Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.
@LucieStar hopefully she will turn as you still have plenty of time!

I'm so tired today feel like I could sleep for a week!
I hope so!

Does anyone else have a breech little one?

Catlady21 · 03/03/2021 15:02

@LucieStar this one was breech until around 32 weeks. My first baby was breech until 36+ weeks. I had her at 37 weeks and she had turned herself within those few days.

MinnieWebs · 03/03/2021 15:12

@LucieStar my baby is currently breech still and back to back. I’m 35 weeks. There’s still time for her to turn. My midwife said to get on the ball and do the spinning babies exercises.
I’ve got a growth scan on Saturday so will be able to see if she’s moved!

bunhead34 · 03/03/2021 15:43

@Inkpaperstars I am on omeprazole too - what a god send!
Out of interest what dosage are
You on? I'm on 20mg a day but feeling like it isn't enough anymore 🔥

Inkpaperstars · 03/03/2021 16:07

@bunhead34 I know! If I couldn’t take it I have no idea what I would do!

I started out on 20mg a day but the doctor said if that started to not be enough, take the 20mg twice a day eg am and pm. I am starting to do that now.

I'm having regular growth scans as they were worried she was small, I've got my next one at 36 weeks. I'd better get doing some exercises to get her to turn! 😬

flappityflippers1 · 03/03/2021 18:25

Thanks all ❤️

Hope all the breech babies turn soon! I was going to mention spinning babies x

blodyn91 · 04/03/2021 12:19

heyy, not been on for a few weeks. Moved house 🥳 but o my gosh, it was overwhelming! My whole routine had been disturbed, wfh has been impossible as all I want to do now is prep for baby! Going to buy paint tomorrow as Im off and paint the nursery, and then wash clothes over the weekend if its sunny.
Feeling very good re energy, but just no motivation for work 😫 the new guy who is coving my mat leave starts next week, so should be a fun few weeks with him. Officially only 12 days left spread over March.
Had 34 w appointment on Monday, baby is in perfect position so hopefully he stays head down and bum to belly. My bump hadn't grown much though so got sent for a growth scan, but he was estimated at 5lbs10 (9th centile) so not small! But because of my bump growth slowing I still have to be scanned at 38w.

Ttwinksy · 04/03/2021 14:56

So I had a midwife appt yesterday, and had bump measurement taken...But she wasn't my regular midwife and weirdly she measured it in a totally different way to my usual lady..this one measured from sooooo low down that her hand was practically on my fanjo!! She said it was normal measurement for gestation. However...

My previous midwife had been recording a slight slowing of bump progression in previous appointments and said if it continued to slow she'd send me for a scan. But of course now this different midwife's measurement will have been a good few cm longer than my other midwife would have measured it. So now bit worried. Not much I can do I guess except wait another two weeks for my regular midwife to measure it in her usual (less personal) manner....
Anyone else had issues with being measured by different midwives in different ways like that?! Just makes me not trust the system/results at all...seems so subjective!

MinnieWebs · 04/03/2021 15:09

@Ttwinksy yes! I had the exact same with a new midwife measuring in a different way. My bump had been measuring on the week I was for all my previous appointments with my usual midwife, saw a new midwife and she measured me 3cm extra - also going way lower than the usual one does.
I agree it is very subjective, the new midwife even said that it’s probably down to measuring technique.

clb8921 · 04/03/2021 15:22

@Ttwinksy yep same problem here. My ‘regular’ midwife (saw her at booking appt and had 16 week phone call) retired without me knowing. I’ve now seen a different midwife every time which is not ideal. The first bump measurement, the midwife practically put her hand through my pubic bone (it actually hurt) and spent ages doing it. Second time, it was over in a flash. Went from being slightly under the 50th centile to slightly over. I can’t say I trust it much at all! Thankfully I have a scan next week at 34+2 weeks to check placenta position, so at least I may get a rough idea of size then.

Ttwinksy · 04/03/2021 16:00

Glad its not just me! And yes to it actually hurting when she measured from the pubic bone - felt like saying, is there any actual NEED for you to press that hard?! Not helpful with spd....
Also feeling bruised from her feeling which way around baby is. She was so rough! Bit relieved to be going back to my usual lady next time I have to say Confused

flappityflippers1 · 04/03/2021 17:23

My bump measurements have been a little bit, erm, personal!

I would say to ring your regular midwife to see if she can pop over for a quick double check.

I always thought fundal height meaurements were a load of shite - but it was that which picked up my DS's stopped growth bang on 40 weeks, and it turned out the placenta was failing Shock had it not been picked up, he wouldn't have survived (born by crash section the day after the growth scan!)

Wavesandsmilesencore · 04/03/2021 17:30

The bump measurements do sound so subjective. Over here it’s not a done thing but I do have a quick scan each time. Today I was told that the baby had a really big head “but oh well, he will be coming out”.... yikes! I have my next appointment in 2 weeks then it will be weekly until delivery which seems so often, but it’s the standard process. I had some lovely photos from today which my kids were really excited to see 😊.

Flyingfrogspawn · 04/03/2021 18:24

I'm confused about estimated weight and growth charts. Had 34 weeks growth scan and my baba was measuring 5lb 12 oz. But on growth chart she's barely over 50th centile. Confused but seems to be on bigger size

flappityflippers1 · 04/03/2021 18:54

They're definitely not precise, my bump is measuring 50th centile, yet at growth scans he isn't even on the chart - it's more about consistency with the bump measurements which is why it's best to always have the same person do it for the same style of measuring.

It doesn't matter if the bump measurement is 'out' from how baby is when they're born, but it's there to pick up if bump stops growing, which can indicate an issue with placenta or blood flow (those were our problems with DS)

A lot of people say the growth scans are way out too, but I've only ever known them to be really accurate with people I know!

I think the way it's done with @Wavesandsmilesencore is much better!

TheViewOutsideMyWindow · 04/03/2021 19:10

Gosh @flappityflippers1 so glad your measurements picked up baby's lack of growth in time. How terrifying!

I never held out much regard for them, but hearing that I do now.

I had a growth scan with my first, they estimated 9 to 10lb at 40 wks when I had my scan at 36. She arrived at 39 wks weighing 7lb! Hadn't stopped growing, just was smaller than expected.

flappityflippers1 · 04/03/2021 19:24

I can't remember what they estimated DS to be, it's all a massive blur haha!

I've just had a look at my notes, and if he continues growing the way he has been, he will be about 5 1/2 lb when born at 37 weeks. I may need some more tiny baby babygrows!

BaaHumbugg · 04/03/2021 19:37

@flappityflippers ahh that's so tiny! My DD was just over 6 lbs so don't expect this one to be much bigger, although I feel a lot bigger!

Inkpaperstars · 04/03/2021 19:40

I am 35 weeks and have only had my bump measured once. I have only had two face to face midwife appointments, all the rest were on the phone. I have had a fair few extra scans though so hopefully that would pick up growth issues.

I've a growth scan on Tuesday as baby dropped from 90th to 50th centile whereas my other two were consistently 90th both were 7lbs 2 and 7lbs 5 I haven't seen a midwife at all as I'm consultant lead as I've a heart condition to. They said to keep an eye on baby's movements but they're in a perfect environment but if they have dropped or slowed again on Tuesday they will be looking at induction I'll be 36 weeks on Tuesday so I keep telling myself at 37 weeks they're classed as full term so everything should be ok. My son showed up at 38 weeks at 7lbs 2 he's now 6 and already in 7-8 clothes so I'm trying to to get to worried.

Inkpaperstars · 05/03/2021 14:36

@tinatsarina

Three babies in my wider family born at 36 weeks, they were and are all fine. I know we all hope to go on a bit longer! All three were fine as I say, one did get readmitted a few days after birth for jaundice as had to go under the lamps for a while but was then fine. I don’t even know if that had to do with being early.

LuckyFlash · 05/03/2021 15:17

What have people’s experiences of Brixton hicks been like? Just after breakfast this morning I got a pain in my upper abdomen that I initially thought was heartburn but then spread across my whole belly. It lasted about a minute and was about a 6 on the pain scale. I thought it might have been BH but then reading about them it doesn’t seem like it as I had no tightening feeling and it was painful rather than just uncomfortable.
All has been fine since so can’t have been an actual contraction.
Anyone had anything similar?

Ttwinksy · 05/03/2021 15:29

I'm not really sure if I've experienced BH or not. A few times I've felt a sudden onset of feeling like I might need to run to the bathroom (that sort of general abdominal pain you get if you've got a dodgy belly), and it does seem to coincide with my stomach feeling quite solid. Only ever lasts a minute or so and then goes away. But could also easily be my poor restricted digestive system trying its hardest to keep going Blush
