Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

Hi @catlady21, welcome! Do you know what you're having? I'm hoping this one will be early as my DD was Wink

Catlady21 · 23/01/2021 20:49

Thank you for the welcome!

No, we didn't find out, love the surprise. We didn't find out with the first two either.

UnicornAndSparkles · 25/01/2021 16:29

Afternoon ladies. Nothing much to report here but for another dull day in lockdown, wfh. Fortunately the 3yo is at preschool. Im not sure how risky that is but its given us some mental headspace and the ability to actually wfh.

Feeling absolutely huge and starting to get really uncomfortable. Im using a support belt come the evening on most days, even walking is a struggle. Gaaah I cant wait to get this baby out. 12 more weeks...

Maybe3ornot · 25/01/2021 17:13

I went for a growth scan last week at 28weeks and baby is measuring 97th centile, 3lb 6oz! Got tested for diabetes and I am normal. My bump is small so hiding baby well. Gps messed my midwife appointment up so not seeing her until Wednesday but just wondered if anyone in same position and what did midwife advise? Will I get more growth scans? This is my 3rd baby, my second was 10lb 9oz

LuckyFlash · 25/01/2021 18:12

@Maybe3ornot no direct experience (I was worried my baby was too small as my bump is little but was measured at my appointment the other day and was 52nd percentile so clearly bump size and baby size don’t correlate) but two friends who recently had babies were measuring very big (98th percentile) and then after a scan were told the size was within the 50th/60th percentile. I don’t really see how they can make an accurate measurement using a tape measure! I imagine you will get a growth scan to check but try not to worry too much

@UnicornAndSparkles do you find the band helps? I’m considering getting one as my back pain is really bad but not sure if it’s worth the investment. 11 weeks feels like such a long time and yet so little time when I think about buying something lol

BaaHumbugg · 25/01/2021 18:32

Nothing much to report here either, I have my 28 week appointment this week too.

@maybe3ornot I'm sure you'll be offered more growth scans, especially if your last was over 10lb

I have nothing sorted at all here and my house is a complete mess! Need the kids to go back to school if I have any chance or getting organised Grin

Hey I went for a private 4d scan at the weekend, I'm almost 30weeks. I didn't get a 28 week appointment. Baby was also measuring on the 97th percentile at 3lb 11oz. I had a test for GD with my first who was 9lb6 but have been told I don't need one this time round?? I have a growth scan at the hospital this week so will see what they say then. I'm assuming we'll be seen every 2 weeks but also not sure. I'm just grateful to get any appointment, I've not seen anyone swings the beginning of December, and even then I got the trainee midwife.
BabyB22021 · 25/01/2021 18:35

*since not swings!

MsHedgehog · 25/01/2021 22:03

I'm struggling with sleeping - my hips and legs during the night are just agony! It's fine as soon as I get up and during the day, so I think it's just the extra weight when I'm lying on my side.

I guess the disrupted sleep is a sign of what's to come!

I know I've asked before, but what is everyone doing for day time sleeping? I don't want to use the bassinet from the pram, and I've read that they grow out of Moses baskets quite quickly, so I have no idea what to get!

BaaHumbugg · 26/01/2021 09:40

I'm struggling with sleeping too, just wide awake for no reason most of the time! I'm sure it's your bodies way of preparing as I remember last time I slept better when baby was here!

I used a moses basket for daytime sleeping before, then the sofa/pram/my bed/cot ! No wonder my daughter never slept in her own bed hey!

GreySkyClouds · 26/01/2021 12:11

Why don’t you want to use the bassinet?

Current plan is to use the next to me and bloom high chair.

GreySkyClouds · 26/01/2021 12:12

@BoJingle

My 28 week appointment was supposed to be today but I had to cancel it for a hospital appointment instead. I was diagnosed with GD last week 😑

@Mimba1 my DD was born on 99th centile 🤭

Welcome to the new joiners Smile

How are you finding things with the GD?

Hope you’re feeling okay b

MsHedgehog · 26/01/2021 13:21

@GreySkyClouds No particular reason - I would just rather have a separate sleeping thing for the day time. The bassinet on the crib is something to be used outside and I don't like the idea of using it inside. I'm being precious, I know! Especially as we don't even have that much space!

I was looking at the Chicco Hug 4in1. I'm getting the Next to Me for night time sleeping, and saw a really good package which includes the Hug 4in1, but was looking into whether there is anything else.

UnicornAndSparkles · 26/01/2021 14:06

Afternoon ladies,

RE the support belt, I do find it helps. I only paid around £12 from amazon. Well worth it i think, even with only 2.5/3 months left.

Im sure you would be offered more growth scans if your previous baby was big? I only had one during my last pregnancy, much later on. They estimated 9 to 10lb. She was born just under 7lb!

For day sleep we have a moses basket that we used overnight with our first. It was rubbish for overnight but will be fine in the day, I think. We've got a chicco next to me for nighttime this time around. If I hadn't already got the moses basket I'd probably buy a sleepyhead or similar and lay it on the sofa. Until they can roll those things are fine, if you're awake/watching baby and alert to any possibly rolling just to be safe.

CheshireeeCattt · 26/01/2021 14:12

Hi all, first time here - hope it's ok to join in.

FTM, due 20th April. Had my GD test today and will get results on 28th when I have my midwife appointment and Anti-D injection.

Anyone being diagnosed with GD - what happens next? What do you need to do, diet changes?

No one has spoken to me about baby's measurements (20 week scan shows everything along the 'normal' curve) or even very much to be honest - nothing birth plan like just yet - assume this is normal?

Seen some comments about sleeping in bed, I have a pregnancy pillow that's like a very long U shape and find having something wedged very slightly behind my back with my legs straddling the other side of the pillow and partly under my bump, I've been lucky enough to sleep pretty well.

Sending stay strong vibes to all the Mummas Flowers

BoJingle · 26/01/2021 16:50

@greyskyclouds I'm OK thank you. My GD is a strange one. It was fine and manageable, until over night it wasn't. It now is impossible to manage by diet alone as my morning readings are so high, they tell me it's hormone related so I've just started medication. Despite not wanting medication, it's a relief that it will hopefully help because it's draining when you're eating all the "recommended" foods and doing everything right on paper but still can't get sugars under control.

@CheshireeeCattt in my very limited experience, yes diet changes. No sugar, reduced carbs. It really depends on tolerance which I've learnt varies hugely from person to person. Someone may be fine with a slice of brown bread others (me) can't have any bread in any form. Hopefully you'll be fine and have negative results.

For daytime/downstairs sleeping, last time I used the carrycot but it was quite small so didn't last long at all. We also had a babybox as they did them free. They don't anymore so I've got a moses basket. I want somewhere safe the baby can sleep out of reach of my toddler!

No, I think you make a good point. I don’t even like outside coats touching indoor clothes so I don’t think you’re bring precious!

Coronavirus means that people have started operating at the hygiene levels They have been telling me are excessive Grin

The 4 in 1 looks great. Think I may try to get a sleepyhead. They’re so expensive though!

That’s annoying. Totally understand you not wanting medication but in this situation it’s the safest thing for you to do.

Sansa87 · 26/01/2021 20:21

@LeopardLover how are you doing!

Catlady21 · 26/01/2021 20:31

We used a sleepy head for our previous two as the next to me was just too big for them and they wouldn't settle. We sold it after our second child though... this time around we are having a moses basket downstairs and another up in the bedroom.

My GD is still fortunately diet controlled, but as mentioned above, it's all trial and error as to what works for you. The only bread I tolerate is the Burgen soya and linseed. Not the brown bread all the dieticians recommend. Sugar free Hartleys jelly is a God send! They won't affect your readings at all! Also, add cheese to everything you eat as it breaks carbs down slowly.

BoJingle · 26/01/2021 21:08

@catlady21 I miss bread! I've even tried super expensive gluten free protein seeded bread and it's no good. Will they induce you early? They've told me induction between 37/38 weeks. I'm on the fence about it as I really didn't want to be induced but I guess it's about what's best for baby.

Also, 37 weeks is 8 weeks away and I am not ready for a baby in 8 weeks 😱

I like the look of the sleepyhead but last time I decided I was wait and see if it was needed as I didn't want to introduce something unnecessarily and she get used to it. I'm going to do the same again. If she struggles to settle, I'll definitely be getting a sleepyhead to see if that helps.

OP posts:
BoJingle · 26/01/2021 21:10

Just realised I said, if "she" struggles to settle. Habit from already having DD. I don't know if baby is a he or a she! Anyone else team yellow? Do you have any strong feelings either about what you're having, as in, you really think it's one or the other? I am clueless and change my mind pretty much daily

OP posts:
Catlady21 · 26/01/2021 21:48

We are also team yellow, but I feel it's a boy. I correctly guessed my other two correctly so we will see!

No talk about induction yet. With the other two they said as long as I remain diet controlled I can go full term. Both arrived naturally though at 37 weeks and 39 weeks. Hoping for the same this time around. Although we have no childcare so I will probably have to labour alone, which I'm trying not to think about.

SequinCola · 26/01/2021 22:44

I also don't know what I'm having. I think it's a boy, and I think that's just because I have an older brother and my husband is The eldest - so boys come first in my head! I'd be delighted either way.

Has anyone started thinking about child care yet? I've suddenly just had a panic this evening that I should have put their name down somewhere already?! Even though they don't have a name yet!

GreySkyClouds · 26/01/2021 23:18

Gluten free bread is generally crap. So crap that I cut it out completely when I became GF.
