Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

I’ve not posted on this thread before, I was due in April and technically that is still my due date but it looks like they definitely aren’t going to let me go the full way so it’s looking like March now.

Just wanted to say @MsHedgehog I saw this video the other day as I kind of liked the look of the Chico Hug thingy but noticed a lot of negative feedback in the comments which has put me off it for now.

We live in a small flat so one daytime sleeping option might be to get a snuzpod and just carry the top bit through to other rooms for daytime, but I am not sure if a snuzpod is going to be suitable for us after all.

BoJingle · 27/01/2021 07:40

@sequincola My baby is on the list to start nursery Jan 2022. It's easy for me though as it's the nursery DD goes to. Wait lists are long though around here at good nurseries.

@inkpaperstars Same here. I'm due April but likely to be induced March

@BoJingle I have recently been diagnosed with GD too, you have my commiserations, it’s rubbish!

CheshireeeCattt · 27/01/2021 11:20

Ugh, sounds like GD is just a lottery - like the size or gender of your baby! Sorry to hear you've had such a tough time of it!

We got a second hand Purflo, which I quite literally boiled in Vanish and NappySan, then washed on the hottest it says without shrinking it - I was told this is the best way of getting a) germs out, b) any milk sick stains out and c) I wouldn't be able to use it without knowing it had been sanitised to within an inch of its life!

We got one with a spare cover for only £10, which was fab. It's meant to be good for daytime naps and tummy time in future (supposedly!)

doritodiva · 27/01/2021 11:51

@MsHedgehog I'm really struggling with sleep as it's hurting my hips so so much. I can't stay in one place all night either. I get a pain going up my back on the side. I've tried having a pillow between my legs but it doesn't seem to make a difference. You have my sympathies. If you find a cure then let me know!

firsttimemomtobex · 27/01/2021 21:47

My community midwife hasn't mentioned GD to me yet, does everyone get tested for it or not? I'm so confused!

I chose a hospital which is a different trust to my community midwife and it's been a nightmare, they never updated my blood results so only found out today I'm a negative blood type and have to have the Anti-D injection! Has anyone else had it yet? Dreading how painful it will be but obviously it's a necessity! Got my appointment a week on Monday 😬

BoJingle · 27/01/2021 22:03

@firsttimemomtobex No not everybody gets tested, it's if you have certain risk factors. I think they are BMI, family history, previous baby over 4.5kg and ethnicity. Or symptoms of course.

I had to have it because DD weighed more than 4.5kg.

I have the same problem with midwives and trusts. I chose the same hospital i used last time, I've moved towns between babies but the town I live in doesn't have a maternity hospital. The hospital I'm using is equal driving time from my house to the default hospital yet they seem to really struggle with the concept.

SequinCola · 27/01/2021 22:09

@firsttimemomtobex I've got negative blood too. Had my Anti D last week. It's not painful, it feels really cold going in but no sore arm or anything after. Make sure you go in if you have any bleeding or take a blow to your bump or anything, you might need another jab (I had one at 19 weeks after a small bleed).

My hospital is within the same trust, but they still don’t share information!
firsttimemomtobex · 28/01/2021 08:49

@BoJingle ah okay thankyou! Well when we moved out of our parents we moved about 20 minutes away but I've heard horrible things about our closest hospital maternity unit so I chose the one closer to our parents as apparently it's way nicer..

@SequinCola that's not too bad then, midwife said my arm may go numb or tingle I'm just so crap with needles I'm dreading it 😔

@GreySkyClouds my community midwife trust still uses paper notes but I don't get any as my hospital uses the app but they didn't update the app with my 12 week booking bloods until I went yesterday for my 28 week ones and specifically asked them to because my midwife told me to which is why I've only just found out about my negative blood type.. all abit ridiculous really as if I hadn't asked I'd have probably missed my Anti-D injection completely!

BaaHumbugg · 28/01/2021 10:10

I had my 28 week appointment yesterday but couldn't get any blood out of me, always have this problem! I have some extra scans coming up too, I'm not sure why other than my daughter was small so maybe that's it. I don't mind though happy to get out of the house haha!

Ickli · 28/01/2021 13:27

How have people measured in terms of fundal height (the bump measurement)? I had my first today and measured above the 97th percentile. My midwife told me not to worry, as often the measurements don't link directly to birth weight for various reasons - so I'm not stressed, but a bit intrigued.

CheshireeeCattt · 28/01/2021 13:54

Had my GD test this week - hardest bit was giving her enough blood, because my blood pressure is low - she was very shocked when my blood just stopped coming out - even though I warned her! They did take the 28 week bloods and my Anti-D blood checks at the same time though, so I think they took 5 vials...!

Luckily, no diabetes for me - but I did have some concerns. The drink gave me terrible heartburn though.

Had my Anti-D injection today, I strongly suggest wriggling your fingers of the arm they are using and breathing in as they put the needle in, then breathing out as they push in the fluid - honestly I find that I'm so focused on wriggling and breathing, I notice the injection less, but it is a very quick injection and I didn't feel any coldness myself.

@Ickli bump measurement for me came back as 'normal', bang in the middle of the measurements... but this did make me feel somewhat concerned about baby potentially being a bit small, seeing as I've put just over 2 stone on and I'm sure some of what they measured could be fat? However, the amount of people I see where the measurements may as well have been plucked from thin air, I would really say try not to worry - though easier said that done. Apparently people measure differently on the same day, depending on who measures them!

BlueberryPancake21 · 28/01/2021 14:17

@Ickli I measured right on 95th percentile. MW said don't worry - it's about how it progresses not the actual measurement. I feel like I've eaten really badly over Xmas after having lost loads of weight in 1st trimester due to MS so probably a lot of that is fat! Also bump is completely at the front which I assume must give a bigger measurement? Most of my friends who've been PG carried some of the extra weight at the side but if you look at me head on you wouldn't have a clue. Measurement seems to have very limited correlation with baby weight in any case.

@firsttimemomtobex I don't understand how they can have such different systems and no process to link them! When I went to my booking appointment I wanted to choose a certain hospital that was more convenient and had a better reputation but my midwife basically said that because they were online but the county I live in isn't she strongly recommended I didn't and told me I would have to be constantly phoning people to get my own records updated because they don't have time to do that kind of admin as a MW service. I ended up going with my "local" hospital (who have been fab in fairness). Ridiculous that they give you the choice if it doesn't work!

Ickli · 28/01/2021 14:24

Thanks @cheshireeecattt and @BlueberryPancake21.
My bump is also "forward" rather than sideways so that might be something!

CheshireeeCattt · 28/01/2021 14:29

@Ickli

Thanks *@cheshireeecattt and @BlueberryPancake21*. My bump is also "forward" rather than sideways so that might be something!
Ooooh, same! Someone at work didn't know I was pregnant, and they were stood behind me, then I turned around and their eyes nearly fell out of their head when my massive bump showed itself!

When they measure you next time, you may actually find your percentile changes, as people measure differently and if you're having a bloated/fat/haven't pooped day, you could measure bigger too.

If you're really worried, I'm sure giving your MW a call to discuss it again would help Flowers

GreySkyClouds · 28/01/2021 16:08

Had a scan and measurements are bang in the middle, st 28 weeks.

Have put on 10 pounds so far.

BaaHumbugg · 29/01/2021 05:56

I am really struggling now with being uncomfortable and not sleeping! Anyone the same? Feels like time is dragging now! I remember feeling the same way about this point in my last pregnancy but this time feels so much worse as I have my DD and can't rest during the day!

LuckyFlash · 29/01/2021 16:05

@BaaHumbugg yes! In the last two weeks especially things just seem to have got really hard. Random pains, more tired, sooo uncomfortable in the evenings. I’m not even that big yet. I almost feel bad with all the complaining I’m doing to DH. With 10 weeks left I don’t want to use up all his sympathy too early haha (he’s being great tbf)
We just accepted an offer on our flat and are now looking for a house to buy so I’ve just added a whole heap of stress into the end of my pregnancy lol

clb8921 · 29/01/2021 16:37

I am the same. Really started to notice the aches and pains and general uncomfortable feeling in the last week or so! What am I going to be like in 10 weeks 🙈

BaaHumbugg · 29/01/2021 19:18

I remember this point being hard last time and then it kind of got better towards the end which is weird! Hopefully it's the same this time.

It's so annoying isn't it you just can't get comfortable whatever you do! I don't feel like there is any room left to grow either but I know it's going to get worse haha.

I have an extra scan on Monday so I'm going to ask them if they think this one will be early if they don't say yes I will cry Grin

Rh8781 · 30/01/2021 09:11

Has anyone noticed any changes in the type of movement they’re getting? A few weeks ago it was lots of kicks but since I hit 30 weeks it’s been A LOT of rolling movement which is like waves across my belly.

I’ve spoken to the midwife about it; she isn’t concerned since my pattern and frequency hasn’t changed, and says it’s because the baby is getting bigger it’s the beginning of him running out of room (I’m only 4 foot 11 and was told at the start of my pregnancy things would be a bit more squished due to my short torso)

BoJingle · 30/01/2021 09:35

Yes @rh8781 I am getting lots of rolling too. It feels like the baby is completely changing position and it's uncomfortable at times. I went to bed the other night and could have sworn I felt a foot/hand digging in the side I was laying on 😳 I had to wiggle around to move the baby. I also had a few days this week where my bump felt really tight and stretched but that's gone away for now.

OP posts:
Rh8781 · 30/01/2021 09:46

@BoJingle Same here for tightening! I had some very mild braxton hicks the other day (FTM so didn’t know what they were at first but midwife confirmed that’s what I felt) and my bump went so uncomfortably tight.

I think I’ve had a foot poke up once or twice but typically it’s never at a time when my husband is around to feel/see it!

BaaHumbugg · 30/01/2021 09:47

Same here and the kicks are a lot stronger now! I don't like when it feels tight like you can't breathe, it's horrible!
