Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

@BaaHumbugg how did your scan go? All was okay at mine thank god!

Has anyone been offered the whooping cough vaccine yet and if so are you having it or not? Would love to know people's thoughts 🤔

Boys names are hard we had a girls name we've liked for years but I'm so glad we've found one we like now I'm sure you'll all find one soon don't worry!

doritodiva · 08/12/2020 20:21

I'm having a boy and really struggling with names

blodyn91 · 08/12/2020 20:30

@firsttimemomtobex yes had the wooping cough and flue vaccine. A family friend caught wooping cough when he was a few weeks old and struggled for his life! Its acctually impacted his eye sight.

firsttimemomtobex · 08/12/2020 20:44

@blodyn91 did you have any side effects from the whooping cough? Sorry just seen loads of negative stuff about it online but don't know if it's just scaremongering

Rh8781 · 08/12/2020 20:47

@firsttimemomtobex I’ve had the flu and whooping cough last Monday. No side effects from either except for a very sore arm for 4 or 5 days from the whooping cough. My midwife was very insistent that I got it and having read a bit into it, it was a no brainer for me.

firsttimemomtobex · 08/12/2020 20:56

@Rh8781 was the whooping cough painful? I'm absolutely terrible with needles but if it's going to help the little one l'll definitely get it, I hadn't heard about it until today so told them I wanted to think about it first so I could do some research about it

MinnieWebs · 08/12/2020 20:58

@firsttimemomtobex glad your scan went well.
I’m getting the whooping cough vaccine next week, friends who’ve had it have only said about a slightly sore arm. The risks of not having it scared me more.

Rh8781 · 08/12/2020 21:01

@firsttimemomtobex No more painful than a normal vaccination Smile

BoJingle · 08/12/2020 21:04

@firsttimemomtobex I had whooping cough a couple of weeks ago. The jab itself was fine. I woke up with a sore arm which was a little swollen. No other side effects though and I didn't have any problems in my first pregnancy. What have you read?

@blodyn91

We have our baby boy name picked 🤭☺️ OH got his way really, I really wanted Idris, but then warmed up to his idea.

Over the past few days baby has been moving a lot less, was starting to worry, then todays he's kicked the shit out of me 😅

I've ran out of my spatone iron supplements a week back, now Im constantly knackered 🤦🏼‍♀️ ordered more today. 2nd trimester been a lot harder than 1st for me.

@GreySkyClouds what kind of pain are you in? I asked for a referral a week back as I was in agony after running, but midwife said I just needed ryo slow down 😒 So had to give up running at 20 weeks 😭 but now the same lain is sort of making an appearance when Ive been walking for ages.

Hopefully thus helps: www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pelvic-pain-pregnant-spd/

Walking is a challenge. I don’t think I could run.

GreySkyClouds · 08/12/2020 22:31

Whooping cough, and first consultant appointment, is booked in for jan (6m)

Springersprung · 08/12/2020 23:14

Hi all,

I'm 23 weeks today, due 6th April. Have 1dd already, who is 2. Am also considered high risk OP, due in part to underlying health condition and partly due to previous c-section after concerns about placenta whilst baby was in breech position.

Hadn't even noticed that 25 weeks wasn't strictly necessary for us, so am booked in, but if anything like 16 weeks, am expecting it to be largely pointless.

Have an anterior placenta like lots of you, so movements are erratic. Was being booted loads yesterday after worrying a bit the day before that I couldn't feel as much. But yes, all my guidance says not to worry too much about movement tracking until 28 weeks.

SunnySideUp2020 · 09/12/2020 06:26

@firsttimemomtobex
I had flu one at 16w but whooping cough wasnt offered where i am.
Not in UK (moved in March).
But if it was offered I'd take it.

Ttwinksy · 09/12/2020 07:58

Definitely have the whooping cough vaccine - its not for you, its for your baby. If infants catch whooping cough early on in life if can be really dangerous for them.
I had mine around 18 weeks, literally didn't even feel the needle! No sore arm at all ( was advised to have it on the side I don't sleep on - more likely to be sore if you're lying on it all night).

Also finally managed to get a flu vaccine about a week ago, again no side effects. Was so difficult to get one though! Seriously like flippin gold dust this year. Flu in your third trimester can be quite serious, for some reason it really affects heavily pregnant women badly. Just not worth the risks to me to not have it I think.

My advice - do it Smile

blodyn91 · 09/12/2020 13:03

@firsttimemomtobex I had flue in one arm, wooping in the other- maybe have them on separate days as I could not sleep due to sore arms on each side 🤦🏼‍♀️ I wouldn't say being tired and sore are side affects to be worried about when its for the health of your baby though.
There is a lot of scare mongering going on especially now with the covid one. I would 100% go for wooping cough. Even if you are terrified of needles. I think its safe for me to say anyone who has struggled with ttc would take an injection every day for that bfp.

LuckyFlash · 09/12/2020 13:10

Agreed - I had both jabs and felt fine. It’s more for the baby than you.

Btw does anyone know if we have any more routine scans after 20wks? I have had mine and next appointment is a phone one at 25 weeks (which I’m sure will be as pointless as the 16 week one where I just asked questions I had already answered). The midwife said after that all my appointments will be in person but looking on the NHS website it just seems to be a lot of going in to have your belly measured unless there’s any complications - is that right?

MsHedgehog · 09/12/2020 13:14

@LuckyFlash

It depends on your trust. Most hospitals do just the 12 and 20 weeks scans. Mine also does a 36 week scan so I do have another scan booked in for March.

Otherwise it’s just consultant and midwife appointments.

MsHedgehog · 09/12/2020 13:15

I had the flu jab a couple of months ago through work, and my arm was sore and swollen for days.

I had the whooping cough jab last week, and I was completely fine after.

blodyn91 · 09/12/2020 13:18

@LuckyFlash 20 week was my last one unless I need growth scans.
At 24 weeks I acctually have a MW appointment in person! so taking a urine sample with me and getting blood pressure done. I also need to go back at 28 weeks for Anti D injection as Im O negative blood group.

Ttwinksy · 09/12/2020 13:36

Yep 20 week scan was my last too, unless I need any growth scans later on. Am lucky in that all my midwife appts are in-person. I quite look forward to them actually as its nice to hear the heartbeat on the doppler. Other than that they do a urine test (I think for GD), blood pressure, and I assume will also start measuring bump soon too. Also gives me a chance to ask questions seeing as its the only contact I have with the midwife in my area!!

BaaHumbugg · 09/12/2020 14:38

I have another scan around 34 weeks or so, it must be different round this way too. Is anyone else starting to feel a bit massive now? I've managed in my regular jeans up until now, don't want to give in to the ugly maternity gear again Grin

Ttwinksy · 09/12/2020 15:13

@baahumbugg You're doing well! I've been out of my regular jeans since about week 10!! (though that was mostly bloat...). Been living in maternity leggings for months now...thankfully working from home so getting away with the "day pyjama" look Grin

Definitely no hiding this bump any more....

MsHedgehog · 09/12/2020 15:46

I gave into maternity jeans two weeks ago, at week 21. Until then it was my normal jeans, although I gradually loosened my belt and then kept the button open.

When I had to start keeping my fliers open, I realised I should start buying maternity clothes!

MinnieWebs · 09/12/2020 15:48

I’m the same, so grateful for working from home this whole time and being able to live in my maternity leggings!

No hiding my bump either and my belly button is on its way out too which feels bizarre...

MsHedgehog · 09/12/2020 15:58

@MinnieWebs

Yes re belly button! It's not on its way out per se, but I have an old surgical scar which starts above my belly button all the way down, so I have quite a bit of an indent in the area surrounding my belly button. I always thought the indent would still be there even when I'm pregnant so I'll never get the proper round bump, but I am, and it's so exciting!
