Hi All,

Pregnant with baby number 1, due end of July 2021. Was hoping that we could get a thread going for those due around the same time (or sooner!) so that we can chat through our experiences and help others out. I am totally clueless so would love someone to chat to given we haven't announced yet (i am 7+3 today)!

OP posts:

Aw im glad your feeling bit better. At what stage do these symptoms usually get better haha?

RachShad · 29/12/2020 21:24

I can't remember not feeling sick either its bloody awful haha

libsgordon · 29/12/2020 21:25

Hi everyone! Just scrolling through Mumsnet for the first time as I’m 13 weeks pregnant (due the start of July) and feeling quite overwhelmed, and found this thread! I’m the first of my close friends to have a baby so am finding it a bit tough having no one to talk to about it all, so it’s reassuring to hea you’re all going through similar things. Hope you’re all doing ok and may go through and reply to some individual posts soon but just wanted to introduce myself for now.

x

@MillyJS

My nausea's also still constant. I can't remember what it feels like to not feel sick 😂

I got a letter this morning from the blood transfusion dept at my local hospital informing me I'm rhesus negative blood type so require additional injections during and after pregnancy. I've never heard of this before so had a major panic but after some Googling it sounds mostly precautionary.

I still don't have an NHS scan date (I'm 10 +4) so hoping I get that through soon!

Really hoping symptoms ease off for us all soon 🤞🏻

Hi @MillyJS just wanted to say RE nausea that although I think it’s different for everyone, my nausea went away pretty much exactly when I hit 12 weeks! I know some people have it all the way through but wanted to offer some reassurance that it may stop quite suddenly - I went from feeling awful and being in bed all day to suddenly feeling fine. Fingers crossed the same happens for you!
Janethat · 29/12/2020 22:20

I have forgotten what its like to cook a meal and not nearly be sick in it all ha ha oh and also enjoy food would be nice too 🤣 but I will look forward to the day it subsides and I can start to enjoy all the fun that lies ahead 🎊

MillyJS · 29/12/2020 23:04

Thanks @libsgordon, fingers' crossed!

I'm finding pregnancy quite lonely (partly due to lockdowns etc & not working in the office, plus we haven't told anyone yet as we want to wait until after our first scan) so it's nice to be able to hear others in the same boat 😊

Janethat · 31/12/2020 12:48

We have only told my parents as with Christmas they noticed I wasn't drinking 🤣 we haven't told the children yet or anyone else also awaiting our scan, which I still haven't got a date for so I'm not sure whether or not to chase it or not?.🤔

RachShad · 31/12/2020 14:06

@Janethat how far are you now? Yeah maybe chase it up if your concerned you should have had a letter by now. But also its been Christmas too so maybe wait until the first week of January it may come through then.
Also,
Has anyone else been feeling SOOOO hungry? Like I actually feel as though I need to eat every single second of the day or I feel sickly. Its so strange and wondering if anyone else has felt the same and this has stopped for them? I'm only 12 weeks and going to be looking like a hippo before I even get a bump or anything haha

Janethat · 31/12/2020 14:19

@RachShad I'm 10wks 3 days. I struggling to eat as I feel sick all the time 😩

RachShad · 31/12/2020 14:24

Aw mind I was like that too at about 10 weeks but fast forward to 12 weeks I still do feel very sick on a morning and then by dinner time I'm normally okay-ish but then I need to eat, and basically when I stop eating I feel more sick again its so strange I feel like there's no filling me

SamoyedFan123 · 31/12/2020 14:53

@RachShad after the first 3 weeks or so of being unable to eat anything at all i then was exactly like you - the only thing that eased the sickness was eating and I was putting on loads of weight 😭 annoyingly while eating made me feel better, ten minutes later I would feel even more sick! Conveniently corona virus came along 2 weeks ago and put a serious dampener on the appetite so I've stopped putting on weight now, and today I'm finally feeling better but I'm almost 13 weeks now and the nausea has really eased off so appetite is back to normal levels.

SamoyedFan123 · 31/12/2020 14:54

I definitely have a new roll of fat that wasn't there 6 weeks ago though is probably going to get told off by the midwife on Monday when I go for my scan and clinic appt. Grin

RachShad · 31/12/2020 15:06

@SamoyedFan123 omg bless you! I had the virus in May time so I'm hoping i won't get it again! I can't imagine that on top of this sickness its bad enough! I hope your feeling better now, glad to hear your getting back to normal though. Im 12 weeks now so hoping for another couple weeks and il be back to normal as well, the first trimester really is the worst thing I've probably ever been through if im honest. I've never been so physically and mentally exhausted 🙈 and as for weight dont worry!! As long as your feeling better just focus on keeping yourself safe and healthy, the weight can be shifted once baby is here haha

SamoyedFan123 · 31/12/2020 15:24

@RachShad I know exactly what you mean - i am absolutely terrified of catching this virus again now, when I was fairly relaxed about it before tbh. Really hoping that I'll have some immunity now as the last two weeks of covid on top of first trimester misery have been sheer hell. Today is the first day I've felt almost human for two weeks so 🤞🤞🤞 that I'm finally over it!

RachShad · 31/12/2020 15:44

Ah great ill keep my fingers crossed for you too! Keep us informed

MSG92 · 31/12/2020 17:03

@SamoyedFan123 and @RachShad I had constant nausea for about 3 weeks after I got rid of covid 😂then 2.5weeks ago all symptoms stopped, then 2 days ago, the nausea is back!!! I get what you mean, the only time I haven't felt sick today is when I'm stuffing my face! However, I satisfied a big craving today, used to have white bread sandwiches with chicken slices when I was little, but I've been vegetarian for over 5 years now, so I bought some chicken free chicken slices and omg it's the best thing I've eaten in 10 weeks 😂 I had 2!!! But now I feel sick again.
Only 4 days until my scan now 😁😁😁

RachShad · 31/12/2020 17:07

@MSG92 awww the nausea is literally awful isnt it! Its the worst thing. I've figured anything can be better than this now cos you can't do day to day things it just makes life hard! Good luck with the scan! I had mine 2 days ago it was amazing and definitely makes you relax abit. Let's hope going into trimester 2 is better for us 🤞🤞

SamoyedFan123 · 31/12/2020 17:10

@MSG92 is your scan on Monday too?

I ate pickled onions and boursin cheese for breakfast yesterday, it was the only thing I could face 🤣🤣 plus pickles and curry are the only things i can taste since covid 😳

MSG92 · 31/12/2020 17:20

@RachShad I felt fine for a couple of weeks so have been so worried, so as awful as nausea is at least I felt like I was still pregnant.

@SamoyedFan123 mine is Tuesday, I'm only counting full days 😂

MillyJS · 31/12/2020 18:14

Hope all your scans go well! I don't have mine until 15th Jan which feels like a lifetime away but hopefully going back to work on Monday will make time go a bit faster 🙈 My letter does say I have to attend alone though which conflicts with the advice on their website - has everyone else been able to take a partner?

SamoyedFan123 · 31/12/2020 20:34

@MillyJS my letter says I can take a partner, however no children are allowed so he's going to have to stay at home to look after our 19mo twins since they're not able to go to their grandparents for childcare now 😭 he's gutted.

MillyJS · 31/12/2020 21:51

@SamoyedFan123 Ah that's such a shame! It's our first & I feel really bad for my husband that he might miss it but I'll call beforehand just to check the rules just incase they've changed.

strawberrycherryblossom · 01/01/2021 07:42

@SamoyedFan123 I had my dating scan this week and went alone as we didn't have childcare. They were absolutely lovely in the hospital. I know in an ideal world you'd have a partner with you but it was absolutely fine. I just got lots of pictures.

Dogmom92 · 01/01/2021 08:55

My scan isnt until the 14th (12 weeks exactly). My husband is allowed to come and will be. For us here it is the first appointment altogether, i know many of you had a midwife app and the scan separately? Im not really sure what to expect as they said it can take up to 2 hours - anyone got any tips/advice about what we should research if we want to ask questions etc at this point?

OP posts:
MSG92 · 01/01/2021 09:15

@MillyJS my letter said my DH couldn't come, but it was sent before the government announcement so I checked the website and that says that he can come. I'd go off the website as the guidance changed a few weeks ago to allow birth partners for pre natal appts.

@Dogmom92 my MW appt was about 40 minutes, we went through the pregnancy booklet stuff, did BP, full bloods and a urine test. Then at my scan I've been told another blood and some forms about the downs tests etc.
