine and you have nothing to worry about. Enjoy every minute! xx

SamoyedFan123 · 05/01/2021 06:22

@MSG92 Good luck today and enjoy!

I had my scan yesterday and all was fine 😊 got my date moved back by one day which I was totally expecting as baby has consistently been measuring 1 day behind since 6 weeks. Probably because it was a day 6 embryo not day 5. Unfortunately the photo is rubbish because baby refused to cooperate!

Due July 2021!
786Smiles · 05/01/2021 09:39

Hello, I’d love to join too. Congratulations to everyone. I am 13weeks due at the start of July. Super anxious after two miscarriages. 😢😢😢

MSG92 · 05/01/2021 14:05

Afternoon everyone, here is my scan!! Was absolutely amazing. Due 18th July. Saw baby swallow which was incredible, very lively. Looks pretty chunky 😂

Cressie2 · 05/01/2021 15:07

Congratulations @MSG92 and @SamoyedFan123
I have had my NHS scan and have a Harmony (NIPT) test next week so will get to see it again which is really nice. Has anyone got any new mum to be books they can recommend? Think I need to start reading up!

Have you had a scan yet @786Smiles? I’m sure you’ll be fine Daffodil

SamoyedFan123 · 05/01/2021 15:22

@MSG92 great news 😊 lovely photo too - much better than mine! You are exactly a week behind me then.

@Cressie2 I actually found the Bump, Baby and Beyond book that the midwives give out quite good.

Bluegem01 · 06/01/2021 02:03

Hello ladies, I would also love to join. I am due in July and am currently 12 + 5. I've had bad nausea, mediocre sickness and tiredness. Have had a few private scans but going for my dating scan with the NHS on Friday and so excited but also nervous as I just want baby to be healthy.

I've been put off certain foods and loving clementines - Amoy one else? Also loving salt and vinegar Pringles Smile.

This is my first baby so it's all new to me. My bump has popped, anyone else's?

I also had to buy a pregnancy pillow as I've been sleeping on my left since I found out (wanted everything to be fine) and my back was killing and it has been a game changer.

Mrslouu · 06/01/2021 07:27

@Cressie2 I found a free online course on future learn (linked to the open uni) called the journey to birth and written by midwives and professionals. So far it’s quite useful and just started week 2; 2 hours a week and lots of mini videos.
Due my first so I am hoping more information will make me a little less worried about the birth.

@Bluegem01 which shape of pillow did you go for, looking to buy one. I am 11 weeks this week and my bump is starting to show now, trying to disguise until after my 12 week is getting hard. Thankfully coincides with Christmas. 🤣

IwishIwasBrave · 06/01/2021 07:44

Hi, I am 12 wks 3 days and due on 20.07, on my birthday. This is my second baby. My first was a breeze to be pregnant with, even the birth was only 6 hrs with labour included. This time around I had nausea and fatigue, I guess the covid circumstances not help with mental health. I am happy, I m not sad. Just scared and sorry for the lack of sleep that awaits me lol. Scan booked on 19 jan.

Cressie2 · 06/01/2021 11:18

Thank you @SamoyedFan123 @Mrslouu

Both super recommendations and will look into them now. X
